HEDDERSON, VELMA

June 24, 1940 - January 12, 2025
Passed away into peace on the 12th of January, 2025 Mrs. Velma Hedderson of Hay Cove in her 84th Year.

Velma was born in Hay Cove on June 24th 1940, to Dorman and Blanche Eddison. On January 12, 1959, she married the love of her life Vallance Hedderson. Together they raised three children: Dennis, Kettie, Audrey and grandson Tyler

Kittie (Dave), Dennis (Marie), Audrey (Scott), Grandsons Tyler (Candace), Damien (Carolyn), Granddaughter: Mandy (Houston), Great Grandchildren: Jake, Luke, Logan and Sunnie, Special Friend Delina Anderson and a large circle of family and friends.
Velma adored her family and friends with her whole heart!
Visitation is being held at the Central United Church at Quirpon Branch, January 14th, 2025, and continuing through to the Funeral Service at 2pm on Wednesday January 15th, 2025 with Rev. Mark Willkoff officiating. Cremation will follow the service with burial at a later date.

EDDISON, PLEMAN

Passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 16th day of August 2015, Mr. Pleman Hedderson of Noddy Bay was in his 87th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 61 years Marion, children Janice (Alex), Barbara (Hubert), Lester (Vi), Art (Janet), Lucinda (Elijah), Wade, Edith (Dexter), Colin (Petrina), Seventeen Grandchildren, Twenty Great Grandchildren, Two Sisters Fanny and Annie. HE was predeceased by his son Truman Eddison, Parents Reuben and Lucinda Eddison, Brother’s Stewart, Aquilla, William, and Sisters Catherine, Dulcie and Emma. Visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Dark Tickle from which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on the 20th day August 2015 with Rev. Mark Wilkoff officiating. ALLINGHAM, BASIL

Passed away Peacefully at The John M. Gray Center on the 24th of May in his 85th year, Mr. Basil John Allingham of St. Anthony.  left to mourn his loss are his loving wife Irene, Daughters Dale (Lary), Corrine (Nelson), Cavell (Ross), Sons Don (Sandra), Ron (Gaylene), Pleman (Darlene), Grandchildren Rhonda, Roxanne, Teraceta, Tyrone, Tyler, Jordan, Rosalind, Mitchell, Gavin, Kayla, Latisha, Laura, Brenden, Keegan, and Jaimee. Great Grandchildren Kaidence, Lukas, Nickolas, Lillie, Riley, Rodney, Mikayla, Morgan, Shianne, Logan, Hailegh, Mason Zachary, Isiah and Madison. Sisters Laverne, Triffie, June, Alma and Grace, Brothers Llew, Stedman, Horace and Edgar as well as many nieces, Nephews and Friends and special friend Val Parrill. Basil was predeceased by his parents William and Gladys, Son Keith, Brothers Rex and Tom, Sisters Olive and Drucilla. Visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Cooks Harbour, form which the Funeral service took place at 2:00pm on the 28th of may, 2015 with Rev. Mark Willkof officiating.  Burial followed in the Cooks Harbour Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements where entrusted to Kerry M. WOODWARD, EVANGELINE

Passed away peacefully at the John M. Gray Center on the 4th of October, 2014, Mrs. Evangeline Woodward of Boat Harbour, in her 64th year. Evangeline leaves behind with loving memories her Daughter Roxanne (George), granddaughter Hanna, Brothers and sisters Harrison (Late Winnie), George (Stella), Bessie (Enos), Ethel (Larry), Gladys (Tony), Elenor (Late Clarence) and Jean (Gordon). Evangeline was predeceased by her father Eldred, her Mother Muriel and her brother Nelson. Visitation took place at the Anglican Church in Boat Harbour, From Which the Funeral Service Took Place at 2:00pm on the 7th of October with Rev. Mark Wilkoff Officiating. Burial followed the service in the Anglican cemetery in Boat Harbour. Funeral Arrangements where entrusted to Kerry M. ELLIOTT, GARLAND

Passed away into Peace on the 5th day of October 2014 at Shirley's Haven personal care home in St. Anthony in his  90th year, Mr. Garland Elliott of Cooks Harbour. Garland leaves behind his brothers Ramond, Leonard (Elsie), and Hayward (Lillian), his sister Lottie as well as nephews, nieces, and a large circle of family and friends. garland was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Effie Elliott, brothers James, John, and Walter. Visitation was held at The Anglican Church in Cook's Harbour, from which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on the 8th of October with Rev. Mark Wilkoff Officiating. HILLIER, MINNIE ERMA


