KENNEDY, ISABEL JOSEPHINE

Passed away October 1, 2018 from the John M. Gray Center in St. Anthony at the age of 81 years. She leaves to mourn with a lifetime of fond memories, her Brother Michael Mahar; Children, Jessie Gould (Pius), Rosalie Pittman (John), Mark Kennedy (Diana), Agnes Caines (Romeo), Lyman Kennedy (Marie), John Kennedy (Audrey), Howard Kennedy (Donna), Robert Kennedy (Kerri); Grandchildren, Merle Pittman (Sharon), Sheldon Gould (Dale), Ayeshea Pittman (Stacy), Enis Caines (Andrea), Melissa Chambers (Maurice), Ranil Kennedy (Felicia), Deanna Myers (Andre), Paul Kennedy (Breanna), Andy Kennedy (Katie), Wade Kennedy (Hilary), Kendra Kennedy (Liam), Robyn Kennedy, Adam Kennedy; Greatgrandchildren, Zackary Gould, Lauren Pittman, Brody Pittman, Ella Caines, Sadie Kennedy, Michael Myers, Brooke Kennedy, Aliana Gould, Blair Kennedy, Marcus Kennedy, Evan Kennedy, Kyle Kennedy, Milan Myers; Sister-in-law, Imelda Mahar; Brothers-in-law, Aloysius Kennedy, Pat Kennedy, Chris Kennedy, Jake Toope, as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Isabella was predeceased by her parents, Catherine and Michael Mahar; Husband, Mark; Daughter, Lorie; Son, Dale; Sisters, Evangeline Caines, Catherine Mahar, Agnes Kennedy; Brother, Christopher Mahar; Sisters-in-law, Betty Mahar, Mary Mahar, Neila Mahar; Brothers-in-law, Luke (Evangeline), John (Agnes), Wes Kennedy Jr., and Dorman Kennedy. Visitation was held from Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church in Bird Cove from where the funeral was held on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Fr. Rossi officiating. Interment followed. KENNEDY, JOHN

Passed away August 7th, 2018 at the age of 89 years. John Kennedy was born in Flowers Cove, NL on February 25th, 1929. John was the son of Uncle Mike (Nicholas) and Mary Ann Kennedy (Young). John (Jack as he was lovingly known) was placed in the Grenfell Orphanage in St. Anthony at the age of 7 years old where he was raised and educated until he was 17 years of age. Upon leaving the Orphanage he travelled by dog sled team to Main Brook where he was employed by Bowaters as a Cookee initially but was later hired as a lumberjack. He moved to Roddickton where he continued his career as a woodsman. Uncle Mike, John’s father was residing in Roddickton at that time and was operating a general store. Shortly after moving to Roddickton he met the love of his life Meta Cassell. They were married February 28th, 1952. He set up his own business John Kennedy & Sons for which he was the owner & operator for 30 years. Together with his loving wife they raised a family of 8 children.  After closing his business John & Meta moved to Ontario where he worked in the logging industry for ten years. Upon retiring they moved back to Roddickton where they lived a very contented, loving and happy life together until the morning of August 7th, 2018. John loved and served the Lord for the majority of his life. He had an ear for music and sang and played the violin as part of the Apostolic Faith Mission in Roddickton for many years. He had a heart for others and everyone he met was a friend. He opened his home and his heart to everyone. He judged no one and lived only to serve others. When you saw him, he would greet you with his smile and a wave of his hand. John was a brilliant man with an avid love of reading. He was a hard-working man who loved his family dearly. John passed peacefully away into the presence of the Lord with his wife and some members of his large family by his side. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Meta and 7 of their children. 24 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.  He leaves behind a legacy of music, faith, love and hope. He is predeceased by his parents, his daughter Marjorie and great-grandson Nicholas. Visitation was held from he Apostolic Faith Church in Roddickton from where the funeral was held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Chris Hewlett officiating. Interment followed. KENNEDY, DALE GERARD

passed away July 28th, 2017 at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 60 years. Dale was born to Mark and Isabel Kennedy of Bird Cove on May 7th, 1957. At a very young age he started writing sons and playing music which he continued to do until his illness came upon him- this was his passion in life. He had many talents and was very knowledgeable. He was a gifted musician and loved jamming with his buddies on the weekends. Throughout the years he spend endless hours working on the history of his community and he co-founded the Bird Cove-Plum Point Archaeology project. For his outstanding community efforts and Archaeology work he was given the James Pendegrast Award; the highest achievement an avocational archaeologist can receive in Canada. He had a countless number of friends and was well liked by all that knew him. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his mother Isabel; Sisters Jessie (Pius) Gould, Rosalie (John) Pittman, Agnes (Romeo) Caines; Brothers Mark (Diana), Lyman (Marie), John (Audrey), Howard (Donna), Robert (Kerri), Nephews Merle (Sharon) Pittman, Sheldon (Dale) Gould, Enis (Andrea) Caines, Ranil (Felicia) Kennedy, Andy (Katie) Kennedy, Paul (Brianna) Kennedy, Wade (Hilary) Kennedy, Adam Kennedy; Nieces Ayeshea (Stacy) Pittman, Melissa (Maurice) Chambers, Deanna (Andre) Myers, Kendra Kennedy, Robyn Kennedy; Great Nieces and Nephews Lauren Pittman, Zackary Gould, Alaina Gould, Ella Caines, Sadie Conway, Brooke Kennedy, Markus Kennedy, Blair Kennedy, Evan Kennedy, Kyle Kennedy, Brody Pittman, Michael Myers, Milan Myers as well as a large circle of relatives and friends.
