GOULD, ETHEL

Passed away peacefully at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony NL on The 23rd Day of December, 2024, Mrs. Ethel Gould in her 91st year.

Ethel will always remembered by: Husband Clyde sr. Sons: Wilson (Gladys) , Clifford ( Anne ), Clyde jr. (Holly), Stephen (Brenda), Glenn ( Vanessa ), Martin ( Susan ),Grand children: Roland ( Denise ), Robin ( Amanda ), Ramsey ( Donna), Bianca ( Andrew ), Jeffrey ( Felicia ), Jamie ( Megan ) , Keagan , Morgan, Spencer ( Alyson ), Mackenzie, Great grandchildren: Brandon, Abbey, Caleb, Sidney, Andrea, Mya, Jayla, Layla, Lily

She was Pre deceased by: Parents Thomas and Beatrice Genge, Sisters: Evelyn ( Edward ), Eliza ( Porter ), Grandson Wilson Gould jr., Sisters in-law: Gloria, Georgina, Alma and Ivy, Brothers in-law: Curtis, Daniel, Garfield, Cyril, Isaac

Visitation is being held at the Bear Cove Anglican Church beginning Thursday December 26th and continuing through to the family service in the evening of Friday, December 27th, 2024. The funeral service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, December 28th, 2024 with Rev. Canon Vernon Short Officiating. burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

PATEY, ALLAN

Allan Patey was born in St. Lunaire on July 17, 1936 to Samuel and Beulah Patey.  On Oct 19, 1960 he married the love of his life Florence (née Humby).  They had many years’ together and raised eight children who were the apple of his eye.  He was a dedicated and loving husband of 53 years, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.  He loved to attend church and prayer meetings until his health wouldn’t allow him anymore.  He was a hard worker and he never saw his family go without anything.  He was a fisherman until the moratorium and also a carpenter.  He helped to build churches in St. Lunaire-Griquet and Red Bay, Labrador, schools, wharfs, a bank and Norstead. He volunteered as head usher, a grave digger, a member of the fishermen’s committee and St. Lunaire Harbour Authority.  Allan enjoyed snowshoe making, going out for evening rides and he loved telling and playing jokes. He loved telling stories and cherished spending time with his family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was a man who would lend a helping hand to anyone in need.  Allan passed peacefully into the presence of his loving heavenly father on February 6th where he was reunited with his loving wife and loving parents and other family members.  

Left with many great and loving memories are his children Wanda (Jim) Eddison, Samuel (Audrey), William (Mary), Carol-Lynn (Tommy) Doran, Peggy-Ann (Morris) Curlew, Larraine (Teena), Valda (Glenn) Peddle, and Cory (Crystal).  Grandchildren Allan (Jocelyn), Evelyn (Brad), Shawn (Sara), Jeremy (Vanessa), Justin (Paislee), Jonathan (Vanessa), Brittany (Michael), Nicholas and Kian.  Great-Grandchildren Alexa, Braydon, Jaxon, Sasha, Griffin, Joey, Saskia, Landon, Alyssa, Jessa, Aleah, and Charlotte.  Sisters Beryl and Minnie, brother Noah, sister in law Joy, and many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.  He was predeceased by his beloved wife Florence, loving parents Samuel and Beulah, great Granddaughter Kayla, sisters Violet and Ivy, brother Leslie.  Father and mother in law Joseph and Jessie Humby and a number of in-laws.  Funeral service which was held at 2:00 pm on Friday February 11th, with Pastor Bill Harnum officiating.  Interment followed in the church cemetery.  Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.

STRYDE, ALFRED JAMES

Alfred James Stryde was born to Aubrey and Isabella Stryde of Bridgeport on Dec. 23rd of 1940. On August 16th of 1967 he Married the love of his life Elizabeth Hill of Cooks Harbour. They were blessed with the birth of three sons, Gordon, Darren and Shawn. Elizabeth and Alfred also raised Cathy Tucker for a number of years. He loved to read and listen to church on Sunday. He will be sadly missed by his sons Darren (Petrina) Stryde, and Shawn (Carol) Stryde and his three treasures ; Krista, Nathan and Alex. His sister Jean Boyd, Glady (Charles) Emberley, Louise Stryde, Thelma (Terry) Wheeler, Eileen (John) Philpot and his brother Harvey (Betty) Stryde. His sister in law Loretta Stryde, Marg Rose, Betty Hill and Eliza Hill. Alfred was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth Stryde, Son Gordon, Parents Aubrey and Isabella Stryde, his sister Maisie Rideout; brothers Ivan and Eric Stryde; and brother-in-law Gilbert Boyd and will be missed by his buddies Grenfell Blake, Everton Patey, Ronald Pilgrim and Many other family members and friends. Visitation to be held at the Funeral home in St. Anthony from 2-4 pm on Saturday October 23rd and 2-4pm on Sunday, October 24th, after which the funeral service will take place at 2:00pm on the 25th day of October, 2021, with Majors Henry and Beatrice Bingle officiating. Interment to follow in the Salvation Army Cemetery.. Funeral arrangement entrusted to Kerry M Fillatre Funeral Home, Lee Nippard, Funeral Director.

PILGRIM, MAITLAND ROLAND

Maitland Roland Pilgrim, Born May 15th, 1932. Passed away at the Palliative Care unit in Corner Brook on the 18th of August 2021 at the age of 89 years. He is predeceased by his wife Gladys Critch Pilgrim. Left to Mourn: Vince (Daisy), Dianne (Don), Mable (George), Grandson Keith Boyd, Great Grandson’s Clay & Kai Boyd. Visitation was held at the Funeral home in St. Anthony Followed by the Memorial service at the St. Anthony Salvation army Church at 20m on Saturday August 21st, 2021 with Major Bingle Officiating , burial in the church community cemetery will follow the service. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral home St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.

PILGRIM, IVAN MAXWELL WAYNE

it is with great sadness that the family of the late Ivan Pilgrim announce his passing on September 8th, 2020, at the Carbonear General Hospital at the age of 65 years old with his family at his side. Ivan’s funeral will take place at the Salvation Army Church on July 20, 2021 at 2pm. Burial will follow in the St. Anthony Bight Cemetery. Left to mourn his passing are his Beloved Wife Yvonne White, Children; Mike (Kendell) Pilgrim, Tammy Earle (Bryce Coombs) and Jamie Pilgrim, Grandchildren; Colby Coombs, Amber Dyson and Kaiden Czopko. his siblings; Eugene Pilgrim, Kye Pilgrim, Karen Pilgrim, Glenda Pilgrim, Wendy Pilgrim, June Pilgrim, Betty Pilgrim, Gladys Pilgrim and Tobias Pilgrim. Ivan was predeceased by his parents Johnathan and Anne Pilgrim and his sister Goldie Pilgrim.
