MITCHELMORE, WINSTON

September 11, 1940 - December 19, 2024

Mr. Winston Mitchelmore of Green Island Cove passed away in his home on December 19, 2024 surrounded by his loving family and friends at the age of 84 years.

He leaves to treasure memories, his Children: Marlene (Eric), Faye (Gerald), Julie (Harvey), Milton (Susie) and Josie (Dwight); Grandchildren: Jordan (Kelsey), Danny (Shelly), Susie (Chet), Chuck (Robin), Brandi (Lewis), Brady (Laura), Robby (Cassandra), Michelle (Youeil), Jada (Matthew), Monique (Jones); 19 Great Grandchildren; Special Friend and Partner: Carrie; Siblings: Milton (Patty), Elaine (Llewelyn), Alvin, As well as a large circle of family and friends

Winston is predeceased by his Wife: Dorcas; Son: Winston Jr.; and Parents: Elijah and Ethel.

The funeral service was held from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Lower Cove on December 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Canon Vernon Short officiating. Interment followed in the Green Island Cove Cemetery.

MITCHELMORE, CALVIN

October 31, 1948 - December 14, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Calvin Mitchelmore announce his peaceful passing at Curtis Memorial Hospital on December 14, 2024 at the age of 76 years, surrounded by his loving family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

On April 6, 1970, he married the love of his life Wavey. Together they raised three children, George Henry, Sheldon, and Gina. At the age of 17, Calvin left home to work at IOC in Labrador City. He later returned home and attended Memorial University where he got his teaching degree. He was a teacher for 30 years. During that time, he gained a huge circle of friends and coworkers. Calvin was a devoted member of the Green Island Cove Lions Club where he took much pride in the work that was undertaken. He was very well known and respected throughout the area. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Calvin will forever be remembered and missed by: his Wife, Wavey; Children: George Henry (Yolanda), Sheldon (Nina), and Gina (Brook); Grandchildren: Kristen (Kyle), Skye (Jeff), Slayde, Kent, Harlee, and Hanna; Sisters: Mary Rachel (Herbert), Enid (Mike), Joy (Dennis), and Gail (Sidney); Brothers in law: John, Ike, and George (Lucy); Sister in law: Nancy (Grenfell); Nieces and nephews as well as many other extended family and friends.

Calvin is predeceased by: his Parents: George Henry and Myrtle; Parents-in-law: Harrison and Selina; Sister Gladys: Sister-in-law: Madeline and brother in law Amos.

The family would like to send many thanks to the staff of the Strait of Belle Isle Health Centre and Curtis Memorial Hospital for all the compassionate care during Calvin’s illness and passing.

Visitation will take place at Kerry M. Fillatre Home, St. Anthony on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 1-5pm. The funeral Service will take place on Saturday, December 21. 2024 from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Lower Cove, NL at 2:00 PM with Rev. Canon Vernon Short officiating. Interment to take place at a later date.

MITCHELMORE, GRAYDON

April 1, 1939 - June 25, 2024

Is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Graydon Mitchelmore. He passed with his daughter Jill by his side. Born April 1st to Thomas and Mamie Ellen. He was the eldest of 6 kids.

Graydon was devoted husband, Daddy, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He was a family man and worked hard to provide for his family. He worked many years in Lab City where he was away from his family to provide for them and give them the best life possible. After retirement he liked to keep busy.  He cut all his wood for the winter, tending his gardens, and kept his lawns nice and trimmed and working on anything that needed to be done. He took a lot of pride in everything he did. 

He had a deep love of animals and passed that love down through his family.  At times we think he loved the pets as much as he loved the rest of the family. He has returned to be with the love of his life and is now at peace. 

He is survived by Son: Jasper; Daughters Jill and May; Grandchildren: Graydon (Tammy), Deanie, Michael, Tammy; Great grandchildren Darrius and Marcus; Sisters: Myrtle (Ren), Bertha, and Velma (Wally); Brother-in-laws: John Thomas (Winnie), Vincent (Jessie) and Marcelle (Eura). He will be missed by many of his furry grandkids, especially River.

