EDDISON, JANET

May 21st 1963- February 1st, 2025

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we, the family of Janet Eddison announce her passing. Janet passed away peacefully on February 1st, 2025 at the Health Science Center in St. Johns surrounded by family.

Janet Eddison was born on May 21st, 1963 to Harvey and Rita Hillier of Griquet, NL, she was one of fourteen children. She moved to Noddy Bay and married the love of her life Arthur Eddison on May 22, 1981 and had three beautiful children that were her greatest accomplishment.

Janet leaves to mourn her three children, son Greg (Sherry); daughters Sheena (Ryan) and Nikki (Adam); grandchildren, Paityn, Ben, Jack and Conrad and mother-in-law Marion, along with a large circle of family and friends.

She is predeceased by her husband Art, parents Harvey and Rita, sisters Leona and Ruby and brothers Alvin, Wilfred and Dennis.

Public visitation will be held at Calvary Pentecostal Church on February 5, 2024 from 7:00-8:00 pm. With a celebration of life on February 6, 2025 at 2:00 pm with Pastors Geoff and Charity Butler officiating. Burial will follow the service at Quirpon Community Cemetery.

EDDISON, WINNIFRED HAZEL

May 5, 1944 - October 11, 2024

Winnifred Hazel Eddison (nee Young) of Noddy Bay, NL passed away in the presence of her loved ones at the Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital on October 11, 2024 at the age of 80 years.

Winnie was born in Quirpon to Thomas and Alfreda ( Nee Roberts) Young, Her mom passed away when she was seven years old and she became a mother figure to her brothers that continued throughout her lifetime. She married Wesley Eddison of Noddy Bay on January 24, 1964 and raised five children together. She worked at the fish plant until she had her first battle with cancer. She fought cancer on three occasions but always remained witty and funny throughout it all. She always maintained that moonshine was the best medicine for any and all  illnesses. She will certainly be remembered by her family for her amazing cooking skills, berry picking, knitting and making quilts. Her quilts are in all corners of the world with a few in bed and breakfast businesses on the Northern Peninsula. 

Winnie leaves to Mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories, her children: Dwayne ( Shirley), Sheldon ( Tracey), Barry ( Kelly) Jackie and Tanya ( David); Sisters: Florence, Nellie and half sister Barbara; Brothers: Lloyd (Joyce), Eric (Moriah), Norman (Glenda), Algie and  half brother Thomas; Brother in law Francis ( Selma) Hedderson. Grandchildren: Marcel, Stefan; April, Alexander, Dayna, Hayward, Erin, Ethan, Amanda, Aaron and 13 great grandchildren. Winnie will also be greatly missed by a large circle of other relatives and close friends. Too many to name but Matilda Pynn, Graham Burden, Hazel Hedderson, Beryl Pilgrim, Karen Patey. Joy Hedderson ( Both of them) , Carl Hedderson ( Her psychiatrist), 10 well fed chickens and the rest of Aunt Blanche's children are a few. 

Winnie was Predeceased by her parents and husband Wesley. Father in law Walter Eddison and Mother in law Victoria ( nee Roberts) Brother in laws Ambrose ( Elsie) Hedderson, Nimrod Hedderson, Stan ( Nellie) Bishop. James ( Flo) Barron. Sister in laws Johanna (Ernest)Hillier, Blanche( Peter) Hedderson, Mary Ann (Israel) Blake  and Sarah Jane ( Willie) Bishop.


Visitation will take place from the Central United Church at Quirpon Branch  on October 14th 2024 at 6-9pm and October 15, 2024 at 1-3pm and 6 to 9pm.  The funeral will take place on  Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Arthur Kinsella officiating. Interment to follow at the Quirpon Cemetery.

EDDISON, LYDIA MATILDA

July 25, 1943 - August 21, 2024

Born on July 25, 1943 to Cyrus & Alma Fillier of Roddickton. She moved to Main Brook in early 1963 and there she married Norman Eddison on April 18,1963.

She had 4 Children (Denise, Randy, Rick, and Rodger) She spent most of her younger years raising her children and working in the local Fish Plant. She really enjoyed Knitting, Gardening, and she dearly loved her ‘Soap Operas’. She welcomed everyone into her home with open arms and she cooked up a good many ‘Scoffs’ in her time.

When her children were younger she had many children/teenagers staying over for sleepovers and she always made sure everyone had plenty to eat. She never had a lot of money during her life but she never let her children do without anything. She certainly enjoyed spending time with her Family & Friends.

