In Loving Memory of James George Pilgrim

July 12, 1949 — November 5, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James George Pilgrim, age 75, who

left us on November 5, 2024. James was born on July 12. 1949, in Griquet, Newfoundland, to

George and Mae Pilgrim.

James was united in marriage to the love of his life, Karen Pilgrim ( St. Anthony Bight), on

October 10. 1987. Together, they built a life in Griquet, where they raised their children and

created countless cherished memories.

A proud fisherman, James spent most of his life on the water, and he was known for his

unwavering dedication to his family and community. He was a passionate Toronto Maple Leafs

fan, proudly wearing his Leafs attire. In his free time, James enjoyed playing darts, berry

picking, and trouting. He found peace and purpose in reading his Bible and praising the Lord, a

source of comfort and strength throughout his life.

James was predeceased by his parents, George and Mae Pilgrim; his brothers, Ronald and

Edward; and his sister, Christine.

Left to mourn his loss are his devoted wife, Karen; daughters, Tina. April, and Mallory; sons,

Cory. Edward, and Dillon; grandchildren, Shannah, Daniel, Alexander. Connor, Zoe. Caylee,

and Olyver; and great-grandchildren, Deacon, Kyler, and Chay.

James is also survived by his brothers, Valance and Ernest; his sisters-in-law, Sylvia. Shirley,

and Madonna; his sons-in-law, Alasdair, Bradley, and Morgan; his daughter-in-law. Lynn; as

well as a large circle of friends and extended family.

James’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in peace,

embraced by the love and grace of the Lord.

POOLE, THOMAS JAMES

Thomas J. Poole was born on September 15th, 1930 to Fredrick and Emma Poole.

He Leaves to mourn his children Cora (Gordon), Bernice (Frank), Victor (Christine), Bessie (Chad), Shawn (Wendy), and Ethel (Pleman). His grandchildren Effie, Dean, Vince, Pauline, Kent, Stacey, Laura, Natalie, Krista, Karla, Ashley, Danny, Nicole, Michelle, Lisa and Cole. His great-grandchildren Danielle, Courtney, Kyle, Shayla, Megan, Alysha, Alana, Taylor, Hannah, Cali, Nathan, Leah, Benjamin, Jack, Ryder, Maddison, Georgia, Bentley and Elsie-Mae. His great-great-grandchildren Logan and Dayna. His sister Ethel (Wilfred), many nieces, nephews and friends.

Tom is predeceased by his wife Elsie, 2 sons Carl and Wallace. 6 brothers Nelson, Earl, Norm, Paul, William and Llewllyn. Two sisters Florence and Shirley. Parents Fredrick and Emma. 

Tom met and married the love of his life Elsie Burden on December 27th, 1956. Together they raised eight children. Tom was a hard worker who did the best to provide for his family. Tom had his trials in life when he lost his 23 year old son to a motorcycle accident  in 1984. In 1992 he lost a second son, age 30, in a drowning accident, along with his brother, age 59. Then in September 1999 he lost his wife, age 60. All the tragedies made him stronger, he never gave up and stayed strong to the end.

Rest in peace. 

Visitation began on March 14th, 2022 and will continue till the service at a local meeting place (time of which will be announced) With Rev. Jennifer Rumbolt Officiating. STRYDE, ALFRED JAMES

Alfred James Stryde was born to Aubrey and Isabella Stryde of Bridgeport on Dec. 23rd of 1940. On August 16th of 1967 he Married the love of his life Elizabeth Hill of Cooks Harbour. They were blessed with the birth of three sons, Gordon, Darren and Shawn. Elizabeth and Alfred also raised Cathy Tucker for a number of years. He loved to read and listen to church on Sunday. He will be sadly missed by his sons Darren (Petrina) Stryde, and Shawn (Carol) Stryde and his three treasures ; Krista, Nathan and Alex. His sister Jean Boyd, Glady (Charles) Emberley, Louise Stryde, Thelma (Terry) Wheeler, Eileen (John) Philpot and his brother Harvey (Betty) Stryde. His sister in law Loretta Stryde, Marg Rose, Betty Hill and Eliza Hill. Alfred was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth Stryde, Son Gordon, Parents Aubrey and Isabella Stryde, his sister Maisie Rideout; brothers Ivan and Eric Stryde; and brother-in-law Gilbert Boyd and will be missed by his buddies Grenfell Blake, Everton Patey, Ronald Pilgrim and Many other family members and friends. Visitation to be held at the Funeral home in St. Anthony from 2-4 pm on Saturday October 23rd and 2-4pm on Sunday, October 24th, after which the funeral service will take place at 2:00pm on the 25th day of October, 2021, with Majors Henry and Beatrice Bingle officiating. Interment to follow in the Salvation Army Cemetery.. Funeral arrangement entrusted to Kerry M Fillatre Funeral Home, Lee Nippard, Funeral Director.

RUSSELL, CYRIL JAMES

Passed peacefully away into eternal sleep at the John M. Gray Center on the 18th day of April 2013. Mr. Cyril Russell of Williams Harbour was in his 85th year.  He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memoires Brothers Clifford Russell (Charlotte), Graham Russell (Patricia), William Larkham(Nellie), Carl Larkham(Janet), Harold Larkham(Velma), Paul Larkham(Martha), Sisters Mildred Campbell, Bella Saunders(Henry), as well as a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Dorcas Larkham, Step-father Charles Larkham, Brother-in-law Stanley Campbell, Brother Hayward Larkham, Sister Bernice Larkham. Visitation was held at St. Andrews the Apostle Anglican church in Port Hope Simpson from which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on the 21st day of April 2013 with The Rev.’d Gail Coley MacDonald officiating. Interment followed in the Anglican cemetery in Port Hope Simpson. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.
