WHITE, WALTER SR.

August 20, 1947-November 22, 2023

It was with great sadness that the family of the late Walter White Sr. announced is peaceful passing at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on November 22, 2023, in his 76th year.

He leaves to mourn his loving and devoted wife of 53 years Caroline. His Sons: Walter Jr (Jennifer) White, Marcus (Tonya) White and Daughter Nicole (Stephen) White; Granddaughters: Jemma (Chris) Gould, Jorden (Cole) White, Brittany (William) White and Stephanie Strickland; Grandsons: Brandon White (Shawna), Carter Applin and Jaxon Applin; Great-Great Grand Children: Lexie Hedderson, Clara Hedderson, Mia White, Jaxon Flynn, James White, Noah Gould, and Michael Strickland; Brothers: Twin Brother Thomas (Dulcie) White, Jacob White, Jim (Jessie) White, Marcus (Emelene) White; Sisters: Emily Whalen, Mariah Gould.

He is predeceased by: Parents: Emanuel and Virginia White, Parent-In-Laws: Frederick and Mathilda Williams; Brother: Raymond (Enid) Toope; Sister-In-Laws: Cinderella Toope, Pauline White and Brother-In-Laws: Wilson Toope, Nelson Whalen, and Carl Gould.

The family service will take place on Friday, November 24th, 2023, at 7:00 pm. The funeral will be held at St. Thomas’ Anglican Church in Sandy Cove on Saturday, November 25th, 2023, at 2:00 pm with Rev. Canon Vernon Short officiating. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery in Savage Cove.

WHITE, STANLEY

October 15, 1953 – September 10, 2023

It is with heavy hearts the family of the late Stanley White announces his passing on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital at the age of 69 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Mona; very special and precious daughter Janet; Sisters: Joyce (Gaydon), Clara (Robert); Brother: Donald (Agnes); In-laws: Sue, Eva (Garfield), Eliza, Sarah, Barbara (Harris); and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

He was predeceased by his father: Stewart; mother: Maria Jane; Sister: Elizabeth (Charlie); brother: Clifford; in-laws: Miriam, Roland, Dora (Henry), Margaret (Nelson), Alma (Gerald), Edmund, Kirby, Roland (Ivy).

Mona and Janet are so grateful for the care and support the Dialysis Unit has given to both dad and daughter. A Special thank you to Dr. Mina, Tonya, Brooke, the intensive care unit, and the nursing staff on the ward.

Stan loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing were very much top of his list. He was very happy with his many recreational toys – of course joy-riding was his speciality. Stan was a social butterfly, loved lots of company and was always the life of the party with his great singing voice.

Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 2:00, St. Thomas’ Church, Sandy Cove with Rev. Vernon Short officiating. Followed by internment of ashes in the Anglican Cemetery in Savage Cove.

WHITE, GEORGE WILLIAM

September 4, 1929 - June 13, 2023

With great sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of the late George W. White aged 93 years.  Born on September 4,1929 in Sandy Cove, NL, he was the son of the late William and Rhoda (nee: Caines) White.  He is survived by brother-in-law Douglas Parrill, special cousin and friend Calvin Whalen and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, families and friends. 

Uncle George loved his family.  He possessed a steadfast faith and was committed to the betterment of his community.  He enjoyed nature and the great outdoors, he liked having nice clothes, cars, quads and argos and he was always ready for a “good time” with family and friends. Uncle George was a great soul.

 He was predeceased by his loving parents, William and Rhoda White, brother Eldred (Dora) White, brother Anthony (Cinderella) White, sister Rita (Elias) Coles, sister Virtue Parrill, twin brother/sister (John/Rosanna) White and sister Gertrude (Wilga) White.

Our sincerest appreciation and thanks are offered to the staffs at Revera Cambridge Estates, Portugal Cove Road, St. John’s and Ivy Durley Place, Flowers Cove for their kindness and great care during Uncle George’s stay at their homes.  We also whole-heartedly thank the staff at 4 North B, Health Science Center, St. John’s for their outstanding professionalism and compassion while he was in palliative care.

In memory of Uncle George, donations may be made to St. Thomas’ Anglican Church, Sandy Cove or the Sandy Cove/Savage Cove Cemetery Fund.  Flowers are graciously accepted.

