HEDDERSON, VELMA

June 24, 1940 - January 12, 2025
Passed away into peace on the 12th of January, 2025 Mrs. Velma Hedderson of Hay Cove in her 84th Year.

Velma was born in Hay Cove on June 24th 1940, to Dorman and Blanche Eddison. On January 12, 1959, she married the love of her life Vallance Hedderson. Together they raised three children: Dennis, Kettie, Audrey and grandson Tyler

Velma adored her family and friends with her whole heart!
Visitation is being held at the Central United Church at Quirpon Branch, January 14th, 2025, and continuing through to the Funeral Service at 2pm on Wednesday January 15th, 2025 with Rev. Mark Willkoff officiating. Cremation will follow the service with burial at a later date.

HEDDERSON, WINSOR

January 5th, 1949 – February 4th, 2024

It is with profound sadness that the family of the late Winsor Hedderson announce his passing on February 4th, 2024 at the age of 75 years at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony.

Winsor was born to Garland and Frances Hedderson (nee Patey) on January 5, 1949. He married his true love Nellie Pittman of Cook’s Harbour on May 7th, 1971. Together they built their lives in Cook’s Harbour and raised two Children, Lisa and Chad. He worked in the fishery all of his life. A career he truly loved until his retirement.

He leaves to mourn with many fond memories his wife of 52 years, Nellie, Children: Lisa (Noel) and Chad (Trina); grandchildren: Victor, Dorrie (Christopher), Alyssa and Baylee; Sisters: Jaunita, Marilyn (Llewelyn); Donna (Earl), Myra, and Sharon (Erastus); Brothers: Alonzo (Thelma), Bill (Barbara), Ken (Joy), and Ted (Marina); Sister- in-law Ellen and many nieces and nephews.

Winsor is predeceased by his parents, Garland and Frances Hedderson, Brothers: Thomas and Wayne; Brothers-in-law: Reginald Decker, Rex Elms, and Bernard Prins; and a very special Uncle Silas.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at The John M. Gray and Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital for their help and support in caring for Winsor. A special thanks to his homecare workers Louise Short and Beatrice Short for their time in taking care of Winsor while he was at home. God Bless you all!

Visitation will take place at Wesley United Church in Cook’s Harbour beginning Wednesday, February 7th. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 9th, 2024 at 2:30 pm with Rev. Arthur Kinsella officiating. Interment to follow at Central United Cemetery, Quirpon Branch.

HEDDERSON, JOE LEWIS

November 28, 1938 - March 15, 2023

Joe passed away from the Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on March 15, 2023 at the age of 84 years.

Joe leaves to mourn, his Wife, Eliza; Daughters: Cynthia (Bill), Venessa (Todd), Rebecca; and Step-daughter, Beverly (Gord).

Joe is remembered by his brother, Harrison; Sister-in-law: Bridget; Grandchildren: Nikko, Cameron, Michael (Cathy), Jessica (Joey), and Terry; Great-grandchildren: Kallum, Jason, Fenix, Griffon, Evee, and Jeremy. Joe also leaves to mourn many loving nieces, nephews, as well as a large circle of family and friends.

Joe was predeceased by his father, Noah and Mother, Evelyn; Brothers: Nelson and Leonard; Sister: Marjorie; and Sister-in-law, Alice.

The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time.

HEDDERSON, CARMEN MARIE (NEE EDDY)

August 1, 1954 - December 28, 2021

Marie was born to Rita and Walter J. Eddy on August 1, 1954 in Pleasent Harbour, NS. She had 5 brothers, Barry, Billy, Raymond, Wayne, and Arnold as well as 2 Sisters, Shirley and Lois. Marie devoted her life to her work and family. She worked at the Chocolate factory for 38 years until they shut down. Marie met the love of her life, Dwane Hedderson from Quirpon and was married on September 17, 2005 in Nova Scotia. A few years later they moved back to Quirpon where she continued to work. Marie loved walking the beaches looking for sea glass. He goal was to set up her own shop when she retired but cancer didn’t allow that to happen. Marie lost her battle with cancer on December 28, 2021 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony with her family at her side at the age of 67 years.