He is predeceased by his wife Rhoda Susan, his son Dean, his grandparents George and Sarah, mom and dad Thomas and Mamie Ellen, Brother’s Maitland and Harvey. Sister-in-laws Millicent, Maisie and Mamie Ellen (Lambert).

Visitation to take place from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Lower Cove on Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral will take place on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Artur Kinsella officiating. Interment to follow.

MITCHELMORE, MAMIE ELLEN

Mamie Ellen Mitchelmore passed away peacefully at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital, on January 30th 2023 at the age of 84, surrounded by her loving family. 

Mamie Ellen was born in Green Island Cove on December 22nd, 1938 to James and Amy McLean. She was raised with her three sisters and three brothers, whom she remained very close with throughout her life. 

She married the love of her life, Lambert Mitchelmore, on August 16th of 1959 and together they had five wonderful children; Brenda, Scott, Sidney, Kirby, and Ruby. She was also blessed with ten grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren whom she adored. 

Mamie Ellen loved visits from her wide circle of family and friends. She enjoyed cooking their favorite meals and always had something sweet in the fridge for her visitors to enjoy. Mamie Ellen also enjoyed gardening, knitting and playing cards. 

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories; Children- Brenda (Loomis), Scott (Janette), Sidney (Gail), Kirby (Velda), and Ruby; Grandchildren-  Monty (Denise), Ryan (Judy), Holly (Pelle), Dylan (Megan), Katie (Brandon), Kianna (Ryan), Colton (Kate), Nicholas (Mackenzie), Shannon (Jessica), and Alyson (Dillon); Great-Grandchildren- Cody (Michaela), Leya (Jack), Reid, Emma, Ashton, Kaseon, Finnley, Taylen and Owen; Brothers- John Thomas (Winnie), Vincent (Jessie), and Marcelle (Eura); In-Laws- Rhoda and Graydon; special nephew- Brent; special friends- Selby and Cicely, as well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Lambert, her parents, James and Amy McLean, her In-Laws, William and Ruth Mitchelmore, her sisters, Millicent McLean, Maisie McLean, and Rhoda Susan Mitchelmore, as well as her Son-In-Law, Randy Moores. 

The family would like to send a special thanks to her wonderful homecare workers, Jill and Robin, whom she adored. 

Visitation will take place at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Lower Cove, NL from where the funeral service will also be held on Thursday, February 2nd 2023 at 2pm with Rev Canon Vernon Short. Passed away April 2, 2022 at the Flowers Cove Health Center at the age of 85 years.

MITCHELMORE, ALMA (NEE GOULD)

December 14, 1934 - December 22, 2021

Passed away peacefully on December 22, 2021 at The Agnes Pratt Home in St. John’s, NL at the age of eighty-seven (87).

Alma was born in Bear Cove, NL on December 14, 1934, the daughter of Stephen and Effie Gould. She raised her family in Green Island Cove, NL. She was a religious person, a proud family woman, a great homemaker, and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was kind and affectionate to everyone.

Alma will always be remembered by her daughter Yvonne (Frank); sons Bob (Fern), Garfield (Pam), Rick, Albert (Cathy); grandchildren: Louise, Christa, and David (Yvonne); Paul, Adam, and Kelly (Bob); Brad (Garfield); Ryan, Kyle, and Lucas (Albert); great-grandchildren Haley (Louise), Blake and Callie (Christa), Emma (David), Eve (Paul), Molly and Mary (Adam); sisters Bridgette Gould (late Isaac), Marie Mitchelmore (George), Mary Dredge (late Curtis), Jane Genge (Abraham); brothers Clyde Gould (Ethel), Austin Gould (Ivy).

Alma is predeceased by her husband Garfield, her son David, parents Stephen and Effie Gould, sisters Gloria Gould, Georgina Genge (late Daniel), Ivy Gould (Cyril).

