MITCHELMORE, RHODA (Nee Dredge)

December 6th, 1931 – March 7th, 2023

It is with great sadness the family of the late Rhoda Mitchelmore announce her peaceful passing at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony. She was 91 years.

Rhoda was born on December 6th, 1931, to William and Edna Dredge of Black Duck Cove. She was the second eldest of six children. She married Clyde Mitchelmore of Green Island Cove in 1952 where they would start their family and raise eight children: Rosalie, Linda, Kevin, Jessie, Iris, Clyde, Willie, and Judy. She was blessed with fifteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild whom she loved and adored.

Rhoda especially loved visits from her family and special friends. She was very active, as she loved spending time in her gardens, attending to flowers, putting together crafts, quilts, and puzzles, watching gameshows, curling, and cheering on her hockey team, the Montreal Canadians.

She leaves to mourn Rosalie (Emanual), Linda (Elwin), Kevin (Connie), Jessie, Iris (Dan), Willie (Edna), Judy (Chauncey) and Daughter-in-law Katrina. Grandchildren Darryl (Valerie), Nina (Sheldon), Terri (Philip), Gaye (John), Danny (Stephanie), Genna (Ryan), Christopher, Lane (Rena), Tristan ( Sarah ), Sean (Alyssa), Jordan (Leslie), Chase and Connor. Great-grandchildren Keisha (TJ), Logan, April (Kerry), Alexis, Porsha, Jayden, Dalton, Skye (Jeffrey), Slayde, Austin, Bryanna (Joshua), Noah, Luke, Aleyah (Kayla), Alissa, Jake, Jayme, Bella, Tori, Jackson, and James. Great-great grandchild Kyler. Sisters Ima, Jessie (Jim), Marion, sister-in-law Christina. Her homecare workers Isabella and Colleen, along with a large circle of family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Clyde, parents William and Edna Dredge, in-laws William and Ruth Mitchelmore, her son Clyde Mitchelmore Jr., grand daughters Tammy Genge and Marly Genge, son-in-law Harris Genge, granddaughter-in-law Carla Rose, sister Nina Toope, brother Lorenzo Dredge, brothers-in-law Jacob Toope, Lorenzo Taylor, and Wallace Dredge.

Visitation will take place at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Lower Cove, NL with Family Service taking place on Friday, March 10th at 7pm from where the funeral service will also be held on Saturday, March 11th at 11am with Rev. Canon Vernon Short. Intermittent to follow at the Anglican Cemetery in Green Island Cove. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony, NL.

MITCHELMORE, RHODA SUSAN

Is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Rhoda Susan Mitchelmore on December 28th, 2020.  She passes at home with her husband by her side. . Born July 23rd 1936 to Amy and Jim McLean. She was the eldest of 7 kids. She is predeceased by her son Dean and mom and Dad Amy and Jim, sisters Millicent and Maisie. Mother and father in law Tom and Mamie Ellen.  Brother in laws. Mainland and Harvey. She is survived by her husband of 61 years Graydon Mitchelmore. Son Jasper, daughters Jill and May.  Grandchildren Graydon (Tammy),  Deanie, Michael, Tammy. Great grandchildren Darrius and Marcus.  Sister. Mamie Ellen, brothers John Thomas (Winnie), Vincent (Jessie) and Marcel (Eura). Sister in laws Bertha, Velma (Wally), Myrtle (Ren). She will be missed by many of her furry grandkids, Posie will especially miss his Nans’s cuddles. Rhoda Susan was devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She was a kind hearted person who had many friends and loved by all who knew her. She was an amazing cook and baker. She loved sharing what she made with family and friends or just people she met.  You would never go to her home and leave hungry.  She enjoyed a good game of cards and knitting, she knit socks for many family and friends as well as the homeless and kids at Janeway.   If there was anyone in need she was there to help.

PARSONS, RHODA HAZEL (nee Cull)

March 1, 1935 - October 21, 2019

Rhoda Hazel Parsons was born March 1, 1935. To everyone who knew her she was Hazel, to those who held her closest to their hearts she was simply "Mom". Mom's hands were always busy. A lifetime of love and labour were etched into every sinew. They nurtured a family of four and diligently cared for a husband. Mom worked like a Trojan every day, cooked, cleaned, scrubbed, shined and fed whosoever will at her small kitchen table. A creative women by nature, she spent many hours sewing and knitting. She was famous for her quilts, including "the" Christmas Quilt, for which she created her own patterns. Her passion for knitting ensured that many in St. Anthony and beyond had toasty warm hands and feet. Mom was a women with a strong faith, firmly believing the Lord would provide her every need in His time and purpose. Disease may have weakened Mom's physical body but her mind and spirit remained strong and solid. She kept her faith in the One that would see her to her journey's end. On October 21, 2019 at approximately 9:45 am her busy hands became still. Her earthly toil complete "Mom" had entered her eternal rest. Mom will be forever cherished by her children, Phyllis (Ivan), Gail (Mit), Wallace (Maxine), and Penny. Her grandchildren, Sandra, Danielle, Cody, and Jonathan, as well as very special friend Ena Roberts. Hazel was predeceased by her husband Freeman Parsons. Her parents Hayward and Leah Cull. Her brother Augustus and sister Marie. Her in-laws Robert and Beulah, Jehu, Dulcie, and Alfred. Her niece Donna. The funeral service will be held at the Bethel Pentecostal Church in St. Anthony, at 2 pm on Saturday October 26, 2019 with Pastor Jeff Elliott officiating. Visitation will on Thursday October 24th, 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm and Friday October 25th, 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Flowers are greatly appreciated, for those wishing to make a donation in Mom's memory, please do so to the Palliative Care Unit Western Memorial Hospital Corner Brook.

FILLIER, RHODA

September 11, 1930 – August 27, 2019

Rhoda passed away on Aug. 27, 2019 at John M. Gray Nursing home in St. Anthony. Rhoda Fillier was born in Williamsport, NL on Sept. 11, 1930 to Harry & Faith (Canning) Randell. On April. 13. 1949 she married Hubert Fillier of Englee. To complete the family, six children were born: Hardy, Leamond, Harold, Joan, Edwin & Varrick. They later accepted a foster son (Howard Fillier) into their home for five years. Rhoda worked hard to provide and care for her family. For several years, she was employed at the local fish plant. She also loved the great outdoors and along with her friend Eileen, spent much time rabbit catching, trouting and berry picking. In later years, she enjoyed travelling out of town to visit her relatives. She also loved her evening drives around the area with her friend, Fannie. Left to mourn her passing are her daughter: Joan Randell (George), sons: Edwin (Lily) and Varrick (Pansy); foster son: Howard (Evelyn); daughters-in-law: Patsy & Mary, stepsister: Edith Newman (John), grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many other relatives & friends. She is predeceased by husband: Hubert, sons: Hardy, Leamond & Harold. Visitation was held from the Salvation Army Church in Englee with Majors Wilfred and Wavey Simms officiating on August 30, 2019 at 11:00 am. Interment followed. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Alicia Patey Funeral Director.
