Jane was born in Boat Harbour to Elder and Muriel Woodward. She was raised there until she went to St. Anthony to work at the hospital. On May 8, 1962 she married Gordon Applin. They lived in St. Anthony for a number of years before moving back to St. Barbe. She and Gordon had two children Dennis and Sheila. Jane was an active woman who loved knitting and enjoyed card games, berry picking, gardening and camping. She and Gord enjoyed working in their garden as well as spending time in their camper. On Friday Jane passed peacefully away.
Jane is survived by her husband of 60 years Gordon as well as her children Dennis (Mary Ann), and Sheila (Bob), also her grandchildren Shannon (Angela), Kerry (Lisa) and Mateo (Charlotte).and great-grand children Ella and Evan. She is also survived by her sisters Eleanor, Gladys, Ethel, and brother George.
She is predeceased by her parents Elder and Muriel, brothers Nelson and Harrison, and sisters Bessie, and Evangeline. She will be sadly missed.
Visitation to take place from the United Church in Pidgeon Cove beginning the evening of Sunday, June 26, 2022 and will continue until the funeral on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at 2:00pm with Rev, John McGonigle officiating. Interment to follow.

WOODWARD, NINA LILLIAN
Passed away peacefully on June 16, 2020, surrounded by her family in her home, in her 74th year. Nina Lillian Woodward was born on September 5, 1945 and spent her early years in Wild Bight. She later moved to St. Anthony with her family. Nina met the love of her life James Woodward while teaching at her first job in Boat Harbour. They had three daughters, Sheila, Shauna and Shirley who then became the love of their lives. Nina was known throughout her community and beyond for her delicious and skillful baking, especially her homemade bread. She loved flowers and gardening, was an excellent road hockey goalie and loved watching just about any sport her grandchildren were playing. She most recently worked at College of the North Atlantic as the campus Librarian where she thoroughly enjoyed working with her colleagues and helping students. She was a big part of the community, known and loved by all who knew her. To her nieces and nephews she was affectionately known as “Aunt Nina.” And whether it was a day, a week, or a month since she last saw you, you would be greeted with that beautiful smile and asked to sit down for a cup of tea and something to eat. She loved everything about life, but most of all she loved her family. She will be forever remembered and always loved by, husband James, daughters Sheila (Jeff), Shauna (Barry), Shirley (Chris), grandchildren Adam (Nikki) and Megan (Neil) and a long list of extended family and friends. Nina is predeceased by her parents Henry and Adelaide Decker, brothers Nathaniel (Emily), James (Ada) and Sisters Edith (Erastus), Joyce (Mark), her nieces Winnifred and Vivian and nephew Martin. Private Visitation to take place from Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home in St. Anthony with cremation to follow with a church service to be held at a later date.
WOODWARD, LEONARD
The family of Leonard Woodward with heavy hearts are saddened to announce his passing on January 14th, 2019 at the age of 62. He leaves to mourn, partner Cynthia Randell; Son Jason and Grand kids, Tiffany, Trevor & Hunter; Son Andy (Tracy) Grand Kids Meaghan and Ryan; Daughter Jodi; Siblings, Annie(Seymore), Helen(Bruce), Tony, Susan(Aaron), Garf, Loretta(Bruce), Glen(Carla) as well as numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and a large circle of friends. Leonard was predeceased by his parents Garfield and Vera as well as his Grandson Parker. Visitation was held from St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Boat Harbour from where the funeral was held on Friday, January 18th, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Catechist Arthur Kinsella officiating. Interment followed in the Boat Harbour Anglican Cemetery.
WOODWARD, ROBERT
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Robert Woodward announce his passing on March 19th, 2018 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 64 years. He leaves to mourn one daughter, Ananda (Glen) and one granddaughter, Sierra. He also leaves to mourn seven sisters; Clara (Hedley), Rowena, Dulcie (Wayne), Carrie (Thomas), Juanita, Joanne, Jennifer (Rob); 2 brothers, Earl (Gloria), Garfield; one very special cousin, Una Elliott; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Also, a special thank you to Wallace Woodward. Roberts was predeceased by his parents Abe and Blanche Woodward. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Woodward at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on March 26, 2016 at the age of 73 surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband William Woodward, parents- Clara and Noah Woodward, sisters - Elizabeth, Vina, Nellie, and Rosmond, brothers - Theophilus and Noah. Leaving to mourn with loving memories is her son Rod (Charlotte), daughters - Cindy (Graham), Sandra (Steve) and Jennie (Dean). Grandchildren - Chelsea, Nicholas, William, Heidi, Dillon and Hailey. Very special companion George Smith. Sisters- Hope (Lorne) and Elvia (David). Brother - John and nephew - Trevor (Louise). Also leaving to mourn a big circle of family and friends. Visitation was held at the Funeral Home in St. Anthony after which the funeral service was held at 11:00am on Wednesday the 30th day of March 2016 with Rev’d Fr. Paul Findlay officiating. Passed away peacefully at the John M. Gray Center on the 4th of October, 2014, Mrs. Evangeline Woodward of Boat Harbour, in her 64th year. Evangeline leaves behind with loving memories her Daughter Roxanne (George), granddaughter Hanna, Brothers and sisters Harrison (Late Winnie), George (Stella), Bessie (Enos), Ethel (Larry), Gladys (Tony), Elenor (Late Clarence) and Jean (Gordon). Evangeline was predeceased by her father Eldred, her Mother Muriel and her brother Nelson. Visitation took place at the Anglican Church in Boat Harbour, From Which the Funeral Service Took Place at 2:00pm on the 7th of October with Rev. Mark Wilkoff Officiating. Passed peacefully away at the John M. Gray Centre on May 24, 2014. Mrs. Blanche Woodward of Boat Harbour, in her 96th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughter Una (Gerald); sons Enos (Bessie) and Clyde (Patty); daughter-in-law Rowena; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Nathaniel, daughter Rowena, son Gerald, her parents Henry and Susan and a number of brother and sisters. Visitation was held at the St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Boat Harbour from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27 with Rev. Mark O. Wilkoff officiating.