BUSHEY, ANNIE

It is with great sadness that the family of Annie Marie Bushey of Green Island Cove, NL passed away at the John M Gray Center on the May 1st , 2021, at the age of 68 years. She will be sadly missed by her brothers Raymond (Cicely) and, Garry (Joanne) Mitchelmore and sister Edna Parrill , her sister in laws Judy, Dorcas and Anne Mitchelmore and brother in laws Larry (Melinda), Glenn (Mary), Rodney (Tina) Bushey and fondly remembered by a large circle of nieces and nephews and other family members and friends. Annie “Aunt Annie” was born in Green Island Cove on Jan 19th 1953, the second youngest of 9 children of Theophilus and Augustina Mitchelmore, She became a friend to all of the teenagers in the community as she ran the family Snack Bar for many years. In the early 80’s while on a regular visit to the “Eagle Lounge ”after the snack bar was closed for the night, she met her future husband (Terry Bushey ) whom she was married for 33 years. Although she had no children, she had many nieces and nephews whom she spoiled rotten. She didn’t mind expressing her thoughts but always with a smile. As a mainstay of the family who rarely left home, her and Terry would look after taking care of all the family’s requests such as Family Tree (Christmas), donations to friends and family funerals and other things on behalf of the family. Annie and Terry lived in the family home to help look after “Maw” after “Pap” passed away, either spending time in the cabin or regular trips to St. Anthony to pick up the Grenfell mats. She always loved to have someone in and have a good game of cards and maybe cheat a little bit to have a good laugh. During the last 15 years she has had various sickness but she always kept a positive attitude and was a happy person. She was pre-deceased by husband of 33 years (Terry Bushey), Parents Theophilus and Augustina Mitchelmore and Parents in Law James and Ima Bushey, Sisters Effie Blanche, Lydia Chambers; Brothers Stanley ,Churchill and Willis Mitchelmore; Brother in Laws, Aaron Chambers, Ralph Parrill and Sister in law Margaret Mitchelmore. The funeral will take place at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 15th,2021 at Kerry M Fillatre’s funeral home with Rev. Short officiating. Interment to follow at a later date. Is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Rhoda Susan Mitchelmore on December 28th, 2020.  She passes at home with her husband by her side. . Born July 23rd 1936 to Amy and Jim McLean. She was the eldest of 7 kids. She is predeceased by her son Dean and mom and Dad Amy and Jim, sisters Millicent and Maisie. Mother and father in law Tom and Mamie Ellen.  Brother in laws. Mainland and Harvey. She is survived by her husband of 61 years Graydon Mitchelmore. Son Jasper, daughters Jill and May.  Grandchildren Graydon (Tammy),  Deanie, Michael, Tammy. Great grandchildren Darrius and Marcus.  Sister. Mamie Ellen, brothers John Thomas (Winnie), Vincent (Jessie) and Marcel (Eura). Sister in laws Bertha, Velma (Wally), Myrtle (Ren). She will be missed by many of her furry grandkids, Posie will especially miss his Nans’s cuddles. Rhoda Susan was devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She was a kind hearted person who had many friends and loved by all who knew her. She was an amazing cook and baker. She loved sharing what she made with family and friends or just people she met.  You would never go to her home and leave hungry.  She enjoyed a good game of cards and knitting, she knit socks for many family and friends as well as the homeless and kids at Janeway.   If there was anyone in need she was there to help.

McLEAN, TODD

It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Todd Shelby McLean announce his tragedy at sea on July 29, 2020 at the age of 49. Todd spent most of his life as an inshore fisherman To provide for his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ski-dooing, and in the woods. Left with fond memories his wife Joan, on March 4, 1995 he was overjoyed with the birth of his first daughter Brittany, and on January 12, 2001 he welcomed his other little girl Emily, they meant the world to him, his mother and father Cicely and Shelby Mclean, brother Samuel (Nikita) and a large circle of nephews,nieces,aunts, uncles and family and friends. He was precdeceased by grandparents Sadie & Pierce Mclean, Mary & James Toope, mother & father in law Beatrice & Samuel Taylor and friend Clyde Mitchelmore. Terry James Bushey of Green Island Cove , NL passed away unexpectedly on the April 7th , 2019, at the age of 63 years.
