PILGRIM, HEZEKIAH ABSOLOM

November 23, 1942 - December 29, 2024

It is with heavy heats that the family of Hezekiah Absolom Pilgrim announce his passing on December 29, 2024 at the age of 82. Hezekiah (Kye) passed away peacefully at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony.

Kye, as he was known to everyone, loved to spend his time outside. Doing anything from trouting, berry picking or just fiddling around. But his favorite past time was his garden, which he tended to with pride.

Kye will forever be remembered and missed by anyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting him.

Leaving to mourn with fond memories are his sisters: Gladys, Betty, Karen, Glenda (Nath), June (Willie), Wendy (Brent); his brothers: Tobias and Eugene; special Uncle: Ronald (Harriet); special Aunt: Bessie, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Hezekiah is predeceased by his parents: Jonathon and Annie; brother: Ivan; sister: Goldie; brothers in law: James, Ford; and sister-in-law: Robin.

The family at this time would like to extend their most sincere appreciation to the staff at Curtis Memorial Hospital for their compassion during their time of need.

Visitation will take place at the Salvation Army Citadel on St. Anthony on Wednesday, January 1st, 2025 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 11am with Major Stokes officiating. Cremation will follow the service with inurnment to take place at a later date.

EARLE, MARY (DUCIE)

March 13, 1944 - December 28, 2024

In Loving Memory of Elizabeth Mary Louise Earle (March 13, 1944 - December 28, 2024) With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Mary Earle, who was called home to be with the Lord on December 28, 2024.

Mary was a woman of unshakable faith, whose love for God and devotion to the church were guiding lights throughout her life. She lived each day with love for her family and enjoyed many precious days spent with her sister-in-law, Vianne Saunders. Her faith was her foundation, and she found comfort in the promise of eternal life. As she enters heaven, we take solace in knowing she is reunited with her beloved husband: Frank, cherished daughter: Diane, beloved son-in-law: Robert, and precious granddaughter: Charli.

Mourning her loss are her beloved children: Loni (Keon), Danny (Linda), Junior (Maxine), Faye (Mark) and Scott (Lori). As well, she leaves to mourn 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and many family and friends who knew and loved her.

Mary’s laughter, kindness, and fun-loving spirit were gifts she shared freely with everyone around her. She brought people together with her warmth and especially her passion for berry picking. Her life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and community. She leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, unconditional love, and countless cherished memories.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held in the coming days, and we invite all who loved her to join us in honoring her incredible journey. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you carry her legacy forward by loving deeply, laughing often, and embracing the peace that faith brings.

Rest in peace, Mom. Your faith has carried you home, and your light will forever shine in our hearts.

Visitation will take place from the Calvary Pentecostal Church in St. Lunaire-Griquet on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm- family prayer to be announced. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at 2:00 pm with Pastors Geoff and Charity Butler officiating. Interment to follow.

Passed away peacefully at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony NL on The 23rd Day of December, 2024, Mrs. Ethel Gould in her 91st year.

Visitation is being held at the Bear Cove Anglican Church beginning Thursday December 26th and continuing through to the family service in the evening of Friday, December 27th, 2024. The funeral service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, December 28th, 2024 with Rev. Canon Vernon Short Officiating. burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

PYNN, ANGELA

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of our beloved Mother Angela Pynn, born November 21 1967, who passed away on the 6th of December after fighting her hardest to over come a traumatic brain injury. Jesus decided she was of more use in heaven, at his side, where she is at peace and no longer suffering. A woman of blind faith in the lord, Angela wasnt without hurdles in life, but that didnt stop her from raising two wonderful boys, now men, Dustin and Donovan. A woman of great morals, no matter the situation, nothing was stopping her from being the best mother she could, whilst still working overtime to attain 3 post graduate degrees, instilling the importance of education on to her kin. Angela is survived by her children, Donovan(melanie)Max, cole, rosie.  Dustin and his children Ciara, Caleb, Brothers Wally(keith) terry and andrea and Ivan and his children Jordan Brandon and Gina. The family would like to thank the medical teams at both the health sciences center in St. johns and nurses here at Curtis Hospital . She is laid to rest at the old anglican cemetary along side her mom and dad. A formal service will be held later next year with dates tba

September 11, 1940 - December 19, 2024

Mr. Winston Mitchelmore of Green Island Cove passed away in his home on December 19, 2024 surrounded by his loving family and friends at the age of 84 years.