 A traditional “wake” [hymn sing] will be held at St. Thomas’ Anglican Church, Sandy Cove on Friday, June 16, 2023 beginning at 7:00 pm.  A funeral service will take place on Saturday morning at 11:00 am at St. Thomas’ Church, Sandy Cove with interment to follow at the Savage Cove Cemetery.

July 31, 1936 - March 17, 2022

It is with broken hearts the family of Nelson White announce his peaceful passing on March 17, 2022. He leaves to mourn his children, Barry (Dale), Roland (Joy), Nelson Jr. (Dorcas), Miriam (Les), Nita (Stephane); Grandchildren, Chastity (Gavin), Kelly (Christopher), Robby (Holly), Dillon (Courtney), Rendell (Keristen), Gina, Jack, Eric; Greatgrandchildren, Peyton, Anna, Macy, Skyla, Lily, Nathan, Noah, Hannah, Dustin and Brooklyn as well as a circle of extended family and friends.

January 16th, 1942 - March 22nd, 2022

It is with great sadness the family of Maria White announce her passing Saturday, March 19th, 2022, at St. Clare’s Hospital, St. John’s, NL at the age of 80 years.

Leaving to mourn with loving and fond memories, Children: Gary (Linda), Vicky (Aaron), Dale (Morris), and Jody (Frank); Grandchildren: Joey (Josie), Brittany, Gillian, Zackary, and Mia; Great-grandchildren: Parker and Ryland, as well as her Brothers (Clifford, Garfield, Hedley) and Sisters (Ella, Georgina, Ruby, Emily), and many other family and friends.

She is predeceased by her husband Gideon White, Father (Augustus Ryland), Mother (Victoria Ryland), Sister (Greta Barney), and Grandson (Morris Jr. Scanlon).

Sterling leaves with a lifetime of precious memories and love, his Children; Floyd (Joanne), Beverly (Jody), Lisa (Clarence); Grandchildren, Jordon, Brandon (Katie), Yvonne, Alexis (Jacob), Mitchel, Madi, Kate; Sisters, Beulah (Claude), Mary, Yvonne; Brother-in-law’s, John, George (Jenny), Claude (Jenny), Gary (Antoinette), Winston (Selma); Sister-in-law’s, Myra (Joseph), Myrtle (Sam), Doris (Reg), Valerie (Mervin); Special Friend, Hazareth Coles; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends. A viewing and funeral service was held from the Anglican Church in Sandy Cove on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 with Deacon Vernon Short officiating. Cremation to follow with burial at a later date. June 04, 1931 – October 22, 2019

Passed away October 22, 2019 from the Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 88 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her Daughters, Linda (Derek), Gladys (Kevin); Sons, Amos, Ossie (Jackie), Terry (Pat); her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren; Sisters, Mabel and Irene; Sister-in-law, Hazareth, Lillian, Sarah; Brother-in-law, John as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Laura was predeceased by her Husband, Freeman; Granddaughter, Peggy; Parents, George and Beatrice Coles; Parents-in-law, Stephen and Clara White; Sisters and Brothers; as well as Sister-in-laws and Brothers-in-law. Passed away April 10th, 2018 from Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 94 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her Son, George Will (Barb); Daughters, Ivy (Wade), Philomena (Abe), Cornelia (James); Grandchildren, Jamie (Kaye), Justin, Dwayne (Janice), Cammy, Joanne (Floyd), Jaylynn (Brandon), Tonya (Mark), Trudy (Jamie), Tara Lynn (Billy); Great-grandchildren, Jemma, Alex, Hannah, Hailey, Jamie Lee, Jorden, Bailey, James, Ryder, Madi, Kate, Luke, Nate; Brother George Will White; Sister Virtue Parrill (Douglas); Brother-in-law Wilga White, as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. WHITE, SELINA

It is with heavy hearts the family of the late Mrs. Selina White of Sandy Cove announce her passing on the 17th day of May 2017, Mrs. Selina White was in her 89th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her Sons Isaac, George(Lucy), Daughters Madeline, Nancy(Grenfell), Wavey(Calvin), Thirteen Grandchildren, Twenty-Three Great Grandchildren, and Four Great Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by her Sister Alma Diamond. Visitation was held at the St. Thomas Anglican Church in Sandy Cove from which the funeral service was held on Saturday May 20th, 2017 with Rev.
