Mr. Winston Mitchelmore of Green Island Cove passed away in his home on December 19, 2024 surrounded by his loving family and friends at the age of 84 years.

He leaves to treasure memories, his Children: Marlene (Eric), Faye (Gerald), Julie (Harvey), Milton (Susie) and Josie (Dwight); Grandchildren: Jordan (Kelsey), Danny (Shelly), Susie (Chet), Chuck (Robin), Brandi (Lewis), Brady (Laura), Robby (Cassandra), Michelle (Youeil), Jada (Matthew), Monique (Jones); 19 Great Grandchildren; Special Friend and Partner: Carrie; Siblings: Milton (Patty), Elaine (Llewelyn), Alvin, As well as a large circle of family and friends

Winston is predeceased by his Wife: Dorcas; Son: Winston Jr.; and Parents: Elijah and Ethel.

The funeral service was held from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Lower Cove on December 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Canon Vernon Short officiating. Interment followed in the Green Island Cove Cemetery.

PARRILL, ELIZA

March 17, 1942 - October 20, 2024

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our Mom/Nan at the Curtis Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony, on Sunday October 20th at the age of 82.

She will be missed by her Children: Shirley (Barry), Ward (Celia), Ruby (Ed), Jarvis; Grandchildren: Sabrina, Pamela (Cory), Pierrette (Murray), Tamara (Steve), Nathan (Penney), Kendra (Greg), Belle (Nathan); Great grandchildren: Keegan (Theresa), Kylan (Kanisha), Kaine, Kaci Rae, Kai, Reid, Bella and Orion.

She is also survived by her 2 sisters: Nellie Parrill and Emily Patey; Sisters-in-law: Esther Elliott and Naomi Mitchelmore.

Eliza is predeceased by her husband: John; Daughter: Rhonda; Son: Elvis; Her parents: Austin and Evangeline Mitchelmore; Sister: Cora; Brothers: Reginald (Mary), Curtis Mitchelmore; Brother-in-laws: Ethelbert (Kitty), Ivany (Rita), Doug (Virtue), Norman Parrill and Herb Patey; and Sister in law: Frances (John).

The family would like to thank the staff at Ivy Durley Place, Flowers Cove Health Center and Curtis Memorial Hospital for the exceptional care and compassion shown to our Mom/Nan over the past few months. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

Visitation will take place at St. Andrew's Church, Lower Cove beginning the evening of Tuesday October 22, 2024. The family service will take place on Wednesday, October 23rd at 7pm. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Canon Vernon Short officiating. Interment to follow.

HUGHES, CALVIN

August 3, 1947 - February 24, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Calvin Hughes on February 24th, 2023 after a short battle with cancer at James Patton Memorial Hospital in Gander surrounded by his loving family.

Calvin was born to Henry and Isabella Hughes in Green Island Brook on August 3, 1947. He married the love of his life, Donna Applin on December 28, 1971. He was a devoted dad to 4 children; Sherman, Rocky, Tammy, and Eliza whom he loved deeply to the very end.

Calvin lived in Green Island Brook until 1996 when he moved to Goose Bay where he met some of the most special friends and coworkers that he deeply cared for. It is while he was in Goose Bay that the pride and joy of his life, Shikara was born. Shikara was certainly “Pop’s girl” who could do no wrong. Right to the very end she held her pops hand.

Left to mourn with loving memories, his wife of 51 years, Donna; Children: Sherman (Kaye), Rocky (Kim), Tammy (Scott), Eliza (Shane), and Shikara (Kyle); Grandchildren: Jamie Leigh, Julia, Irelyn, Jadea, Tucker, Paul, Jack, Jayden, and Chloe; Siblings: Nathanial, Viola (Albert), Wilfred (Elaine), Wilga (Amy), Ronald (Millie), Millie (Chesley), Eileen (Donald), Lorraine (Selby), Harvey (Julie), Vina (Jimmy), and Maisie (Lloyd). He will be greatly missed by a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends

Calvin is predeceased by his Parents, Henry and Isabella Hughes; Sister, Rosie Parrill; Special brother-in-law, Ronald Campbell; in-laws, William (Bill) and Eliza Applin.

