REID, MIRIAM (Nee Canning)

September 16. 1926 - January 4, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother, Sister and Aunt - Miriam Reid (nee: Canning) at the John M Gray in St. Anthony NL at the age of 95 years. She leaves to mourn, her Daughters, Marilyn (Late Wesley Keefe), Margaret (Late Harvey Randell), Priscilla (Naaman), Jane, (Woodly), Joan (Winston) and special Sons; Wade (Maisie), Graham (Ruby), Booth (Olive), Sherlock (Nina), Morris (Carmel) and David (Gladys); Brothers, Eric (Gladys), Obediah (Hilda); Sisters, Emma, Fern (David) Joan (Hayward) and Sister In Law Nina as well as friends and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and other family and friends.

She is predeceased by her parents (Obediah and Leah), Husband (Booth), Son (Raymond), Brother (Hayward), Sister (Isabelle), Son-In-Laws (Rifford Cassell, Harvey Randell and Wesley Keefe)

ADAMS, GEORGE LLOYD

April 21, 1935 - December 3, 2021

George was born on April 21st, 1935 to Edith and Kenneth Adams of Griquet. He met the love of his life Dorothy Burden from St. Lunaire on August 23rd, 1957. Together they raised 6 children, 5 Daughters & 1 Son. He enjoyed fishing, Salmon fishing, going in the woods to cut his winters firewood, moose hunting, & spending time with Family and friends. He was a very hard worker at anything he did to provide for his Family that he loved and cherished. He loved to have fun, and cherished the times he got to spend with his Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, & Great great grandchildren they were his pride and joy. He loved everyone and wanted them to stay the night. He was a real sweetheart, and loved by all that met him. He was very faithful to his church, loved attending anything and everything to do with church. Even attending when he was to sick to go, but most of all he was devoted to his Lord and Saviour, who he praised to the end.

George leaves to mourn his daughters; Gwen (Scott) Patey, Jane (Paul) Tulk, Lona (Edward) Hedderson, Gertrude (Wade) Decker, & SueAnn Normore; Son, Harrison Adams (Triffie Patey); Sister, Shirley (Valance) Pilgrim; Grandchildren, Rhonda, Michelle (Danny), Leroy (Kasandra), Amanda (Stewart), Gavin (Leanne), Dayna, Amy (Dino), Craig (Jena), Ian (Tiffany), & Joshua (Samantha); Great Grandchildren, Quynn, Lainey, Ella, Alannah, Jasmine, Tanya, Brooke, Chloe, Ethan, Emma, Addison, Liam, Aiden, Austin & Alex; Great Great Grandchildren, Emerson, Paisley, & Carson. George will also be greatly missed by a large circle of Relatives, Friends, church family, & Special neighbors Aunt Flo, Eileen, & Bruce.

George was Pre-deceased by his Wife, Dorothy Adams; Parents, Edith & Kenneth Adams; Sisters, Nellie Hillier, & Goldie Peyton; Brothers, Harold, William, Melvin & Wilson; and Son in Law, Moody Normore.

Visitation to be from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm on Sunday, December 5, 2021 from the Pentecostal Tabernacle in St. Lunaire-Griquet where the funeral will continue at 2:00 pm with Pastor Harnum officiating. PARR, EDWARD CLARENCE

June 6, 1960 - August 27, 2021

Edward was born in Mary’s Harbour, Labrador to Myrtle and Robert Parr of Port Hope Simpson, Labrador on June 6th, 1960. As a young man he grew up in the fishing boat. He met the love of his life, Daphne Andrews, and they married on January 27, 1984. Together, they raised two daughters, Dana and Erica. Edward was a Jack-of-all-trades; he worked at St. Anthony Seafoods, as a carpenter building houses, he worked in construction, he worked at Hillier’s Esso, and as a Janitor/Bus Driver at Bayview Collegiate and White Hills Academy. He was a quiet man loved by everyone.
He leaves to mourn, his Wife, Daphne of 37 years; Daughters, Dana (Scott House), Erica (Toby Penney); Granddaughters, LoraLee Penney and Keira House, who were his pride and joy; Sisters, Zonya (Graham Hillier), Marilyn (Lemuel Penney), Jeanette (Barry Boyd), Irene (Peter Kippenhuek); Brothers, Hayward (Mildred), Donald (Roseann), Kevin (Wavey), Stephen (Sherry), as well as a large circle of family and friends.
He is predeceased by his Dad, Robert Parr (February 1, 2008) and his Mom, Myrtle Parr (May 17, 2021).
Visitation will take place from the Pentecostal Tabernacle in St. Lunaire-Griquet, NL on Sunday, August 29, 2021 from 7-9pm and on Monday, August 30, 2021 from 10am-12pm. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday with Pastor Harnum officiating. Interment to follow.

