WHITE, STANLEY

October 15, 1953 – September 10, 2023

It is with heavy hearts the family of the late Stanley White announces his passing on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital at the age of 69 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Mona; very special and precious daughter Janet; Sisters: Joyce (Gaydon), Clara (Robert); Brother: Donald (Agnes); In-laws: Sue, Eva (Garfield), Eliza, Sarah, Barbara (Harris); and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

He was predeceased by his father: Stewart; mother: Maria Jane; Sister: Elizabeth (Charlie); brother: Clifford; in-laws: Miriam, Roland, Dora (Henry), Margaret (Nelson), Alma (Gerald), Edmund, Kirby, Roland (Ivy).

Mona and Janet are so grateful for the care and support the Dialysis Unit has given to both dad and daughter. A Special thank you to Dr. Mina, Tonya, Brooke, the intensive care unit, and the nursing staff on the ward.

Stan loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing were very much top of his list. He was very happy with his many recreational toys – of course joy-riding was his speciality. Stan was a social butterfly, loved lots of company and was always the life of the party with his great singing voice.

Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 2:00, St. Thomas’ Church, Sandy Cove with Rev. Vernon Short officiating. Followed by internment of ashes in the Anglican Cemetery in Savage Cove.

COOMBS, MARION EILEEN

July 14, 1935 — September 3, 2017

(née Way) was born in Savage Cove on July 14, 1935, to Ann Maria Way (White) of Sandy Cove and Stephen Way of Savage Cove. Marion passed away in St. John’s after a brief illness at the age of 82 years. Orphaned at a young age, Marion lived at the Grenfell Orphanage in St. Anthony, she spent her summers in Plum Point with her Aunt Ellen and Uncle Noah and is where she met her future husband Ben Coombs. Marion was known in her community for her fine singing voice and her open and warm heart. The home she made with her husband Ben was always welcoming to family, friends and strangers.  Marion was dearly loved by her family and friends. Marion is missed her loving husband of fifty-eight years Ben, and her children and their spouses: Chris and his wife Krista, Dan and his wife Carol, and Sheila and her husband Craig, and her grandchildren Benjamin, Halle, Anna, Ellen and Stephen. She was predeceased by her infant grandson (Carol and Dan), her older sisters Mary Hunt (Way) and Gladys Gontard (Way). In lieu of flowers, donations to the Church of the Advent Plum Point will be graciously accepted. Visitation was held from the Church of the Advent Anglican Church in Plum Point from where the funeral was held at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 8th with Rev. Jennifer Renouf officiating. NOBLE, DAPHNE (SIMMS)

Passed away September 19, 2016 at the age of 96 years. Daphne Noble was born to Elias and Mary Simms in St. Anthony Bight in 1920. Daphne grew up in St. Anthony Bight. On August 10, 1938 she married Eric Noble. They made their home in Great Brehat, and together they raised eleven children; nine daughters and two sons. Daphne was a quiet woman who enjoyed being a traditional homemaker. She worked with Eric making the fish, and enjoyed booking, baking, knitting, berry picking, and the gardens. She also enjoyed watching soap operas, especially Coronation Street. On Monday, September 19th she passed peacefully away. She is survived by her children, Marie (Lloyd- deceased), Drene (Basil- deceased), Violet (Absalom), Sadie (Robert – deceased), Elsie (Fred), Raymond (Lillian), Alex (Janice), Alma (son Shawn), Mabel (Hebbert), and Bessie (John- deceased). She is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, and 34 great-great-grandchildren, and her sister-in-law Bertha Noble. She was predeceased by her husband Eric, infant daughter Sadie, five brothers, and four sisters. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre’s funeral home in St. Anthony with the family service taking place at the St. Anthony United Church from where the funeral service was held on September 22, 2016 with Rev. Dinesh Gomes and Rev. John McGonigle officiating. Interment followed. Funeral services entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger funeral director.
