APPLIN, WALTER ROYAL

August 27th, 1955 - May 5th, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of Walter Royal Applin announce his passing at his home in Shoal Cove West on Friday, May 5th at the age of 67 years.

Royal fished along side his brother Howard until 2004 when his sickness first took hold.

Royal leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his partner Mary Ann, daughter Amanda, Granddaughter Destiny (Riley), Great Grandson Leo, Brother Howard (Mildred), Sisters Ellen, Louisa (Lorenzo), Special nieces Bernice (Andy) & Nakita(Jonathan), nephews Walter (Matthew), Dennis (Cassie), Norman (Lisa), Shane(Lucy), Truman (Bernice), Nieces Sheilagh (Lloyd), Lisa (Jim), Christine, Celia (Ward), Ellen(Mike) & families, sister & brother in laws Casey, Connie, Marie, Nancy, Joanne, Kelly, Patsy, Elaine, Robin & Donald, special cousin & friend Isaac Coombs (Kim).

Royal was predeceased by his parents Mahala & Walter Applin, Mother & Father In Law Mary & Donald Buckle, Sister Marjorie (Nat) Gibbons, nephews Royal & Herman Gibbons.

Bernice would like to send a special thanks over the past year to Dennis Gibbons who has went above and beyond with taking Uncle Royal to all his appointments. Dennis was always ready to go when I couldn't. This meant more to both me and Uncle Royal than he'll ever realize. The bond between these two were more than just Uncle/Nephew. I cannot thank Dennis enoughfor everything he has done. Another cousin/friend, Isaac Coombs, was always there whenever Uncle Royal needed anything. He was always only a phone call away and was ready to do anything that he needed done.

The family would like to thank Beverly Ann Myers/Reid for being a quick response to our phone call on the night he passed. Thank you for making phone calls that needed to be made. Thank you to Tracy House, Dr. Irfan, Ced Caines, Zack Osmond and the Nursing Staff at RGHC, and the RCMP for the compassion that was shown to myself and the rest of the family.

Visitation to take place from St. Margaret‘s of Scotland Anglican Church in Reefs Harbour on Friday, May 12, 2023 with the family service taking place in the evening. The funeral will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Coates officiating.

COOMBS, EFFIE

October 17, 1943 - March 17, 2022

Passed away peacefully at her residence in Shoal Cove West on March 17, 2022 at the age of 78.
Effie was born in Shoal Cove West to Leah and Jack on October 17, 1943. She was the best Mom, Sister, Aunt, and Friend to all.
She leaves to mourn her Son, Perry, her world as well as her sister Dulcie.
She is predeceased by her Mother, Leah; Father, Jack; Common-law Husband, Jake; Sisters, Dorcas, Emily, Burnidette; Brothers, Leander, Stewart, Stedman, and Gerald.
The family would like to thank her many friends who were there along her journey.

DOYLE, YVONNE PAULINE (nee Baines)

June 17, 1956 – February 14, 2020

Yvonne (Vonnie) Doyle nee Baines, born June 17th 1956 peacefully passed away on February 14th 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Vonnie has a genuine heart, she enjoyed socializing, playing darts with her amazing friends and spending time with her family she loved dearly especially her three grandsons. Vonnie leaves to mourn her devoted husband, Doff; Mother, Dorcas Baines; Children, Noah (Chatal), Vicki (Michael); Grandsons, Alex, Nicholas and Kyle; Siblings, John, Hubert (Lucy), George (Darlene), Joy (Steve), Cyril (Theresa), Effie (Bax), Bob, Leah (Jeff); Sister-in-laws, Brother-in-laws, Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and friends. She is predeceased by her father Noah Baines, twin sister Jill, and brothers Ivan, Noah, and Pierce. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Noreen Fardy and all doctors, nurses and staff of Labrador Grenfell Health. Visitation to begin at St. Margaret’s Anglican Church in Reefs Harbour, the afternoon of February 20, 2020 with the family service taking place at 7:00 pm that evening. HILLYARD, NORMAN WILLIAM

Passed away on Feb 11th, 2018 at Western Memorial hospital at the age of 74 years. He leaves to mourn wife Julia daughters Judy, Michelle (Bruce) granddaughter Tianna Avery-Hillyard; Sisters Irene, Elizabeth (Curtis), Mary (Clarence), Rebecca (Mathew), Maisie; Brother Eric; Half sister Cora; Brother in law Stephen (Blenda), Samuel (Eileen), Harvey (Barbara), Stan (Ethel), Bill; Sisters in law Gertie, Glenda, Blanche, Pearl, Evelyn, Annie. Norman is predeceased by his parents William and Dorothy; brothers Mike, Bill, Harold, Ted; Sister Rachel; and Parents in Law Aaron and Leah Applin. Cremation took place. Visitation is being held from St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church in Shoal Cove West on Monday, February 19th, 2018 at 9:00 am with Rev. Jennifer officiating. Inurnment followed.

