He fished in the long liner for a few years before going to Goose Bay for work. Only there for a couple years before coming back to Cook's Harbour to do what he loved most.... fishing !Roy loved to set potatoes in the summer and he mostly enjoyed digging them in the fall when he could get the chance to cook up a feed of fish ,potatoes and scrunchions and then to end his meal with a good cup of tea and a cigarette. His grandchildren were his pride and joy! He loved to watch them play and hear their stories. If he could get them up to something that they shouldn't be at he would. He loved every minute he spent with them. In the last 8 years as a quadriplegic, he spent time at Curtis Hospital and the John M Gray center in St.Anthony.
