March 9th, 1939 – April 28, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Peter Joseph Caines announce his passing at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, St. Anthony at the age of 84 years. Peter leaves to mourn his loving wife, Semonne, of 66 years; 6 sons, Angus (Lily), Jim (Lily), Romie (Agnes), Percy (Monica), Levi (Priscilla), and Blaise (Kim); 3 daughters, Rita (Woody), Annette (Prim), and Helena (Craig). His brothers Austin, Pat (Melena), Romeo (Whilomena), Don (Maxine), his sister Josephine (Martin), and his sister-in-law Stella Caines (Ray). He will be sadly missed by his 17 grandchildren, Miranda (Toma), Murray, Enis (Andrea), Jamie (Kim), Andy, Kimberly (Shannon), Joanne (Kyle), Jason (Alex), Jeremy (Amanda), Deanna (Gary), Shauna (Cody), Gina, Mark (Shantel), Felicia (Dylan), Selena (Darren), Mia (Colton), and Magen (Luca) and 14 great-grandchildren, Jayden, Ethan, Ella, Michael, Milan, Jada, Jorja, Hailey, Ava, Taylor, Kai, Kiyomi, Harper, and Levi Jr., as well as a large circle of family and friends.

Peter is pre-deceased by his parents (Raymond and Rita), brother Ray (Stella), sister-in-law Alics (Austin), and great-grandchild Baby Jay (Felicia and Dylan).

The family would like to express our sincere thanks for the loving care given by his home care workers and health care staff at the palliative care unit in St. Anthony as well as the health care staff at the Strait of Belle Isle Health Centre in Flower’s Cove.

Visitation will take place at Our Lady of Grace church in Bird Cover. Family service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 30th, 2023. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 1st, 2023

FIELD, HEDLEY GEORGE

Born January 20th 1947, Mr. Hedley George Field passed peacefully away on April 6th, 2022 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony NL, in his 75th year

Hedley leaves to mourn his loving wife Clara and Daughter Lisa (Rob), 2 loving Granddaughters Lauren and Kiera, Whom he loved dearly. his 2 Brother Lloyd (Marjoree), Randy (Sheila) sister Donna (Jimmy) Step sister Tamsey, sister in law Dulcie (Wayne), sister in law Currie (Tom), Sister in law Rowena, as well as a large circle of nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Hedley was predeceased by his parents William and Violet Field, Step father Lambert and brother Clarence.

The memorial service was held at the St. Matthews Anglican Church in Cooks Harbour on Sunday April 10th with Rev. Arthur Kinsella Officiating. burial will follow at a later date, Funeral arrangements where entrusted to Kerry M. PARRILL, PRISCILLA

Priscilla (nee Ricks) Parrill,

Aged 99 years

December 19, 1922 - April 5, 2022

The family of the late Priscilla Parrill sadly announce the passing of their beloved mother on Tuesday, April 5th, 2022. Priscilla was the youngest child born to George and Jane (Davis) Ricks on Sops Island, White Bay. She always kept in close contact with her many extended family members and friends who still live in the Sops Arm, Pollards Point and Jacksons arm area.

Leaving to mourn; her four sons Ronald (Pat), Robert (Terri), Gordon (Pauline), Valance (the late Donna), and her daughter Joyce Squires (Kevin) and daughter-in-law Joy Parrill (the late Ross). Her 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, dear friends Flo Keats, Eleanor Reardon, Margaret Rose and Delphine Richards, as well as a very large extended family.

Priscilla was predeceased by her loving husband, Roland Parrill on June 25, 1978, her son Ross Parrill on Dec. 22, 2009 and her daughter-in-law Donna (Simms) Parrill on Feb. 1st, 2006.

Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral home in St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.

Family and friends may visit the funeral home in St. Anthony on Sunday April 10th from 7-9pm, Monday April 11 from 2-4. A celebration of life for Priscilla will be held at the St. Mary’s Anglican Church on Tuesday, April 12th at 2pm with Rev. Arthur Kinsella Officiating. Cremation will take place after the service and internment of the ashes at a later date. Flowers are graciously accepted as well as donations to St. Mary’s Anglican Church.

Our gratitude goes out to all those who cared for our mom; her caregivers, Nellie and Pam while she lived in her cottage, staff at Shirley’s Haven and the Grenfell Hospital, we are very thankful for your care and concern!

MORRIS, MADELINE VIVIAN

Madeline passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Monday April 26th 2021 at the John M. Gray Center in St. Anthony. She was born and raised in Main brook. Madeline moved to Labrador City with her Husband Alvon and 3 children in 1975. she was a Christian woman and attended her church faithfully. she loved people and people loved her. greeting and meeting people with “How are you My Darling” or “My loved” was just her way. “a kind word and a friendly smile goes a long way” she would say. her family was number one in her life! Madeline was survived by her husbands Alvon, and her three children Darren Morris, Tony Morris and Lisa Burton (Trent), 5 grandchildren Joshua, Jonathan, Rowan, Caleb and Aidan. as well as her only brother Bob Gaulton (Doris), Nephew Dion Gaulton (Sonia), Niece Debbie MacDonald (John). as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.

PYNN, EFFIE MARIE

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Effie Marie (McLean) Pynn on Saturday April 18, 2020 in her 83rd year. Efiie as born in Eddies Cove on February 18, 1937 to George and Eliza McLean. She lived in Eddies Cove until she moved to St. Anthony when she was 14. It was there that she met the love of her life Albert and moved to Quirpon. They were married in 1953 and raised their children together. Effie was a homemaker as well as helping with the fishing chores. She was a shop owner and eventually went to work at the fish plant until she retired. She will be sadly missed for her loving heart and sharp personality.

