HUMBY, LESTER

February 16, 1950 - October 29, 2023

Lester Humby was born in St. Lunaire on February 16th, 1950 to Joseph and Jessie Humby. On September 24th, 1976 he married the love of his life, Judy Blake. They had many great years together and raised 3 children who he loved dearly.

He was known to be a hard worker by all who knew him. Lester was a fisherman, he built boats and did carpentry all throughout his life. He was also a concrete finisher in later years. Lester enjoyed hunting moose and seal, fishing, and thoroughly enjoyed being in the woods.

He leaves to mourn his Wife, Judy; Sons, Todd (Vanessa), Alvhon; Daughter: Jennifer (Charley) Curl; 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; Brothers: Reginald (Regina), Gordon (Margie), Nelson (Joan); Sister: Irene Hillier as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.

Lester is predeceased by his Parents: Joseph and Jessie Humby; Brothers: William, Wilbert, Alvohn, Truman, and Harold; Sister: Florence Patey.

Visitation to take place from Calvary Pentecostal church in St. Lunaire-Griquet beginning Wednesday, November 1, 2023 and continuing until the funeral on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Butler officiating. Interment to follow.

HUMBY, EDITH ALBERTHA

July 7, 1944 - August 29, 2020

Edith was born in Roddickton to Edward and Flossie (nee: Pollard ) Blanchard on July 7, 1944. Edith married Harold Humby of St. Lunaire on Oct 13, 1960 and and made their home there. They were blessed with two children, Flossie and Wilbert. Edith passed peacefully into the presence of her heavenly father on August 29, 2020 at the John M. Grey Center in St. Anthony at the age of 76 years old, where she was reunited with her loving family members. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children; Flossie (Denley) Hedderson and Wilbert (Norma) Humby. Grandchildren, Robin (Susie), Rikki (Krista), Roger, Robert (Chanelle), Rhea, River, Cody (Holly), Nick, Zachary, and 13 great grandchildren. Sisters, Helen and Joyce (Val Carroll); brothers; Edward (Mary), William (May), Ricky (Bonnie). As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Edith was predeceased by her husband Harold Humby. Parents, Edward and Flossie, brothers and sister in-law, Ross and Barry (Katie). Parents in-law; Joseph and Jesse Humby, one sister in-law and five brothers in-law. Cremation was entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director. Visitation will be held at the Pentecostal Church in St. Lunaire - Griquet on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 12:30-1:30 pm (attendance via request or invitation only). The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday Sept. 18th, 2021 (attendance via Request or invitation only) with Pastor Bill Harnum Officiating, Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

HUMBY, VIOLA ELIZABETH

February 15th, 1933 - January 13th, 2020

Viola Elizabeth Humby (nee Earle) was born to Augustus and Mary Anne Earle of St. Lunaire on February 15, 1933. She was one of nine children. In 1949 she married John Humby of St. Lunaire and together they raised eight children. She was a home maker for all her life and worked hard to provide for her family. She loved her garden where she grew all her favourite vegetables. One of her greatest hobbies was knitting and she spent much time knitting socks, sweaters, mitts etc. for whoever needed them. Many, many hours she spent preparing for the long winter months by picking berries and drying rounders and caplin to feed her family. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Each one was special to her and she was known to always send each child a card on their birthday with a little money tucked inside. Above all, Viola loved the Lord and was a faithful member of her home church. She held the WM group close to her heart and was more than generous in her giving her time and financial support to the church. Viola Leaves to Mourn her daughters, Gladys (Lloyd), Mildred (Kevin) & Evelyn; Sons, Wallace, Mervin (Suzanne), Sandy, Dale, Ren; Brothers, Garth (Donna), Herbert (Pearl); Sister Marilyn, 14 Grandchildren & 18 Great-grandchildren. Viola will also be greatly missed by a large circle of other relatives, close friends and church family. Viola was Predeceased by her Husband, John; Parents, Augustus & Mary Ann Earle; Sisters, Evelyn, Florence & Daisy; Brothers, Tom & John. Visitation was held from the St/ Lunaire-Griquet Pentecostal Tabernacle from where the funeral was held on Friday, January 17th, 2020 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Bill Harnum officiating. BUSSEY, ROY LLOYD

November 16, 1944 – June 20, 2019

Passed away June 20, 2019 at the age of 74 years. Roy was born in St. Anthony on November 16, 1944 to Garland and Sadie Bussey of St. Lunaire. He was the youngest of four children. On December 17, 1964, he married the love of his life, Mar Compton. Together they raised two children. As a young man, Roy fished alongside his father his Uncle Jake and Cousin Guy. He fished for most of his life. In later years, he worked as a weigh master with Burden’s. In leisure time, he loved attending to his garden, in which he took great pride. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his Wife, Mae; Son, Lorne (Terry Lee); Daughter, Lorna (Todd Hedderson); Grandchildren, Vicki, Nolan, Ryan; Great Grandchild, Eric; Brother, Hector (Ann); Sisters, Vera Budgell, Violet Rowsell, Mamie Taylor; Nephew, Glenn (Debbie); Special nieces, Barbie, Christy, Sarah (The “girls”) as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Roy was predeceased by his parents, Garland and Sadie Bussey as well as special friends; Walters Hedderson, and Frank Reardon. Visitation was held from the Central United Church, Quirpon Branch from where the funeral was held on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Gus Pendelton officiating. Interment followed. BURDEN, TYRONE WAYNE

Passed away on June 27th, 2017 in Grand Prairie, Alberta at the age of 33 years. Tyrone was born to Wayne and Alma Burden on February 13th, 1984. He graduated high school in 2002 and moved to Ontario where his sister Vanessa lived to search for work. He returned home in 2008 but left again for Grande Prairie shortly after. Tyrone loved hanging out with his buddies and enjoyed playing hockey, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and any outdoor activities. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his parents Wayne & Alma Burden; Sisters Vanessa (Eyon Goosney), Vivian (Corwin Randell); Nephew Alex Burden; Nieces: Kerissa Burden, Keesha Goosney, Katona Goosney; Grandmother Elizabeth Richards; Uncles and Aunts Willis (Shirley) Wyatt, Nellie (Richard) Mitchelmore, Nina Hill, Ben Denney, Hedley (Faye) Richards, Harrison (Judy) Richards, Hubert (Barbara) Richards, Lester (Viona) Richards, Florence (Freeman) Richards, David (Jackie) Richards, Glenn Richards (Penny Kinsella), Wavey (Alick) Pilgrim, Judy (Randy) Wiseman, Peggy (John) Barnes, Terry Burden (Cathy May), Tommy Burden (June Offrey); and a large circle of relatives and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his Grandparents Francis and Marie Burden, Grandfather John Richards, Aunt Evelyn Denney and Uncle Albert Hill, Pap & Nan - Thomas and Dora Burden. Visitation took place at Bear Creek Funeral Home in Grand Prairie, Alberta and then continued at the Salvation Army Church in St. Anthony from where the funeral took place on July 6th, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Captain Rideout officiating.
