Passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 26th day of November 2013. Mr. Gordon Elihu Powell of St. Anthony was in his 66th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of forty-one years Juanita, two daughters Tracey(Lorn) and Tammy(Morgan), Two Sons Ricky, Kirby(Rachel), Ten Grandchildren, Four Sisters Beluah(Robert), Lydia, Sadie, and Gertie, Two Brothers Hedley(Mary) and Donald(Joan) as well as a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Sarah, Brothers Melvin and Alfred,  and Daughter -in-law Wendy. Visitation was held at the funeral home in St. Anthony form which the funeral service took place at 2:00pm on the 29th day of November 2013 with Rev. Stephanie McClellan officiating. Internment followed out at the Fishing Point United Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger Funeral Director.

SIMMS, MELVIN GORDON

Passed peacefully away on the 30th day of January 2013 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital. Mr. Melvin Simms Of Roddickton was in his 78th year.  HE leaves to mourn his wife Louise Simms – Roddickton, NL; Daughters Judy(Terry) Norman –Fort McMurray, AB; Pauline(Dennis) Hancock – Roddickton, NL; Linda(Tom) Newman – Roddickton, NL; Bonnie (Kevin) Newman -- Roddickton, NL.; Patsy(Chris) Hewlett – Kitchener, ON; Ina(Eugene) Brenton – Roddickton, NL; Brother Arch(Pearl) Simms – Roddickton, NL; Sisters Ruby Swain –Carbonear, NL; Leah(Ronald) Lidstone – Reidville, NL; Madeline(Warrick) Newman – Englee, nL; Fifteen Grandchildren, Thirteen Great Grandchildren, lots of nephews and nieces and many other relatives and friends. Visitation was held at The Apostolic Faith Church in Roddickton form which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on the 3rd day of February with Pastor Rene Cassell officiating. Interment followed in to The Apostolic Faith church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard funeral director.