 Leaving to mourn Daughters Annie, Eliza (Bob) and Son Bradley (Peggy). Grandchildren Stacey (Tom), Petrina (Colin), Nicole (Wade), Georgina (Jason), Bobby, Miranda (Stephen), Colby and Avery. Brothers Angus (Hilda), Roland (Effie) Sister Eliza (Joe) 8 Great Grandchildren and a wide circle of extended family and friends.

She was predeceased by her late Husband Albert, Son George and Son in Law Guy, Her parents George and Eliza, 4 Grandchildren. Jennifer, Tammy, Samantha, Tyson and 1 great grandchild, Danielle.

SAUNDERS, OLIVE

April 16th, 1920 ~ April 24th, 2014

 

Olive was born on April 16th, 1920 as the eldest child of William and Gladys (Hancock) Allingham in Cooks Harbor. She married Fredrick Joseph Saunders of St. Lunaire on September 2, 1940. As a result of their marriage, they were blessed with the birth of four daughters and five sons. They also raised two granddaughters. Olive’s hands were always busy, making clothes for her children, making skin boots (In the early days!), knitting, hooking rugs, making quilts, and baking. Her bread and pies were the very best! She also spent many hours in the fishing stage with her husband during the 30 summers they spent at Indian Tickle on the Labrador coast. Later in life Olive married Francis Sampson of River of Ponds aknd Selby Loder of St. Lunaire-Griquet. She was loved and cherished by all and will be missed dearly. Olive passed away on April 24th, 2014 at the Charles s. Curtis memorial hospital in her 94th year. Olive Leaves To Mourn her sons; Herbert (Evangeline), Rex (Irene), Ezra (Viann), Sherwin (Patricaia), Wade (Coleen), Daughters Mary (Frank), Isabel Simms, Gladys Hedderson, Alma (Ronald), Maxine Peyton, Glenys (Havner). Sisters; Alma Stryde, Grace (Chuck) Milks, Triffena (Ernest) Rodgers, Laverne (Ralph) Colbourne, June (Ralph) Drover. Brothers Basil (Irene), Edgar (Elsie), Horace, Stedman (Marjorie), Llewellyn (Thelma). Brother in law Eric (Rita) Saunders, Sister in law Loretta Saunders, AS well as 35 Grandchildren, 70 Great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews and other relatives and close friends.  The visitation was held at the Pentecostal Church in St. Lunaire- Griquet, from which the funeral service was held on Sunday April 27th with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating, burial followed in the Church Cemetery. GILLARD, HANK BEVERLY FRANK

Passed away on the 14th of April at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, in his 62nd year, Mr. Hank Beverly Frank Gillard. Frank was born in Roddickton on February 29th, 1952 to parents John and Sylvia. he grew up in  Roddickton with his twelve brothers an sister. he later met and married Annie May Adams and they nine beautiful children.  he worked for two years in the mines in Sudbury, worked as foremen for seventeen years, he was also the maintenance man for the town of Roddickton. he owned convenience stores and ran "The Bam" for several years. he played music at an early age . there was not an instrument that he could play. He always had faith in the lord. he was a true believer. Left to mourn are his dear wife Annie May, his son Hank (Melissa), Daughter Vina, Jennifer (Rick), Candida (Jamie), Petrina, Janiece, Beverly (Dean), Deanza, Jacinta. 7 Granddaughters, 8 Grandsons, Sisters Dora Randell (Norman), Myrtle Canning, Etta-Mae Tiller, Brothers John, Lloyd, Leander, Raymond and Robert Randell as well as a large circle of family and friends. He lived to see the passing of his parents Sylvia and Jonathan Gillard, his sisters Marjorie, Mary and Georgie, and his brother Stennie. Visitation was held at the funeral home in Roddickton. The funeral Service was held at the Pentecostal Church in Roddickton with pastor G. B. Pinksen officiating. burial followed in the Church cemetery. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. DAVIS, AMBROSE

Passed Away Peacefully on the 10th of April, 2014 at the John M. Gray Center in St. Anthony, Mr. Ambrose Davis of Goose Cove In his 88th year. Ambrose (Brose) leaves to mourn his ()((*&^%$%^&*^) special Friend Anna Fitzpatrick, and sister Veronica Bromley. Ambrose lived to see the passing of his mother and father, Cecila Alward and Ambrose Davis, his sisters Irene Davis , Bridget (Cyril Ward), Laura (William Alyward), his brother John Davis and special friend Mahala Chambers. The visitation took place at the funeral home in St. Anthony followed by the Funeral Mass in The Roman Catholic Church in Goose Cove at 11:00am on the 14th of April with Father Anthony Nwaohiri officiating. burial followed the service in The Goose Cove Roman Catholic Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, Funeral Director.


MITCHELMORE, STEDMAN

Passed Away peacefully at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 10th of April 2014 at the age of 83 years, Mr. Stedman Mitchelmore of Green Island Cove. Stedman leaves to mourn his children Mona (Baxter), Marie (Terrance), Clifford (Betty), Leona (Gary), Vina, Patsy, Jouce (Roland), and Ramsey (Angela). as well his sister Marina, Brothers Claude and Stewart and 14 Grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 5 Great Great Grandchildren. Stedman lived to see the passing of his wife Amy, parents john and Alice, brother William Henry, and sisters Celia and Dolorez. The Visitation was held at St. Andrews Anglican Church in Lower Cove, From Which the funeral service took place at 2:00pm on Saturday April 12th, 2014 with Rev. Letto and lay person Maxine Hughes officiating. burial followed in the Anglican cemetery in Green Island Cove. Funeral Arrangements Were entrusted to Kerry M.
