Passed away October 10th, 2017 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital at the age of 88 years. Harvey Taylor was born in Raleigh to John & Elsie Taylor on May 19th, 1929. He grew into a hardworking man with a wonderful sense of humour. In the early 1960’s, Harvey found work at the old Viking Inn on Pistolet Bay. It was there that he met his true love, Catherine, who was employed at the Inn. They married in 1963, at the United Church in Raleigh, where they settled down to raise their family. “In sickness and in health” they were always there for each other. Kay and Harvey raised their children, Ford and Amanda, who have been very supportive throughout his illness. In addition to his humour, Harvey was always an energetic worker. Even after he “retired”, Harvey loved getting out into the woods to work at his firewood. Harvey was known to set his family and friends into gales of laughter at the many comical things he would say. His smile made you feel right at home. He touched many people’s lives, and he will be greatly missed. He leaves to mourn with a lifetime of memories his wife Catherine “Kay”, Children Ford (Wanda), Amanda (Craig); Grandsons Nicholas and Brock; Brother Hedley; Sisters Nellie (Bill), Gert, and Janice. He was predeceased by his parents John and Elsie Taylor, Brother Norman, and Sisters Ethel and Stella. Visitation took place from the United Church in Raleigh from where the funeral service took place on October 12, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Gus Pendleton officiating. Interment followed. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.
