FILLIER, DULCIE

Passed away into peace on the 18th of January, 2025, in her 95th year at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, Mrs. Dulcie Fillier

Left to Cherish Memories are her Children: Roger Fillier (Wendy), Scott Fillier (Donna), Neil Fillier (Bernice), Celia Fillier, Wanda Daye, Patti Fillier (Danny Henzbee), Brenda Brenton (Willis), Her Sisters Delilah Brown and Lillian Ricketts, as well as many grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews and a large circle of Friends and Relatives.

Dulcie was predeceased by her husband Bennett Fillier, Her Parents Stanley and Alice Randell, Hers Sons Kevin Fillier and Boyce Fillier, Her Daughter Loretta Fillier, Grandson Tyson Brenton, brother Ronald Randell, Sister Dorothy Randell and brothers in law Steward Randell, Ralph Ricketts, and Samuel Bown.

Visitation will take place at the Salvation Army Church in Englee Beginning Thursday, January 23rd, 2025 and continuing through to the funeral service at 2pm on Saturday, January 25th with Major Janes officiating. Burial will follow the service at the new Salvation Army Cemetery following the service.

RANDELL, YVONNE SYBIL

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Yvonne Sybil Randell who left us on January 18, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Yvonne was born on May 19, 1944, at Roddickton to Gideon and Grace Hancock. Also, to this union was born: Fred, Willis, Stanley, Frank, Ford, Don, Winnie, Lillian, Ruby, Nancy, Jean, Barb, Dennis & Kirby.

She moved to Mount Pearl at the age of 18 and married Gorden Randell, May 25, 1962. They had one son, Jarvis, the love of her life. Then to Grand Falls where Gordon pastored and then to Birchy Bay where he continued pastoring for approximately 20 years at the Apostolic Faith Church. After the passing of her husband, she moved back home to Roddickton in 2006 and in 2010 she went to live and care for her brother Willis and moved into the Grace Sunset Cottages in May 2018, until God called her home.

Yvonne was predeceased by: Parents: Gideon & Grace Hancock, Husband: Gordon Randell, Brothers: Fred, Willis, Stanley, Frank & Don, Sister: Ruby

She leaves to mourn: Son: Jarvis (Loretta), Grand children: Marcel (Taeevn) and Courtney (Lukas)., Great grand children: Jordan, Lemmie, Eliana, all living in South Korea., Brothers: Ford (Carol) Hancock, Dennis (Pauline) Hancock, Kirby (Bertha) Hancock and Bradley (Judy) Hancock., Sisters: Winnie Randell, Lillian (Alan) Lee, Nancy (Bruce) Burton, Jean (Clarence) Butt, Barb (George) Burton and a large circle of family and friends.

HEDDERSON, VELMA

June 24, 1940 - January 12, 2025
Passed away into peace on the 12th of January, 2025 Mrs. Velma Hedderson of Hay Cove in her 84th Year.

Velma was born in Hay Cove on June 24th 1940, to Dorman and Blanche Eddison. On January 12, 1959, she married the love of her life Vallance Hedderson. Together they raised three children: Dennis, Kettie, Audrey and grandson Tyler

Velma adored her family and friends with her whole heart!
Visitation is being held at the Central United Church at Quirpon Branch, January 14th, 2025, and continuing through to the Funeral Service at 2pm on Wednesday January 15th, 2025 with Rev. Mark Willkoff officiating. Cremation will follow the service with burial at a later date.