BESSEY, ROLAND HARVEY

August 4, 1944 - January 23, 2020

Roland passed away January 23, 2020 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 75 years. Roland Leaves to mourn his Brother, Ernest Bessey; Sisters, Joyce Smith, Hazel (Garland) Andrews, Elaine (Gary) Hollohan, as well, he will be missed greatly by other relatives and friends. Roland was predeceased by his parents, Reginald and Greta Bessey. Visitation was held from the Pentecostal Church in Ship Cove from where the funeral was held on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Bill Harnum officiating. Interment followed. EARLE, EVERETT RONALD

February 17th, 1930 – July 1st, 2019

Everett married Lucy Compton on January 3, 1952, together they raised 6 children. Everett began working for Ford Elms at the young age of 16. He continued to work with Stephen and Gwen Knudsen after Ford retired. He did maintenance and repairs around the store and other properties, along with loading and unloading fish, truck driving, picking up building supplies in Corner Brook, delivering seal pelts to Dildo. Even driving the snowmobile in the winter taking Police, nurses and doctors to the surrounding communities. He continued to work there until his stroke in 1987. He worked hard to provide for his family. He also liked to build things, from houses to furniture and even a few boats. Even though he worked a lot, he found time for his family, taking the kids ice fishing, trout fishing, boil ups and cooking fishermen's brews over the open fire and even Sunday afternoon drives. Sunday mornings he would go to church, taking the kids with him, while Lucy would stay home and cook dinner. He would take the kids back for Sunday School and when picking them up after, all the kids that could would get in the back of the truck for a ride home, (he had one of the first trucks in the community). After his stroke, with the love and encouragement of his wife, Lucy, he continued to build things, toys, furniture and models for his grandchildren and do some maintenance around the house. He also loved his puzzles, putting together more than a hundred over the last few years. He also like to ride his stationary bike, wearing out two. He was a quiet and patient man who never complained. He will be remembered in love, and missed by his family. Everett leaves to mourn his Wife, Lucy Earle; Sons, Boyce (Judy), Wayne (Marilyn). Todd (Sandra); Daughters, Jean (Renato), Joyce (Len), Coleen (Wade); Brother, Hector (Jean); Brother-in-laws, Harvey (Lizzie), Ralph (Evelyn); Sister-in-laws, Velma Earle, Beatrice Compton; as well as 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and close friends. Everett was predeceased by his parents, Heman and Edith Earle; Brothers, Thomas, George, Douglas, Cecil; Sisters, Lucy, Annie, Stella. Visitation was held from the Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in St. Lunaire-Griquet on July 4th, 2019 with Pastor Bill Harnum officiating. Interment followed. EARLE, FRANK SPENCER

April 19, 1939 – November 13, 2018

Passed away on November 13th, 2018 from Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 79 years. Frank Spencer Earle was born on April 18th, 1939 to Alice and William Earle. He was the baby of the family and loved by all. On March 6, 1962 he married Mary Saunders who was the love of his life and his constant companion. Together they raised six children. He was proud to build his own home and provide for his family in employment such as Bus Driver, Construction Workers, Hydro Diesel Operator, and Maintenance Equipment Operator for the town of St. Lunaire-Griquet. Above all else his favourite career was fishing with his sons. Frank was a man of honesty and integrity who loved chatting and having a laugh. His greatest joy was spending time having a meal with his family, especially when it included his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Frank was a man of faith who loved and served the Lord and who left a Christian heritage for his family to follow. Frank leaves to mourn with a lifetime of memories, his Wife, Mary Earle; Sons, Danny (Linda), Junior (Maxine), Scott (Lori); Daughters, Loni (Keon), Faye (Mark), Diane (Robert); Sisters, Marsha Pilgrim, Rita Saunders, Joyce Patey; 13 Grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a large number of other relatives and friends. Frank was predeceased by his Parents, Alice and William Earle; Granddaughter Charli; Brothers, Charles, Harvey, Augustus; Sisters, Martha, Agnes, and Blanche. Visitation was held from the Pentecostal Faith Tabernacle in St. Lunaire-Griquet from where the funeral was held on Friday, November 16th, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Bill Harnum officiating. HUMBY, MARY LAVENIA

October 19, 1935 - November 7, 2018

On November 7th, 2018, Lavenia Humby (Levie) passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she loved and served. She was committed to her faith, loved God and his word, and attended church regularly. Levie was born in Griquet Newfoundland, where she married Henry Humby and raised her family. Levy is remembered as a soft-spoken, kind-hearted person. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Levie leaves to mourn her sons Raymond (Bessie), Robert (Gina), Michael (Sheila), Daughters Blanche and Pearl, as well as 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and close friends. Levie was predeceased by her parents John and Rhoda Pilgrim, husband Henry George Humby, son Lawrence Humby, grandson Jim Hillier, brothers George, Chesley, Gordon and Allen as well as sisters Pearl, Rita, Ruby, Olive and Lucy. The homegoing service was held at 2 p.m. on November 11th, 2018 from the Calvary Tabernacle in Griquet Newfoundland with Pastor Bill Harnum officiating. Burial took place in the Church cemetery following the service. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton. Lee Nippard, funeral director.
