GENGE, LEVENIA

It’s with heavy hearts the family of Levenia Genge announce her peacefully passing with family by her side on Wednesday, November 13 at the Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital in her 88th year.

Levenia was born on July 12th, 1936, in Anchor Point, Newfoundland. She married the love of her life, Norman, at the age of 18 on December 12, 1954. They lived in Anchor Point where they raised their family and made a livelihood in the fishery.

While raising her family Levenia helped her husband with daily fishing duties. Her work ethic was so admirable. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. In her later years she worked at the local fish plant. Levenia and Norman moved into Ivy Durley retirement home in 2003. Her final months were spent at Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital.

Levenia enjoyed going to card games, but what she loved most was camping. In the mid 70’s family camping trips began and every opportunity they had they headed a the camp group. She also enjoyed “old English “TV shows, Young & Restless and all “the news”.

Levenia leaves to mourn her 4 children; Rayfield (Kim), Oscar, (Bonnie), Norm (Donna), and Gloria (Ken); 6 grandchildren Jeff (Ada), Brittany (David), Megan (Dylan), Jordan (Brianna), Neely and Alexa; 5 great grandchildren Renee, Finnley, Tylan, Harper and Lindsay; 7 siblings Wilfred, Vivian, Gloria (Robin), Stella (Clayton), ;Rowena (Ken), Jim (Betty), Helena (Melvin); 2 sister-in-laws Bernice and Pauline; and 2 brother-in-laws Isaac and Jim.

Levenia is predeceased by her husband Norman; parents William and Kathleen; brother Winston; sisters Annastasha, Hazel, and Juanita; mother and father-in-law Bertha and Elijah; brother-in-laws Simeon, Ronald, Chesley, Clyde, and Howard; sister-in-laws Olive, Dulcie, Millie, Dora, and Susanna.

We would like to extend our gratitude to KM Fillatres funeral home, Rev. Canon Vernon Short, as well as the staff of Ivy Durley Place and Charles Curtis Hospital.

Visitation well be held at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in Anchor Point beginning the afternoon on Sunday, November 17. The family service will be held at 7pm Sunday evening. The funeral service will be on Monday, November 18 at 11am with Rev. Canon Vernon Short officiating.

GENGE, JOCK

April 6, 1956 - November 2, 2024

It is with a heavy heart that the family of Jock Genge announce his passing on November 2, 2024, at the age of 68 years.

Jock passed away peacefully at the John M. Gray Center in St. Anthony, NL with his beloved wife of 40 years, Dale, at his side.

Jock grew up in Deadman's Cove but moved to Labrador City at the age of 18 where he began building his life. He worked for 30 years as an electrician with the Iron Ore Company of Canada and spent many years as an active Canadian Ranger.

Jock spent his time in Labrador City raising his family. A lover of all things outdoors, he enjoyed boating, skidooing, hunting and scuba diving, but his favourite was a night at the cabin with good company and a game of cards.

Leaving to mourn are his wife Dale (nee Gould), his daughter Danielle (Jesse), son Christopher (Kerri-Lynn), grandchildren Karlee, Hannah, Isaac & Alyssa, sisters Joy (Mike) & Una, mother-in-law Bridget Gould, brothers-in-law Oz (Mary Alice) & Dean, sisters-in-law Sandra (Bruce), Ivy & Mona (Gerald), nieces & nephews, and a large group of extended family & friends.

Predeceased by his parents Rendell & Mabel (nee Chambers), brother Floyd, father-in- law Isaac, brothers-in-law Harvey, Maxwell, Ike (Poi), & Melvin Coates.

Jock will forever be remembered as a man with a big heart, contagious laughter and a smile that could brighten any room.

A celebration of life will take place at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in Anchor Point on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Canon Vernon Short officiating. Interment to take place at a later date.

GENGE, DULCIE

November 24, 1927 - September 24, 2024

Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at the John M. Gray- Patridgeberry Path, Long Term Care Facility in St. Anthony, NL at the age of 96.

