WAY, IVY

February 28, 1955 - August 27, 2023

Ivy passed away August 27, 2023 at the age of 68 years.

She was a hardworking woman who loved her family dearly. She is loved and missed beyond measure.

Ivy leaves to mourn with a lifetime of memories, her husband of 42 years, Stewart Way; Daughter: Tana Way; Grandson/Son: Jaden Way; Grandsons: Jagger Coles, Jaxon Coles; Brother: Kirby (Marion); Sister: Phoebe (the late Baxter Hughes), as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.

She is predeceased by her Son: Darryl Way; Parents: George and Una Coates; Brothers: Ross, Stan, and Winston; Sister: Hazareth.

Visitation to take place from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Lower Cove beginning the afternoon of Friday, September 1, 2023, with the family service to take place at 7:30 PM. The Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 2, 2023 with Rev. Vernon Short officiating. Interment to follow.

COLES, IVY

It is with great sadness the family of Ivy Coles announce her passing at Flowers Cove on March 17-2023.

Ivy has joined her loving husband, Roland at eternal peace.  They were loved and supported in life by their children Billy (Tama) and Bobby (Amy). Their pride and joy was their granddaughter, Liliana Barbara.

Ivy and Rol enjoyed life together cutting wood, ski-doo and ATV riding, spending time at their cabin at Green Island Lake, and visiting their children Billy in Ottawa and Bobby in Pittsburgh.  Their nightly routine included a Facetime chat with Lily to get a full account of her daily activities.

Ivy was a devoted member of the Sandy Cove Lions Club and spent many hours volunteering her time.  She enjoyed her time working with Canada Post, since she got to chat with the whole community.

Ivy will be remembered with fond memories by her sons Billy (Tama), Bobby (Amy), granddaughter Liliana, Mother Hazel Genge; special nieces Collette and Annette; exceptional care givers and sister-in-law Barbara Genge and Harris Genge; Sisters Patsy (Roland) Way; Elaine (John) Noseworthy; Marjorie (Wycliffe) Rose; Dorcas (Nelson) White; Pamela (Peter) Hrdlicka; Maxine (Cyril) Genge and one brother Harvey Genge.  In Laws Eva (Garfield)Way; Eliza (late Edmund); Sarah (late Kirby); Mona (Stanley) and special nephew Melvin (Sonya) Way.  Also, a large circle of nephew, nieces, and friends.

Ivy was predeceased by her husband of 49 years Roland Coles on Feb 26-2023; her father William Genge; her father-in-law Roland Coles Sr; sisters in laws Dora; Margaret (Nelson) White; Alma (Gerald) Coles.

A public viewing will take place at St. Anthony at the Anglican Church from 10:00 – 12:00 AM on Monday, March 20, 2023.  Everyone welcome. A funeral for both Ivy and Roland will take place on 29th July 2023 at the Sandy Cove Anglican Church.

DECKER, NEVA IVY

was born in Miles Cove, NL to Stephen and Rhoda (Short) Normore on September 28, 1941. She had one sister and four brothers. She met Samuel Decker while he was teaching in the area and they were married on September 29th, 1960. Neva was the proud mother of three sons: Moody, George, and Stephen. Neva and Samuel were also blessed with four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; whom they loved dearly. Neva followed her husband, Samuel, to his hometown of L’Anse aux Meadows; but they spent many years living in Ontario and Corner Brook before returning to L’Anse aux Meadows. They later moved to St. Lunaire-Griquet where they lived out the remainder of their lives together. Neva was a homemaker at heart but spent most of her working life at the Fisheries Products Plant in St. Anthony. She had a love of quilting and gifted her family with her homemade expressions of love. Neve was predeceased by her husband, Samuel, on October 20, 2017. They were committed to the faith, loved God, and regularly attended the Pentecostal Church in St. Lunaire-Griquet. She leaves to mourn her Sons, Moody (Sue-Ann), George (Yvonne), Stephen (Wanda); Grandchildren, Bobby, April, Stephanie, Vanessa; Great-grandchildren, Lucas, Leah, Skylar; Brothers, Cyril (Avis), Lloyd (Flora); Sister, Joy (Cecil), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends. Neva was predeceased by her husband, Samuel Wilfred Decker; Father, Stephen Normore; Mother, Rhoda (Short) Normore; Brothers, Eric, and Lesie. Visitation was held from the Pentecostal Faith Tabernacle in St. Lunaire-Griquet from where the funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018 at 2:00 with Pastor Baker officiating. DECKER, IVY MARIE

It is with great sadness that the family of Ivy Marie Decker announce her passing on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 83 years. Born in Cook’s Harbour on July 13th, 1934. She leaves to mourn with precious memories, her loving family: Her sons, Glenn (Glenda) Pittman, Barry (Sharon) Decker, Trevor (Kim) Decker; Daughters Evelyn (Dennis) Keats, Wanda (Brian) Hughes, Dorcas (Doug) Pelton; Her grandchildren Glenn (Arlene), Shelley , Chris (Vina), Barry (Tracey), Tara and Allie; Great grandchildren Cody and Max; Her Sister Gladys Warren; Her brothers Everton Pittman and Aaron (Winnie) Pittman. Ivy also leaves behind a special friend Louise Short and a wide circle of family and friends. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Maxwell Aaron Decker. Visitation begins on Saturday March 24th at St. Matthews Church Cook’s Harbour. Family service to be held on Monday March 26th at 7 pm. A celebration of Ivy’s life will take place at St. Matthew’s Church Cook’s Harbour Tuesday March 27th at 11:00 am. Flowers are welcome, and donations in memory of Ivy can be made to St. Matthew’s Anglican Church Cook’s Harbour.