FIELD, ELEANOR MARIE

Passed away into peace at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony with her family by her side on the 5th of January, 2025, Mrs. Eleanor Marie Field, in her 81st Year.
Eleanor was a very outgoing woman who dearly loved her family. She was always up for a visit, game of cards and bingo, cooking and berry picking. She was a hard worker, caring, kind, selfless and strong woman who always helped others in any way she could.
The family are very thankful for the care their mom received since being unwell, from Strait of Belle Isle Health Center, Curtis Hospital, Richfell and Ivy Durly Place and all her home care workers (she was very grateful for every one of them).
Left to Mourn her passing are her Girls: Pat, Peggy (Dave), Gina (Kurtis & Jaxson), Brooklyn & Meghan,
Sisters: Gladys (Tony) & Ethel (Larry), Brother: George (Stella), Sister-in-Laws: Clara, Donna (Jimmy), Brother-in-Laws: Gordon, Enos, Lloyd (Marjorie) & Randy (Sheila), as well as a Large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Eleanor was predeceased by her Husband: Clarence, Parents: Muriel & Eldred, Sisters: Jane, Bessie & Evangeline, Brothers: Harvey, Harrison (Winnie) & Nelson, Nephew: Ivan, Parents-in-laws: Violet & William and Lambert, Brother-in-Law: Hedley Field, Stepsister-in-law: Thamsie (Curling).
A Visitation is being held at the funeral home in St. Anthony on January 8th, from 2-4pm.
A family service will be held at the St. Thomas Anglican Church in Sandy Cove at 9pm on the 12th of January 2025, followed by the funeral service at 11am on Monday January 13th with Rev. Canon Vernon Short Officating. burial will follow in the Savage Cove Anglican Cemetery.

Passed away peacefully at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony NL on The 23rd Day of December, 2024, Mrs. Ethel Gould in her 91st year.

Visitation is being held at the Bear Cove Anglican Church beginning Thursday December 26th and continuing through to the family service in the evening of Friday, December 27th, 2024. The funeral service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, December 28th, 2024 with Rev. Canon Vernon Short Officiating. burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

JACOBS, CLARICE

Clarice Elva Jacobs was born Nov. 2, 1934 on Horse Islands, NL to George & Helen (Rideout) Compton.  She was one of 5 children in the family.  At the age of 16 she and the family moved to Roddickton.  On June 27, 1953 she married Donald Jacobs and together they raised a family of 5 and made their lifelong home in Roddickton.  Clarice spent most of her life as a hardworking homemaker in every aspect. 

Later in life she acquired employment at the local crab plant – for which she was very proud and grateful.  She was deeply devoted to God and her church.  She was a devoted Sunday School teacher for a number of years and left a great impact on her students.  She was one of the early members of the Ladies’ Charity Group and remained a member for many years.  She enjoyed the fellowship & socializing with other ladies. 

She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and embroidery – especially quilt blocks – aiming for nothing less than perfection in her work.

Clarice also loved the great outdoors: cook-ups, berry picking, trouting.  She could spend hours casting out her line – whether she caught a trout or not.

She loved her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren dearly.  She passed peacefully away at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Nov. 9th, 2024.  She leaves to mourn her passing - son:  Clyde (Karen);  daughters: Wavey (Wilfred);  Sharon (Allan);  Lori. 

Grandchildren:  Lorinda, Lindy, Diana, Kelly, Michael, Melanie, Olise, Nneka, Emeka.

Great-grandchildren: Sophie, Meredith, Emelia, Diego, Rylan, Hadley, Liam, Mia, Oscar & Cassian.

Predeceased by: husband Donald, baby son: George, and grandson: Robert.  Her memory will live on!

Visitation is being held at the Apostolic Faith Church in Roddickton NL Beginning Wednesday, November 12th and continuing through to the funeral service at 11am on Thursday November 13th with Pastor Michael Ivany officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Church Community Cemetery.

PILGRIM, JAMES GEORGE

In Loving Memory of James George Pilgrim

July 12, 1949 — November 5, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James George Pilgrim, age 75, who

left us on November 5, 2024. James was born on July 12. 1949, in Griquet, Newfoundland, to

George and Mae Pilgrim.

James was united in marriage to the love of his life, Karen Pilgrim ( St. Anthony Bight), on

October 10. 1987. Together, they built a life in Griquet, where they raised their children and

created countless cherished memories.

A proud fisherman, James spent most of his life on the water, and he was known for his

unwavering dedication to his family and community. He was a passionate Toronto Maple Leafs

fan, proudly wearing his Leafs attire. In his free time, James enjoyed playing darts, berry

picking, and trouting. He found peace and purpose in reading his Bible and praising the Lord, a

source of comfort and strength throughout his life.

James was predeceased by his parents, George and Mae Pilgrim; his brothers, Ronald and

Edward; and his sister, Christine.