September 25, 1941 - January 10, 2016
Age 74 years

It is with great sadness that the family of Ruby Coombs announce her sudden passing at her home on Sunday, January 10, 2016. Ruby was born on Current Island on September 25, 1941 - the youngest child of Amelia and Walter Coombs. She lived on Current Island until she married Wilfred Coombs in 1964 and moved to Shoal Cove West. Ruby and Wilfred had two sons, Wilfred William (Bill) and John and one could truthfully say that Wilf and the two boys were her whole life. Ruby worked at the fish plant for all her working career until she retired. Ruby lost her beloved husband, Wilfred, to cancer in 1988 and from that time on, she was devoted to her sons. Ruby wasn't much for being out and about, but she could always be counted on to cook when there was a fund-raiser on the go. Ruby suffered another devastating loss in August, 2013 when her son, Bill, died after a short fight with cancer. She had not recovered from that loss when she lost two sisters within a very short time. Rest in peace, Ruby. She leaves to mourn her son John (Vonnie), daughter-in-law Gloria, sister Virginia (Calvin), and brothers William and George (Mamie), extended family Derek (Jackie) Caines and family, Dottie (Eddie) Blanchard and family, Nicholas (Kristy) Caines and family as well as a large number of sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Ruby was predeceased by her husband Wilfred, son Bill, parents Amelia and Walter Coombs, brothers John and Jacob, and sisters Caroline, Matilda, and Myrtle. Visitation was held at St. Margaret's Anglican Church in Reef's Harbour from where the funeral took place at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 with Rev. Harvey officiating. HYNES, KEVIN

Kevin was born on April 13th, 1964 to Hazel and Edward Hynes in St. Anthony NL. during his short life, Kevin had much sickness, He loved to salmon fish and take road trips with his buddies, he enjoyed the simple things. Kevin Passed away in to peace on the 9th of December, 2014 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 50 years. left to mourn his passing are his brothers and sisters Peggy (Ronald), Joan (Boyd), Terry (Delores), Donna (Greg), Eddie (Erdie), Lee, Wayne (Bonnie), nephews philip, Michael, Derick, Chris, Stephanie, Robin, aunt Martha and Uncle Don, Adam, Hazel, Paul, Sabrina, Smantha, Annalee, Emily, Tiara, Michaela, Riley, Charlotte, Thomas, Thea, Thorden, Charles, Anjelika, Abigail, Dominick And Avery, a large circle of friends especially his buddies Glen Pilgrim and Frank Simms and "Buddy " His cat.  In his short life he seen the passing of his parents Hazel and Edward, his grand parents Mary and James Patey, Charles and Janet Hynes and his niece Cheryl-Dee. Visitation was held at the Funeral home in St. Anthony, after which the funeral service took place at The St. Mary's Anglican Church in St. Anthony with Rev'd Fr. Paul C. Findlay Officiating. Cremation followed the Service with burial to be announced at a later date. Funeral services Were entrusted to Kerry M. COOMBS, OLGA BERNICE

Passes away in to peace on the 30th of November at The Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, Olga Bernice Coombs of Shoal Cove West in her 61st year. Olga leaves with loving memories her Husband Melvin Baines, her son Lars Coombs (Thelma), her sisters Vivan (Sted), Elizabeth (Arch), Lavinia, Rowena (Cosmo), Bessie (Stew), Belinda (Steve), brothers Lambert (Iris), Israel (Kathleen), sisters in law Olga (Albert), Joyce (Jim), Iris (Lambert), Shirley, Katherine (Harvey), Augustine, Ruby, Dorcas, Brothers in law Wilf (Thereasa), Hayward (Jessie), George (Eliz), Angus as well as a large circle of Extended family and friends. Despite her young age Olga lived to see the passing of her father lambert, her mother eva, her brothers Wilfred and Leslie, her sister Mamie, her mother in law Alma, father in law George, brothers in law Noah, Curling, Nat, Leander, Harold, Leslie, sisters in law Virginia Lucy and Thereasa. Visitation was held at St. Margaret's Anglican Church in Reefs Harbour, from which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on Thursday December 4th 2014 with Rev. Harold Harvey and Lay Person Bernice Baines officiating. Cremation Followed the service. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M.