Dulcie was born in Deep Cove, NL to Abram and Alice Genge. She was the oldest of a family of 7. She married the love of her life, Ronald Genge on May 8, 1947 in Anchor Point. it was there that they made a life together and raised their family. Her husband passed away at the age of 62, 37 years ago. Dulcie continued to live at home, surrounded by her family whom she watched and admired daily as her family expanded. She loved each and every one unconditionally.

Dulcie lived in her home until the age of 90. She had many hobbies that she enjoyed. She loved sewing, knitting, gardening, cooking- especially cooking Hot Dinners for her crowd and baking “the best homemade bread”, just to name a few.

She moved to the Ivy Durley Place on May 31, 2018 where she enjoyed herself to the fullest and was treated like royalty. On September 25, 2023 she moved to the Patridgeberry Path wing of the John M. Gray where she spent her last and final year. Everything was always “the best” and she was loved by all.

Our Mom was the heart of our family who always put the needs of her family first. She was a friend to all and she loved everyone. A kind, caring and giving person who faced every challenge head on with courage and determination.

She leaves to mourn her Daughters: Linda, Bertha (Doug), Hilda (Eddie); 6 Grandchildren: Kim (Darryl), Lon (Yvette), Rodney (April), Dane (Jadean), Benay (Troy), Andy (Jennifer); 12 Great-grandchildren: Ian (Tori), Boyd (Danielle), Kyle, Owen, Chloe (Dylan), Ryan, Eric, Luke, Lexie, Kate, Kennedy, and Sophie; Youngest brother: Isaac; Sister-in-law: Jessie.

Dulcie is predeceased by her husband: Ronald Genge; Parents: Abram and Alice Genge; Sister: Tena; Brothers: Kirby, Stedman, Roland, Noah; and Son-in-law: Donald Way.

April 26th, 1940 - March 30, 2024

With great sadness, the family of Clyde Genge announce his passing at Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital on Saturday March 30th at the age of 83 years.

Clyde was born on April 26th, 1940 to Jacob and Agnes Genge. He spent most of his life fishing and working where he made many friends along the way. He married the love of his life, Myrtle Pittman on January 5th,1966. Together they lived a full life of love and devotion to their nieces and nephews and the family that surrounded them.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories; his wife: Myrtle, sister-in-law: Gertie, brother-in-law: Wilfred Sr, nieces: Effie (Ernest), Trudy (Michael), Connie (Shawn), Lindsey (Dwight), Jelisa (Corey), Kendall (Brady) and Laci and their kids that brought so much joy to his life, Landon, Avery, Avril, Amber, Jacob, Lakelee, Ellie, Madison and Heidi.

Also left to mourn is a large circle of friends and family.

It’s with great sadness that the family of Horace Allingham announce his passing at Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital on Saturday February 24, 2024 at the age of 89 years.

Horace Allingham was born December 21, 1934 to William and Gladys (Hancock) Allingham. He spent most of his days of his life fishing and working, where he made many friends along the way. He was Married to the love of his life, Hazel Marie Colbourne and they married on January 22, 1958. Together they had 6 children who he loved dearly.

He left to mourn his children: Pamela (Mario), Sharon (Barry), Sheila (Randy), Lynn (Tim), Lois (Morgan), Paul (Blenda). He was also blessed with 11 Grandchildren who he cherished so much; Tammy, Ashley, Barry, Terri, Scott, David, Shandi, Brittany, Kyle and Jade as well as 9 Great-Grandchildren: Devon, Dana, Riley, Max, Nash, Ava, Jake, Emma, and Wesley; his sisters Grace, Triffie (Earnest), Laverne and June (Ralph); Brothers Edgar (Elsie), Stedman and Llewellyn (Thelma). He also leaves behind a large circle of family and friends.

He was pre-deceased by his parents: William and Gladys; wife Hazel and his grandson Dillon; Sisters olive, Drucella and Alma; brothers Basil. Thomas and Rex.

Visitation will take place St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in Cooks Harbour beginning Sunday, February 25, 2024. The family service will take place on Monday February 26, 2024. From 7-8 pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday February 27, 2024 at 2 pm with Rev. Arthur Kinsella Officiating.
