POWELL, EMMA JOAN

It’s with great sadness that the family of Joan Powell announce her sudden passing at Charles Memorial hospital on Saturday Feb. 17 2024.

Emma Joan (Colbourne) Powell was born on October 1, 1952 to Hayward and Mary (Hussey) Colbourne. She met the love of her life, Donald Powell, and married on May 7th 1977, and together they had 5 children, Bary Colbourne (Gaye), Natasha Sharpe (Anders), Brad Powell (Melanie), Janene Powell (Carey) and Dana Powell (Emily). She spent her life working and raising her family making friends along the way.

She was blessed with 7 Grandchildren Christopher, Cameron, Sarah, Matthew, Ryan, Nikolas and Dylan, and one great grand-daughter Madison. Who she loved dearly.

Joan leaves to mourn her children, grandchildren and great grandchild, Sisters: Lavinia, Pearl, Ann (Bill) and Trudy (Gary); half brother: Heber (Loretta), countless nieces and nephews as well as a large circle of family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Donald Powell, parents Hayward and Mary Colbourne and her brother Sherlock Colbourne.

Cremation has already taken place with a burial to take place at a later date.

CASSELL, EMMA HARRIETT

January 14, 1950 - December 16, 2020

Passed away at the John M Gray Center in St. Anthony on December 16, 2020 at the age of 70 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her Husband, Harvey; Children, Marlene Tucker, Wilfred Cassell, Frank Cassell, Lisa Cassell (Keith), Robert Cassell, Luann Ropson (Roddy), Charity Cassell (Mike), Kristen Cassell (Andy); as well as 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. The private Funeral Service is to take place on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 2:00 pm from the Calvary Pentecostal Church with Pastor Mark Locke officiating. Interment to follow in the Pentecostal Faith Cemetery in Roddickton. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.

PENNEY, MARIE EMMA

May 26, 1944 – August 1, 2018


On August 1, 2018, Marie passed into the presence of the Lord. Marie was born on May 26th, 1944 to parents Fletcher and Myrtle Weir of Roddickton, NL. After finishing school Marie accepted a job as a Nurse’s Aide with the Roddickton Health Clinic. Marie met the love of her life, Daniel Hodge, in 1963 and married that same year. Marie and Daniel were blessed with 5 children; one boy, Perry, and 4 Girls, Patty, Bonnie, Connie, and Joanne. In 1994 Marie’s Husband, Daniel Hodge, passed into the presence of the One that he loved and served. Then, in 1999 Marie met and married George Penney from Port Hope Simpson, Labrador and she was blessed to have inherited two stepsons (spouses) and 5 stepdaughters (spouses) and grandchildren. Marie and George lived in St. Lunaire-Griquet for a year and then moved to Roddickton where they lived together until her untimely passing. Marie leaves to mourn her Husband, George Penney; Daughter, Pastor Bonnie Hodge – Edmonton, AB; Sisters, Victoria (Gilbert), Madonna (Murray), Glenda (Chris) – Thompson, MB; Brother Pleman; 2 granddaughters, Samantha (Dale) – Ft. Mcmurray, AB, Stephanie (Matt) – Ft. Mcmurray, AB; 2 Great-granddaughters Makayli – Edmonton, Cecilia – Ft. Mcmurray; 1 Great-grandson, Zackary – Ft. Mcmurray, as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Marie was predeceased by her first Husband, Daniel Hodge, 4 Children; Perry, Patty, Joanne, and Connie; her parents Fletcher and Myrtle Weir; Brothers Alfred, Kevin, Garland and her Sister Jennie.

EDISON, EMMA JANE

Passed away into peace on the 16th of March 2015 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony in her 88th year, Mrs. Emma J. Eddison of Hay Cove, NL. Left to mourn are her children Grenfell (Marie), Winston (Christine), Jim (Wanda), Rose Tucker (Rick), Mazie (Lester), Wavey Hedderson (Clarence), Kevin (Gloria), Cassie Edison-Huntley (Steven), 14 grand children, 17 Great grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Sisters Annie and Fannie, Brother Pleman as well as a large circle of friends and family. Emma was predeceased by her mother Lucinda and Father Rueban, Husband Robert, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Visitation was held at the Central United Church at Quirpon Branch, from which the Funeral Service was held at 2:00pm on the 20th of March with Rev. Dinesh Gomes Officiating, Burial followed the service at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements where entrusted to Kerry M. SIMMS, EMMA BERYL

Emma Beryl Colbourne was born in St. Anthony, on March 29, 1931. She worked as a nurse's aide at IGA prior to becoming a wife and mother. Beryl enjoyed many outdoor activities with her husband and children and in later years cherished spending time with her grandchildren. She loved bingo games with her friends, cooking for everyone, and tending to her flower garden. She remained witty throughout her long life. Beryl Passed into peace on May 26, 2014  at the John M. Gray Center in St. Anthony in her 83rd year, she will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed. She leaves to mourn her children, Barb (Sam), Beattie (Cathy), Bradley (Jennifer). Grandchildren: Tara, Michael, Amanda, Samantha, Alana, Alexander and Nikita. Great grandchildren: Eli, Simon, Cynthia, Maddison, McKenna, Taylor, Alexa. Siblings: Sister Marjorie, Brothers Bill, Bruce, Allan, and Morgan. Also a large circle of extended family and friends.  She was predeceased by her husband Alex, parents, Frederick and Jane Colbourne,  daughter Pamela (Bob), sisters Florence, Irene, and brother Edward. visitation took place at the funeral home, followed the funeral service at 2:00pm on May 29th, 2014 at the st. Anthony united Church with Rev. John McGonigle officiating. burial followed the service at the Fishing Point United Cemetery. Funeral arrangements where entrusted to  Kerry M.