She will be greatly missed by her husband Dwane; Daughter, Crystal; Grandhcildren, Rebecca, Emily, Lance, Lucas, and Gwen; Stephchildren, Maurice and Monia; Mother-in-law, Florence Hedderson; Brothers in law Don (Dorothy) , Tom (Ann), Edward (Lona), Rick (Leona) ; Sisters in Law Jessie (Maurice), Wanda (Bob), Sherry (Edward); Siblings, Barry, Billy, Raymond, Shirley, Lois, as well as a large circle of family and friends.

HEDDERSON, ALICE MAE

January 2, 1948 - December 16, 2021

Alice Mae Hedderson (Nee Pilgrim) was born in Fox Harbour(St. Lewis), Labrador. To Wesley and and Clara Pilgrim on January 2nd, 1948. On November 30th, 1966 she married the love of her life, Harrison. Together they raised 5 girls, Maxine, Cindy, Nicole, Lorie and Melanie, as well as oldest Grandson, Jonathan. She was blessed with 4 grandchildren; Jonathan, Blake, Claire and Joshua. Alice was a woman well known for her smile, contagious laughter and kindness, who had always put others first, and was always there to lend a helping hand. Alice loved to do her word search, while enjoying her Tetley Tea and watching Coronation Street. She also enjoyed cooking for her family, and making her signature homemade bread to share with all.

Alice leaves to mourn her Husband, Harrison Hedderson; Daughters, Maxine (Wally), Cindy, Nicole, Lorie (David), Melanie (Jim); Sisters, Betty Pilgrim, Millie Gillingham; Brothers, Eric, Albert, Murdock, Leonard, Fred; Grandchildren, Jonathan, Blake, Claire, and Joshua. Alice will also be greatly missed by a large circle of other relatives, close friends. Alice was pre-deceased by her parents, Wesley & Clara Pilgrim; Brothers, Sam, Aubrey ; and Sisters, Evelyn, Blanche, and Lavenia.

May 19th, 1929, Cecilia Anne was born to Maude and Joseph Clarke of Canada Harbour. She shared her childhood with sisters, Agnes, Carmel, Jenny, Dorothy, Elsie, and Brothers, Cyril and Garrett. At the age of 26 she married William Hedderson, unfortunately William was called home after just 10 short years of marriage.
Cecilia devoted her life to her 8 children, Madonna, Anne, Maxine, Leone, Jim, Bill, Denise, and Lonny.
In her later years, Cecilia was blessed with 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Cecilia will never be forgotten, her memories will live forever in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Cecilia lived a long and full life. She passed at the age of 92.

Gladys was born in Main Brook on April 26, 1946. She was the 4th child to be born to Fred and Olive Saunders. She was born part of a twin along with her sister Isabel. Gladys put a courageous fight with cancer, having a strong heart made her a fighter to the end. Gladys loved life to the fullest. She loved crafting and going to the trailer. Her love of cooking and baking was the delight of her family. She lived many years in Ontario returning home in 2008 to live in Norris Point with her sister Isabel. They both returned to the home town of St. Lunaire in 2018. Gladys loved having people around, especially kids. She loved a good party- lots of food, music, and laughter. She leaves to mourn her Son, Rick (Melissa); Daughters, Molly (Shawn), Maxine, Glenys (Havner); Siblings, Herb (Evangeline), Rex (Irene), Mary, Isabel, Ez (Viann), Sher (Pat), Alma (Ron), Wade (Coleen); Grandchildren, Michael, Cameron, Dudley, Krystal, Kadie, Travis, Adam, Cheryl, Stacey, Matt; Greatgrandchildren, Jacob, Avery, Ari, Henacy, Kaiden. It is with great sadness that the family of Elaine Hedderson announces her passing after a lengthy illness, on Sunday, April 18th, 2021, at the age of 52 years. Elaine was sick for a significant portion of her life and Susie devoted her life to her care. Words cannot begin to describe the love and nurturing that Susie provided over the last half a century to ensure that Elaine had the best possible life. Elaine and Susie made countless trips to Curtis Memorial Hospital and to the Janeway over the years, and is forever grateful for the care from the health care teams, too numerous to mention; and for the prayers and support from all her former and current pastoral care and church community. Elaine will be forever remembered by her loving mother Susie and her children Terry (Natalie) ; Ella (Wayne), and Dwight (Mary). Elaine will also be fondly remembered by her close family members- Margaret and Jim Wight, Sybil Hiller, Francis and Ernest Hedderson, Walter and Nellie Bennett, Aaron and Noah , Terry and Stephanie, Dillon and Elizabeth, Matthew and Robyn , Jenna, Bryan. Elaine was predeceased by her father, John, and her brother, Bryan. She has been cared for throughout the years by numerous homecare workers, who have been a mountain of support for Elaine and Susie. Private visitation to take place on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 12 pm - 1:30 pm to followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm at Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle, St. Lunaire-Griquet, with Pastor Bill Harnum officiating. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, attendance at the church service, and visitation, starting from 2:00 pm on April 21st will be by invitation only. Interment will follow in the cemetery at Quirpon. HEDDERSON, SARAH ELIZABETH

