Clifford was born in Great Brehat on May 7, 1955 to Victor and Bertha Noble. He fished all his life from small boats to off shore trawlers, until 2018, when he took ill and had to finish with the fishery. He battles with cancer until his death on August 14, 2021, at the age of 66 years, surrounded by his family.
He leaves to mourn, his partner of 39 years, Judy Patey; 5 brothers and 4 sisters, Rtia (Bob), Marion, Don (Donna), Reub (Ruby), David (Shelly), Gladys (Loren), Rick (Loretta), Sheila (Rick), Terry (Ann); Sisters-in-law, Betty (Roy), Jean (Gordon), Gloria (Kevin); his buddies on the MV Atlantic Enterprise, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Clifford is predeceased by his parents, Bertha and Victor Noble; his infant brothers and his father and mother in law, Nina and Samuel Patey. Cremation has taken place, the funeral will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 2:00 pm from the St. Anthony United Church with Rev, John Maich officiating (Tentative). ROBERTS, MELVIN HAROLD
Melvin was born October 19, 1945 and he went home to be with the Lord August 10, 2020. Left to mourn: wife Irene, for almost 50 years; Oct. 2020, son Bradley (Trina), Son Trent (Paula) and daughter Jennifer (Andy Hoddnott). Also five grandchildren: Brandon (Holly), Latesha, Makayla, Jada, Hannah and Kennedy, a great grandson Michael and a step great granddaughter Sierra. Sister Ella Burton (Carl), sister Nellie Jennings (Les), sister Rita Colbourne and sister Debbie Squires (Ray). Brother in-law Max Short (Ethel), brother in-law Jim Short (Ena) and sister in-law Josie Powell. As well as a large circle of family and friends. Predeceased by parents Fred and Pearl Roberts, sister Ruby and brother Willie. Since his first stroke on December 8, 2014, Melv has been very actively enjoying life; he was a walking miracle. Because he had no drivers license, he loved his bike more than ever. If Mel wasn’t walking he was out and about on his bike. In the woods was top priority for Melv. He couldn’t understand anyone who didn’t enjoy being in the woods. Fishing, well that was next in line and then it was the garden. Melv couldn’t wait to set the potatoes, split a fish, pick some berries, especially partridge berries, and he always loved meeting with friends for his morning chat or to share a cup of tea and a lunch. He was a very kind and loving brother, husband, father, poppy and friend who will be missed tremendously. a private visitation will proceed the funeral, which will take place at 3pm on the 14th of august, 2020 at the United Church ship cove with Rev. TUCKER, SILBY JAMES
Passed away August 13, 2019, at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony, Newfoundland. Silby James TUCKER in his 92rd year. He leaves to mourn with fond memories his wife of seventy five years, Delilah, their children: Eliza (Winston), Louise (Lester), Shelia (Roy), and Patricia (Jack), Robert (Jean), Ricky (Rose), Leonard, and Harvey (Dale). Grand Children, Great Grand Children and Great-Great Grand Children. Silby was born and raised in Ship Cove, Newfoundland, where at the age of 12 he joined his dad in the fishing boat, life was not easy in those years, but thru hard work and determination, he provided and saw the family thru the hard times. It was in the early ‘60s that the scourge of TB visited our family and resulted in Sibly being hospitalized for 6 months, followed by 2 years of treatment and recovery. It was not long after, that he was back fishing, hunting, doing the things he loved. Following the decline of the fishery, he found work elsewhere, in the labour fields, wherever he could. As a hunter, and provider, there was none better, we seemed to be never in want of something on the table for Sunday dinners. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Kenneth and Elizabeth Tucker, siblings half-sister Verdie (Tom) and half-brother Roderick, brothers, Wilson (Jessie), Valen (Daisy) and Wilfred (Mabel) sister Mariam (Newton Morgan), and daughter-in-law Mary (Leonard) also children Olive, Gordon, Betty and Baby Boy, Grandchildren; Whyman Colbourne, Robert Colbourne (Diane), Jeremy Patey and Great Grand Child Christopher Simms. Visitation was held from Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home, West St. St. Anthony. The funeral service was held from the Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home, West St. St. Anthony on 2:00 pm Friday, Aug 16, 2019. After cremation, interment arrangements are to be held at a later date at United Church Cemetery, Ship Cove. WARD, GEORGE ERNEST
Passed away suddenly, but peacefully, on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Health Science Centre, St. John’s, NL at the age of 86 years– George Ernest Ward of St. Anthony, NL. He is now re-united with his loving wife Caroline (April 18, 2004). Left with cherished memories are his daughters Leona (Pat McGuire) Paradise, NL and Sharon (Paul Gosse) Torbay, NL.; granddaughters Denee Stokes, Fort MacMurray, AB and Jillian McGuire, Paradise; great-granddaughters Mackenzie, Raisa and Jamie Stokes, Fort MacMurray, AB; sisters, Marie Blake, Doris Calloway (Wilson), Jessie Ward and Ella Michelin; sisters in law Ethel Ward, Sara Winsor (John), Violet Richards, Naomi Colbourne, brother in law Heber Colbourne (Thelma); family friend, Anna Gosse and many nieces, nephews, cousins and valued friends. He was also predeceased by hisWife Caroline, parents Alice and Henry Ward, Brother Wallace and Sister Mary Lyall. In addition to being caring and dedicated to his family, he was a faithful, life-long member of the Loyal Orange Lodge 126 and Royal Black Preceptor 1048. He also loved fishing, berry picking and spending time at his cabin. Visitation was held from Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony on Friday, June 23, 2017 and Saturday, June 24, 2017 until the funeral on Sunday June 25, 2017 from the St. Anthony United Church with Rev. John Maich officiating.