She leaves to mourn with many loving memories, her Daughter: Denise (Kenny); Sons: Rick (Tara), Randy (Stephanie), Rodger (Connie); Brothers: David, Jeffery (Rhonda); Wilson (Rita); Special Friends (whom she called sisters): Josephine Jones, Shirley Pilgrim; also, Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, and a large number of relatives and friends.

Lydia is predeceased by her husband: Norman Eddison, Parents: Cyrus & Alma Fillier; Brother: Norman Fillier “Brud”; and Sister: Patsy Penney.

Visitation will take place from St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Main Brook beginning the evening of Sunday, August 25, 2024 and will continue daily until the funeral service on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Canon Terrance Coates officiating. Interment to follow.

EDDISON, MABEL

March 26th, 1935 - July 25th, 2022

Peacefully passed away July 25th, 2022 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital at the age of 87 years. Mabel leaves to mourn with cherished memories her daughters Marie (David) Stephens, Shirley (Darryl) Osmond, Glenice (Fred) Carter, Pansy Roberts; sons Harvey (Evelyn), Boyce (Alice), Colin (Brenda) and daughter in law Pauline Eddison as well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by husband, Carmen; son Hedley; parents Jack and Daphne Andrews; sisters Nina and Dulcie; grandsons Lindsay and Melvin and son-in-law Loren Roberts.

Family and friends are welcome to visit the Central United Church on July 26, 2022 at 3:00pm and 7:00 pm to pay respect. A funeral and celebration of life will take place on Wednesday, July 27th, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jeff Elliott officiating, followed with burial at the Central United Cemetery. EDDISON, ARTHUR

July 12, 1960 - May 27, 2022

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that the family of Arthur Eddison announce his passing. Art passed away peacefully at the Health Science Center in St. Johns surrounded by his beloved wife and three children at the age of 61.

Arthur Eddison was born on July 12, 1960 to Plemen and Marion Eddison of Noddy Bay. He was one of eight children who settled and built a house in his hometown. He married Janet Hillier on May 22, 1981 and had three beautiful children. Later in life Art gained four grandchildren which he absolutely adored!

Art was a long time employee for 30 plus years with Parks Canada in L’anse Aux Meadows. He was very dedicated to his job but looked forward to his retirement where he could enjoy all the outdoor activities that he loved.

Predeceased by his father Pleman and brother Truman. Art leaves to mourn his wife, Janet; son, Greg (Sherry); Daughters Sheena (Ryan) and Nikki (Adam); Grandchildren, Paityn, Ben, Jack and Conrad. Mother, Marion, two brothers and four sisters along with a large circle of extended family and friends.

Visitation to take place from the Central United Church, Quirpon Branch Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning with the funeral service taking place at 2:00 on Wednesday, June 1 2022 with Rev Art Kinsella officiating. Interment to follow in the Quirpon Community Cemetery.

EDDISON, PLEMAN

Passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 16th day of August 2015, Mr. Pleman Hedderson of Noddy Bay was in his 87th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 61 years Marion, children Janice (Alex), Barbara (Hubert), Lester (Vi), Art (Janet), Lucinda (Elijah), Wade, Edith (Dexter), Colin (Petrina), Seventeen Grandchildren, Twenty Great Grandchildren, Two Sisters Fanny and Annie. HE was predeceased by his son Truman Eddison, Parents Reuben and Lucinda Eddison, Brother’s Stewart, Aquilla, William, and Sisters Catherine, Dulcie and Emma. Visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Dark Tickle from which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on the 20th day August 2015 with Rev. Mark Wilkoff officiating. EDDISON, WESLEY

Passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 22nd day of October 2014. Mr. Wesley Eddison of noddy bay was in his 73rd year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Winnifred, Sons Dwayne(Shirley), Sheldon(Tracey), Barry (Kelly), Daughters Jackie and Tanya (David) Baker, Grandchildren Marcel, Amanda, Dayna, Hayward, Stefan, April, Aaron, Alexander, Erin, and Ethan, Great Grandchildren Victoria, Shayden, Jaxon, and Layla, Brother Francis(Selma) as well as other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Victoria, Brothers Nimrod and Ambrose, Sisters Mary Ann Blake, Sarah Jane Bishop, Bertha, Johanna Hillier and Blanche Hedderson. Visitation was held at the Central United Church on the 24th day of October 2014 from which the service was held at 2:00pm on the 25th day of October 2014 with Rev. Gus Pendleton officiating.
