CANNING, ERIC RUDOLPH

Eric Rudolph Cannning was born to Obediah and Leah Canning of Englee on August 28, 1931, the third of eight children. On July 12, 1951 he married the love of his life, Gladys May Parsons, and together they raised eleven children.

He lived a very active life. At the age of ten, he started working at a sawmill for Saunders and Howell. At age fourteen he went to work in the lumber woods, where he was employed until 1978; at which time he became the janitor at Evely Collegiate in Roddickton. He was employed there until he retired at age 65.

He enjoyed cutting wood, fishing, rabbit catching, berry picking and moose hunting with the boys. He always enjoyed his daily rides with mom, until his health declined – but not his memory. Dad was a lovely singer and button accordion player, and he always played the accordion for his family. He was a friend to everyone he met, and there was always a meal of trout available for anyone who
wanted them.

He will always be dearly loved and missed by all of us.

See you soon!