Sarah E. Hedderson, Born Feb. 22nd, 1925, passed into peace on the Dec. 26th of 2020 at her private residence in Straitsview NL. Sarah married Samuel Hedderson on April 5th, 1945. at Spillards Cove NL (Straitsview). Together they raised six children; Erdie, Bernard, Maysie, Carrie, Phillip, Shawn and Erdiel. Sarah worked as a house keeper in the early years and retired from fishing around age 61. She enjoyed the outdoors and spent a lot of time in the woods, gardening and Berry Picking. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and mat hooking. Sarah was a loving grandmother of 20 grandchildren. She also had a large number of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Sarah will be lovingly missed by her family and a large circle of friends and relatives. She leaves to mourn Erdie Stroud, Bernard Hedderson, Maysie (Alvohn) Pilgrim, Carrie Beaufield, Phillip (Linda) Hedderson, Shawn Hedderson, and Erdie (Edward) Hynes. Sarah is also survived by her two sisters Florence Hedderson and Jessie Tucker. Sarah was predeceased by her husband Samuel, her parents Charles and Rebecca Decker, her daughter Edna, Her brothers Samuel, Avalock, Henry, Charles and Wilbert, her sisters Beulah and Bertha. The visitation and memorial service for Sarah was held at the funeral home in St. Anthony at 10am on the 30th of December, 2020 with Rev. Deacon Arthur Kinsella officiating, Burial followed in the Community Cemetery in Quirpon. Funeral services entrusted to Kerry M. HEDDERSON, RITA

November 2nd, 1945- April 14, 2019

Rita was born in Griquet to Sarah & William Bridger on November 2nd, 1945. She met the love of her life Ray Hedderson of Hay Cove and married on January 23, 1964. Together they had five children, two of which died as infants. Rita had many jobs but ended her career as a seamstress with Grenfell Handicrafts. She took great pride in sewing and spent most of her spare time doing the same. Her pride and joy were her six grandchildren. Rita’s house was always open and food was always prepared for her many invited guests. Rita was an active member of her church until no longer able to physically attend. But she continued her walk with God and ministered to others along the way. Her trust in God never changed throughout her lengthy illness. Rita passed peacefully on April 14, 2019 at the John M. Gray Center surrounded by her family. Rita leaves to mourn Husband, Ray; Daughters Angela (Byron) and Allison (Duane); Son-in-law Barry; Grandchildren Kelsey, Mark, Paul, Kristan, Dante, Tanisha and a large circle of friends and extended family. She was predeceased by two infant children, Allister and Arlene and daughter, Amelia. Visitation was held from the Bethel Pentecostal Church in St. Anthony from where the funeral service was held on Thursday, April 18. 2019 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jeff Elliot officiating.
