EDDISON, LYDIA MATILDA

July 25, 1943 - August 21, 2024

Born on July 25, 1943 to Cyrus & Alma Fillier of Roddickton. She moved to Main Brook in early 1963 and there she married Norman Eddison on April 18,1963.

She had 4 Children (Denise, Randy, Rick, and Rodger) She spent most of her younger years raising her children and working in the local Fish Plant. She really enjoyed Knitting, Gardening, and she dearly loved her ‘Soap Operas’. She welcomed everyone into her home with open arms and she cooked up a good many ‘Scoffs’ in her time.

When her children were younger she had many children/teenagers staying over for sleepovers and she always made sure everyone had plenty to eat. She never had a lot of money during her life but she never let her children do without anything. She certainly enjoyed spending time with her Family & Friends.

She leaves to mourn with many loving memories, her Daughter: Denise (Kenny); Sons: Rick (Tara), Randy (Stephanie), Rodger (Connie); Brothers: David, Jeffery (Rhonda); Wilson (Rita); Special Friends (whom she called sisters): Josephine Jones, Shirley Pilgrim; also, Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, and a large number of relatives and friends.

Lydia is predeceased by her husband: Norman Eddison, Parents: Cyrus & Alma Fillier; Brother: Norman Fillier “Brud”; and Sister: Patsy Penney.

Visitation will take place from St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Main Brook beginning the evening of Sunday, August 25, 2024 and will continue daily until the funeral service on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Canon Terrance Coates officiating. Interment to follow.

BENNETT, NELLIE LORRAINE

September 2, 1931—July 15, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Nellie Bennett announce her passing on July 15, 2023 at the John M. Gray Center in St. Anthony at the ago of 91. She passed peacefully with her family by her side.

Nellie was born in Straitsview on September 2, 1931 to Parents Albert and Matilda Hedderson. After losing her mother at 2 years of age, she was raised by her Father, 7 brothers, and Sister. She met her husband, Walter and they married on October 1950 and moved to Main Brook.

Together they raised 7 children. She was such a loving wife and mother. She was crafty at everything she touched, whether it was sewing, knitting, or gardening. She was an amazing cook that let no one leave her home with an empty belly, and most of the time they left with a goody bag from her pantry of preserves. She and Walter operated a service station and sewing shop for many years together.

To celebrate her memory she leaves behind her children: Judy (Ambrose), Peggy, Bryan (Janice), Jean (Edward), Dianne (Carl), Paula (Edward), Perry (Cathy), as well as 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and a large circle of loved ones that have been touched by her beautiful Life.

Nellie is predeceased by her Parents: Albert and Matilda Hedderson; Son-in-law: Tom Mitchelmore; Brothers: James, Mark, Noah, Edgar, Heber, Sam, Isaac, John; Sister: Marjorie.

Visitation to take place from the Anglican Church in Main Brook, on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, time to be announced with the family service taking place Wednesday evening. The funeral will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 20, 2023 with Rev. Short officiating. Interment to follow.

DAWE, LARRY JOSEPH

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our sweet brother and Uncle Larry Joseph Dawe at the age of 56 years. Enjoying the simpler things in life, it took little to make him happy. Larry had a deep love for sports, friends, and family gatherings. He loved the comradery of friends and enjoyed a heartfelt laugh when there was one to be had. He was the most selfless, caring and kind person who would leave a lasting imprint on the heart of those who had the privilege of meeting him. Left to mourn are; his sister Lillian (Ralph) Taylor; brother Sterling (Audrey) Dawe; Nieces Carla(Bart); Debbie (Todd); Samantha( Draper); and Amanda as well as his very special Friends Don and Ada Weir. Larry is predeceased by his parents Caleb and Elizabeth, sister Lavinia and brother Medford, who will be there to meet him with love and open arms, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that made the journey before him. The memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Raleigh NL, at 11am on the 26th of December 2022 with Rev. Arthur Kinsella officiating, burial will follow in the Community Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. MITCHELMORE, THOMAS GUY

It is with great sadness that the family of Thomas Guy Mitchelmore announce his passing on Friday August 20th, 2021 at the age of 75 years.