Visitation to take place from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Lower Cove beginning the evening of Sunday, February 26th, 2023. Visitation will continue Monday February 27, 2023 with the family service taking place Monday evening. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Vernon Short officiating. Interment to follow in Green Island Brook.

WALSH, LAWRENCE

January 19, 1966 – April 13, 2019

Lawrence Walsh was born on January 19th 1966, in Flower's Cove to Pearl and Michael Walsh. Lawrence lived in Nameless Cove all his life. On October 15th 1988, Lawrence was overjoyed with the birth of his son Cory. Then on April 19th 1998, he welcomed 2 precious baby girls, Megan & Morgan. He loved fishing in the summer and ski-dooing in the winter. He especially loved going to his cabin with his partner Beverly, whom he loved very much. Lawrence had many joys in his life, but his proudest joy was probably the birth of his grandson Brody Whom he dearly loved to boast about. Lawrence passed away on April 13, 2019 at the age of 53 years. He will be forever missed and remembered by his family and friends. He shared his loving memories with his Children, Corey (Laura), Morgan (Andrew), Megan (Ben); Grandson, Brody; Partner, Beverly; Parents, Mike & Pearl; Brothers & Sisters, Katrina (Fenton), Jarvis (Lisa), Velda (Kirby); Niece & Nephews, Terri, Christopher, Colton, Cole, Nicholas, Jeff; Great Nephew, Noah Michael; as well as being remembered by Aunts, Uncles, Family & Friends. MITCHELMORE, GARFIELD

Passed away peacefully on 23rd of July 2018 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 86. Garfield was born the son of a fisherman in Green Island Cove on January 23, 1932.  He was a man with a strong work ethic whose work life exposed him to a number of diverse industries and took him to all regions of this beautiful Province (Stephenville, La Scie, Gander, Goose Bay, and St. John’s).  His longest period of consecutive employment was 24 years (1966 – 1990) with Ultramar Canada.  He took great pride in ownership of home, property and personal assets.  He was a proud family man and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Garfield will always be remembered by his loving wife of 58 years Alma; daughter Yvonne (Frank); sons Bob (Fern), Garfield (Pam), Rick and Albert (Cathy); grandchildren Louise, Christa, David, Paul, Adam, Kelly, Brad, Ryan, Kyle, and Lucas; great-grandchildren Haley, Blake, Callie, and Emma; sisters Gladys (George) and Miriam (late Ronald).  Garfield was predeceased by his son David, parents Albert and Mary Ann; brothers George Henry (late Myrtle) and Stewart.

McLEAN, EVERTON

Passed away May 5th, 2017 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital at the age of 75 years. He leaves to mourn, his Wife Evelyn; Children Dalton (Colleen) McLean, Garrison (Manette) McLean, Faith (Jamie) Payne; Grandchildren Everton Jr (Karen) McLean, Garett (Anna) McLean, Brittany McLean, Alex (Amy) McLean, Andrew (Bianca) McLean, Justin Payne, Ryan (Danielle) Payne; Great-Grandchildren Gabrielle McLean, Lincoln McLean, Russell McLean. Adrian McLean, Alexander McLean; Brother Baxter McLean; Sister Pearl (Stewart) Mitchelmore, as well as a wide circle of family and friends. Everton was predeceased by his Parents Leonard and Beatrice McLean as well as his sisters Virtue McLean and Belinda Hughes. He was predeceased by his parents John and Bridget Hughes; Siblings Stella, Mariah, Baxter, Claude and Whyman; sister-in-law’s Rosie and Margaret Hughes; and brother-in-law Orval Neil Caddy.
