ROWE, CRAIG JOHN "FLINT"

Craig John “Flint” Rowe, passed peacefully away with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 49 years, on August 9, 2020 at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s. Predeceased by his grandparents: John and Victoria Rowe and Frank and Mary Martin. Leaving to mourn with fond memories his parents: Jack and Judy Rowe of St. Anthony; brother: Colin (Nicole) Rowe of St. John’s; sister: Carla (Jason) Sharpe of Stephenville, NL; niece: Olivia Sharpe; nephews: Jack Sharpe and James Rowe; close buddies: Trent and Shawn. As well as a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and good friends. Special thanks for the wonderful care and support from the hematologists, staff of 4 North A and ICU at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s. Craig was an avid salmon fisherman and spent a lot of time in his happy place on the river, especially Main Brook. As well his immense knowledge of computers and technology were always an asset to those who knew him, particularly when they needed help. Funeral services will be held at a later date in St. Anthony. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Craig’s memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (www.llscanada.org). Funeral Arangments are entrusted to Kerry M. Chris was born in Deer Lake on November 10th 1957. In 1974 he moved to St. Anthony to live with his brother Gary and his wife Madonna. It was in St. Anthony that he met the love of his life Gertie and together they had one daughter Kristie. They married on November 20th, 1976. Chris worked at Varies Jobs until 1982, when he went to work with Maurice’s Service Center as a Truck driver. He remained there for 33 years. He served with the local fire dept. for 35years in various rolls. Most of all, Chris enjoyed spending time at his camper fishing, hunting, picking berries and enjoying nightly campfires with his wife Gertie and buddies Stan and Donna. He was a man of few words but he loved to sit and listen to others with a grin. Left to mourn the loss of Chris form their lives are his wife Gertie, Daughter Kristie, Fur Buddie Jack, Brothers Gary (Madonna) and Phillip, sister Cora (Frank), sister in laws Audrey (Joe), Donna (Stan), Linda (Rafe), Rosemary, Nieces and nephews Dawn (Eddie); Mike (Nivose); Jerry (Tina); Melissa; Dan; Julia (Guy), Chris (Tammy); Rochelle (Andy); Cory (Shelley); Deana (Rol); Gina (Brad); Sandy (Ivan); Heather (Trevor); and Families, as well as a large group of Family and Friends. Though a young man, Chris lived to see the passing of his mother Brada, Father Sterling, Brother Tony, and Mother in law Mary Fillier, Big Nan Lavinia Fillier and Brother in Law Wilbourne Fillier. Visitation was held at the Funeral home in St. Anthony on Tuesday November 24th, from which the funeral service was held on Wednesday November 25th with Major Baggs Officiating. Donations in Memory of Chris Can be made to The Canadian Cancer Society.

Parsons, Alwood

Alwood Andrew (George) Parsons was born at St. Anthony to Jessie and Annie Parsons Jonuary 21st, 1950. Also born to that family were Rueben, deceased, Marthda, deceased, Ross, deceased, Robert, Gladys, and Albert. Albert is twin brother to Alwood. 

Alwood grew up in Roddickton, where he graduated high school/ He was joined in marriage to Celie Randell on July 24th, 1973. To this union was born two children, Deanne and Shane. Alwood was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Alwood took on many different types of employment. He worked as a lumber grader with Canada Bay Lumber Co., as a forestry worker and a teacher. He fished with this brothers, Robert and Albert for approximately 35 years. He was also a fireman for 25 years.

He was a boat builder, carpenter, sports fan, Red Wings fan, dart player, and a cook extraordinaire! Alwood was take from this life tragically on the 21st of September, 2015 in his 65th year. he will be greatly missed by his wife Celie Parsons, Children Deanne (Shane), Shane (Nathalie), Mother-in-law Lily, Brothers Robert (Harriet), Albert (Lavinia), Sister Gladys (Eric), Granddaughters Alexis, Shelby; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Visitation was held at the Apostolic Faith Church in Roddickton from where the funeral services were held at 2:00pm on Sunday September 27th, 2015 with Rev. Christopher Hewlett officiating. Burial followed in the New Apostolic Faith Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard funeral director.   

NEWMAN, JOHN

Passed away peacefully at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 10th day of January 2014. Mr. John Newman of Englee was in his 94th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memoires Sons Junior(Arlene) and Perry(Lenita), Daughters Juanita(Norm), Olive, Shirley(Scott), and Glenda(Rudy), Sister Mae,  Thireteen Grandchildren, Twenty Great Grandchildren, Brother –in-law Francis, as well as large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Daisy, daughter Ida, Parents Theophilus and Bertha, Brothers Cecil and Shem, Sister Lucinda and Son-in-law Gordon. Visitation was held at the Salvation Army church in Englee followed by the funeral service which was held at 2:00pm on the 13th day of January 2014 with Major Henry Bingle officiating. Internment followed in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nipard Funeral Director.

KENNEDY, JOSEPH JOHN

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joseph Kennedy announce his passing on Tuesday the 27th of November 2012. Mr. Joseph Kennedy of Bird Cove was in his 68th year. He leaves to  mourn with loving memories his brothers Simon(Ethel Hynes); John (Georgina Mahar); Sister Melena (Patrick Caines); all the residence of Bird cove as well as his relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Simon and Catherine Pittman; Brother Michael; John; and Sister Alice (Austin Caines). The visitation was held at the Our lady of Grace Church in Bird Cove from where the funeral mass took place at 11:00am on Friday the 30th day of November 2012 with Father Biju Anthony officiating, interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.