Tom was born on October 10th, 1945 in St Anthony to Guy and Maisie Mitchelmore. He met and married Peggy Bennett of Main Brook on August 29th,1969. Together they raised 3 daughters Rhonda, Debbie, and Sheri. Tom served in the Canadian military with the Black Watch Regiment in Cyprus from 1965-1968 a part of the United Nations peace keeping forces. After serving his country he returned to Newfoundland to work as a professional fisherman. In the late 1980's he worked as hunting and fishing guide with Tuckamore Lodge until he retired in 2011.

Tom was a generous and kind man. A good Samaritan, who would never see a stranger or someone in need stranded. He was an avid hunter and fisherman with a great love for the outdoors. He will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched. He will be mourned by his wife Peggy, daughters Rhonda (Mike), Debbie (Mark) and Sheri (Derek) and his six grandchildren; Jessica, Michael, Joshua, Matthew, Coale and Madison. In addition, he will be mourned by his siblings Ross (Linda), Sheila, George (Kim) and Brenda (Frank) and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and close friends. ELLIOTT, GEORGE EDWARD

George Edward Elliott
January 12, 1926 – November 24, 2020

George Met Mary Dyke When she travelled to Locke’s Cove as a schoolteacher, they married on June 26, 1946. Together they raised a family of eight children, 2 boys and six girls. George worked as a fisherman for most of his life. He always enjoyed telling stories and sharing memories of life in out-port Locke’s Cove. He was well known for his boat building and making snowshoes. Left to mourn Georges passing are his wife of 74 years Mary, Son Guy, Daughters Daphne Elliott, Melinda Mitchelmore, Marilyn Parrill, Wavey Strangemore, Juanita Elliott and Sharon Elliott, As well as 16 grandchildren, 22 Great grandchildren and 1 Great great grandchild. George was predeceased by his parents Lot and Rachael Elliott, Brothers Fred and Ernest Elliott, Sisters Grace Patey, Violet Loder and Gladys Elliott and his son Lloyd Elliott. The funeral Service took place on the 27th of November, 2020 at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Main Brook at 2:30pm. Funeral Service was officiated by Rev. RICHARDS, HERMAN GLENN

Passed away Sunday, September 17th, 2017 at the age of 50 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his spouse Penny; Daughter Laura and Son Lorne; Grandmother/Mother Elizabeth Richards; Father Ben Denney (Betty), 14 Brothers and Sisters (any their respective families); in-laws Gilbert and Mary Kinsella; cousins, especially Sabrina Whyatt as well as many more extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his Mother Evelyn Denney, nephew Tyrone Burden, Grandfather/Father John Richards, grandparents Elizabeth and Lorenzo Denney and sister in law Lois Johnson. Visitation was held from St. Paul’s Anglican Church in St. Carols until the funeral on Friday, September 22, 2017 from St. Mary’s Anglican Church in St. Anthony at 2:00 pm with Rev. Katie Flynn officiating. Interment followed at St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery in St. Carols. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. RICHARDS, FREDERICK

Frederick Richards (Sr.) was born on July 4th, 1917 in St. Carol’s to Abraham and Maryann (Colbourne). He was one of six children. On February 24th, 1942 he married Keziah Saunders and together they raised five children and one grandchild. He spent most of his life fishing in and around St. Carol’s. He loved tending to his garden, picking berries and other outdoor activities but his greatest love was his family. Frederick leaves to mourn sons: Roy (Christine), Gordon (Margaret); daughters: Shirley (Willis), Faye (Hedley), Judy (Harrison); 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; one sister in law Elizabeth Dorcas; many other friends and family. He was pre-deceased by Wife Keziah; parents Abraham and Maryann; Twin brother James; brother Harry (Jessie); sisters Grace (Lewis), Martha (Thomas) and Emma (Walter).  Visitation was held at St. Paul's Anglican Church in St. Carols, from which the funeral service  took place at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 21st, with Rev. Mark Wilkoff officiating. burial followed the service in the community cemetery. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M.