Minnie Erma Hillier was born Nov. 24, 1916 to Thomas and Sarah Ann(Pynn) Pilgrim. Minnie shared her younger years with five other siblings Ralph, Leonard, Ambrose, James, Gladys, and Winnie. Minnie married her first love William Quinton and together they had five children Scott, Hope Wilson, Joy and Bill. After Williams passing, Minnie soon found the second love of her life Llewellyn Hillier. Minnie and Llewellyn married Oct. 10, 1947 and together were blessed with eight children, Lindy, Wavey, Glenda, Wally, Don, Ernest, Elvis, and Pam. They enjoyed their life together and surrounded by all there children. The joy of Minnie’s life was being able to watch her children grow into wonderful adults. Minnie lost Llewellyn the love she shared for forty-five years on December 26th, 1992. Minnie was a hard worker and although it was difficult at times raising thirteen children she made the most of it all, but she also found time to give to her community in many ways. She had talents and with raising thirteen children she learned how to become a wonderful seamstress and cook. Among many other things she was a business lady and was self employed for years. Minnie was a big supporter of her church and carried her banner with honour. She filled the rolls of acting sergeant major, solist and Sunday school teacher and also the Y.P.S.M. She was the very first one to be dedicated in the Griquet Corps , Minnie was always a dedicated church member and will be missed and remembered by her family, relatives and friends. Minnie peacefully away at the John M. Gray Center on the 13th of June 2014 at the age of 97 years. Minnie Erma Hillier of Griquet leaves to mourn her loving children Hope(Keith), Scott(Nellie), Wilson(Evelyn), Joy(Marvin), Bill, Wavey(Ronald), Glenda(Norman), Wally(Herman), Don(Evelyn), Ernest(Kenny), Elvis(Ellen), and Pam(Asner), a large circle of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great Great Grandchildren, as well  as a large circle of friends. She was predeceased by her first husband William Quinton and second husband Llewellyn Hillier, Son Lindy HIlier, Grandson Jim Hillier, Granddaughter Melanie Fields. Visitation was at the funeral home on June 14th 2014 and continued on at the Anglican church in Dark Tickle on June 15th 2014 from which the funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on the 16th day of June 2014 with Major Dinzel Baggs and Rev. Mark Wilkoff officiating. Burial will follow in the Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. WOODWARD, BLANCHE

Passed peacefully away at the John M. Gray Centre on May 24, 2014. Mrs. Blanche Woodward of Boat Harbour, in her 96th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughter Una (Gerald); sons Enos (Bessie) and Clyde (Patty); daughter-in-law Rowena; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Nathaniel, daughter Rowena, son Gerald, her parents Henry and Susan and a number of brother and sisters. Visitation was held at the St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Boat Harbour from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27 with Rev. Mark O. Wilkoff officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery in Boat Harbour. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

SAUNDERS, GARFIELD ROY

Roy Saunders was born on January 12,1948 to George and Clara Saunders. He had  5 brothers,2 sisters and 6 half sisters. On November 3,1967 he married Priscilla Hedderson, together they had 2 children, Rowena and Jason. He had 4 grandchildren, Jillian, Joshua, Nickolas and Lillie and 1 great grandchild Chloe. He fished in the long liner for a few years before going to Goose Bay for work. Only there for a couple years before coming back  to Cook's Harbour to do what he loved most.... fishing !Roy loved to set potatoes in the summer and he mostly enjoyed digging them in the fall when he could get the chance to cook up a feed of fish ,potatoes and scrunchions and  then to end his meal with a good cup of tea and  a cigarette. His grandchildren were his pride and joy! He loved to watch them play and hear their stories. If he could get them up to something that they shouldn't be at he would. He loved every minute he spent with them. In the last 8 years as a quadriplegic, he spent time at Curtis Hospital and the John M Gray center in St.Anthony. To him the staff were like an extended family. Roy had lots of patience. He never complained about anything, even after he got sick. He loved and adored his kids, grand kids and all his family . He especially adored his loving Wife of 45 years. Roy passed away peacefully at the John M Gray Centre with his family around him on May 22,2014. Left to Mourn: His Loving Wife Priscilla, Daughter Rowena(Christopher),and Son Jason(Roxanne). Grandchildren Jillian, Joshua(Kimberley),Nickolas and Lillie and Great Grandchild Chloe. Brothers San(Eliza),Edgar(Sheila),Melvin(Clara) & Fred(Elsie). Sisters Joyce Cornick & Velma(Morris) Boyd. Half Sister Dorcas and sister in law Marilyn. Predeceased By his Parents George & Clara, Brother Havner, Half Sisters Bessie, Helen, Rebecca, Keziah and Vera. visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Cooks Harbour, from which the funeral service took place at 2:00pm on Monday May 26th  with rev. RICHARDS, KEZIAH

Keziah Richards (Nee Saunders) was born Nov. 12, 1924, in Cook's Harbour, NL to George and Diane (Allingham) Saunders. She Was the Third oldest of Six sisters at the age of 12, her mother died. she left Cook's Harbour to live with Clem and Rebecca Richards in St. Carol's, on February 24th 1942, she married Frederick Richards and together they raised five Children and one Grand Child. on April 30th, 2014, Keziah Passed away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on The 30th of April, 2014, she leaves to mourn her husband of 72 years, Frederick, Sons Roy (Chris), Gordon (Margaret), Daughters Shirley (Willis), Faye (Hedley), Judy (Harrison), 17 grand children, 27 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. her sister Elizabeth Dorcas, Half Brothers Fred (Elsie), San (Eliza), Roy (Priscilla), Melvin (Carol), Edgar (Sheila), Half Sisters Joyce, Velma (Morris), and a large number of relatives and friends.  she was predeceased by her parents George and Diane Saunders, Sisters Bessie, Helen, Rebecca and Vera, Half Brother Havner, and her step mother Clara. Visitation was held at St. Paul's Anglican Church in St. Carols, From Which The Funeral Service was held at 2:30pm on Sunday May 4th 4, 2014 with Rev. Mark Wilkoff officiating. Burial Followed in the St. Carols Anglican Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton. Siobhan Mauger Funeral Director.