Left to mourn his loss are his devoted wife, Karen; daughters, Tina. April, and Mallory; sons,

Cory. Edward, and Dillon; grandchildren, Shannah, Daniel, Alexander. Connor, Zoe. Caylee,

and Olyver; and great-grandchildren, Deacon, Kyler, and Chay.

James is also survived by his brothers, Valance and Ernest; his sisters-in-law, Sylvia. Shirley,

and Madonna; his sons-in-law, Alasdair, Bradley, and Morgan; his daughter-in-law. Lynn; as

well as a large circle of friends and extended family.

James’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in peace,

embraced by the love and grace of the Lord.

WILCOX, VIOLA

Mrs. Viola Flossie Wilcox of Roddickton, NL. She was born in Hampton, NL on August 3, 1931 to Walter and Matilda Fillier. She has three brothers: Ralph (deceased), Kenneth (deceased) and Jerry (Ontario); four sisters: Bessie (deceased), Elma (deceased), Sylvia (deceased), and Ella (La Scie, NL).

It was on August 26, 1950, she married the love of her life Harvey John Wilcox at Wild Cove, Canada Bay, NL. Shortly after, they moved to Roddickton where she raised her family of three sons: Raymond (deceased), Winston, and Leander; four daughters: Priscilla, Ruby (deceased), Belinda, and Angela.

She was a very family person who loved to bake, knit, especially knitting quilts. In her earlier years, she did work at the Englee fish plant. She learned how to make bread when she was ten years old. She became a Christian in 1958 and faithfully served the Lord thereafter.

It was on October 25, 2024 at 12:30 PM she passed from this life to reap her heavenly reward. Left to share and cherish her memories are her

EDDISON, WINNIFRED HAZEL

May 5, 1944 - October 11, 2024

Winnifred Hazel Eddison (nee Young) of Noddy Bay, NL passed away in the presence of her loved ones at the Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital on October 11, 2024 at the age of 80 years.

Winnie was born in Quirpon to Thomas and Alfreda ( Nee Roberts) Young, Her mom passed away when she was seven years old and she became a mother figure to her brothers that continued throughout her lifetime. She married Wesley Eddison of Noddy Bay on January 24, 1964 and raised five children together. She worked at the fish plant until she had her first battle with cancer. She fought cancer on three occasions but always remained witty and funny throughout it all. She always maintained that moonshine was the best medicine for any and all  illnesses. She will certainly be remembered by her family for her amazing cooking skills, berry picking, knitting and making quilts. Her quilts are in all corners of the world with a few in bed and breakfast businesses on the Northern Peninsula. 

Winnie leaves to Mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories, her children: Dwayne ( Shirley), Sheldon ( Tracey), Barry ( Kelly) Jackie and Tanya ( David); Sisters: Florence, Nellie and half sister Barbara; Brothers: Lloyd (Joyce), Eric (Moriah), Norman (Glenda), Algie and  half brother Thomas; Brother in law Francis ( Selma) Hedderson. Grandchildren: Marcel, Stefan; April, Alexander, Dayna, Hayward, Erin, Ethan, Amanda, Aaron and 13 great grandchildren. Winnie will also be greatly missed by a large circle of other relatives and close friends. Too many to name but Matilda Pynn, Graham Burden, Hazel Hedderson, Beryl Pilgrim, Karen Patey. Joy Hedderson ( Both of them) , Carl Hedderson ( Her psychiatrist), 10 well fed chickens and the rest of Aunt Blanche's children are a few. 

Winnie was Predeceased by her parents and husband Wesley. Father in law Walter Eddison and Mother in law Victoria ( nee Roberts) Brother in laws Ambrose ( Elsie) Hedderson, Nimrod Hedderson, Stan ( Nellie) Bishop. James ( Flo) Barron. Sister in laws Johanna (Ernest)Hillier, Blanche( Peter) Hedderson, Mary Ann (Israel) Blake  and Sarah Jane ( Willie) Bishop.


Visitation will take place from the Central United Church at Quirpon Branch  on October 14th 2024 at 6-9pm and October 15, 2024 at 1-3pm and 6 to 9pm.  The funeral will take place on  Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Arthur Kinsella officiating. Interment to follow at the Quirpon Cemetery.