He leaves to treasure memories, his Children: Marlene (Eric), Faye (Gerald), Julie (Harvey), Milton (Susie) and Josie (Dwight); Grandchildren: Jordan (Kelsey), Danny (Shelly), Susie (Chet), Chuck (Robin), Brandi (Lewis), Brady (Laura), Robby (Cassandra), Michelle (Youeil), Jada (Matthew), Monique (Jones); 19 Great Grandchildren; Special Friend and Partner: Carrie; Siblings: Milton (Patty), Elaine (Llewelyn), Alvin, As well as a large circle of family and friends

Winston is predeceased by his Wife: Dorcas; Son: Winston Jr.; and Parents: Elijah and Ethel.

The funeral service was held from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Lower Cove on December 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Canon Vernon Short officiating. Interment followed in the Green Island Cove Cemetery.

MITCHELMORE, CALVIN

October 31, 1948 - December 14, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Calvin Mitchelmore announce his peaceful passing at Curtis Memorial Hospital on December 14, 2024 at the age of 76 years, surrounded by his loving family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

On April 6, 1970, he married the love of his life Wavey. Together they raised three children, George Henry, Sheldon, and Gina. At the age of 17, Calvin left home to work at IOC in Labrador City. He later returned home and attended Memorial University where he got his teaching degree. He was a teacher for 30 years. During that time, he gained a huge circle of friends and coworkers. Calvin was a devoted member of the Green Island Cove Lions Club where he took much pride in the work that was undertaken. He was very well known and respected throughout the area. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Calvin will forever be remembered and missed by: his Wife, Wavey; Children: George Henry (Yolanda), Sheldon (Nina), and Gina (Brook); Grandchildren: Kristen (Kyle), Skye (Jeff), Slayde, Kent, Harlee, and Hanna; Sisters: Mary Rachel (Herbert), Enid (Mike), Joy (Dennis), and Gail (Sidney); Brothers in law: John, Ike, and George (Lucy); Sister in law: Nancy (Grenfell); Nieces and nephews as well as many other extended family and friends.

Calvin is predeceased by: his Parents: George Henry and Myrtle; Parents-in-law: Harrison and Selina; Sister Gladys: Sister-in-law: Madeline and brother in law Amos.

The family would like to send many thanks to the staff of the Strait of Belle Isle Health Centre and Curtis Memorial Hospital for all the compassionate care during Calvin’s illness and passing.

The funeral Service will take place on Saturday, December 21. 2024 from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Lower Cove, NL at 2:00 PM with Rev. Canon Vernon Short officiating. RICHARDS, MARJORIE

November 15, 1955 - December 21, 2023

In loving memory of our mother, Marjorie Richards, who passed away on December 21, 2023 surrounded by her family.  Marjorie was the devoted wife of Harvey Richards and loving mother of Dwayne (Marsha), Deon (Chrissy) and Michelle (Cody).  She was the most wonderful Nanny to Brendan, Aiden, Jonah, Brayden and McKayla.   

Our mother was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own.  She was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity.  Her kindness was a source of inspiration to us all and she will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives she touched.  Our mother was a woman of strong faith and she instilled in us the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right.  She was a true role model who we will always look up to.  We will never be able to fill the space left behind by her.

Marjorie is pre-deceased by three of her brothers (Dennis, Ralph, Cecil) and one sister (May).  She is survived by her husband, children and siblings: Hubert (Beryl), Ivy (Wallace), Telsie (Leyton), Emma, Leona (John), Douglas.

Visitation to take place from the Bethel Pentecostal Church in St. Anthony on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jeff Elliott officiating. Interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marjorie’s honour to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Mom, you will always be in our hearts and we will never forget you.  We love you so much.  Rest in peace in the arms of Jesus.

FILLIER, NELSON MALCOLM CECIL

February 5, 1947 - December 21, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nelson Malcom Cecil Fillier, age 76, at home with his loving wife by his side on December 21, 2023.

He was the son of the late Gilbert and Bessie (Hopkins) Fillier.

He leaves behind is loving wife of 46 years Elvie Fillier. Daughters, Darlene Hynes (Jim), Darlene Fillier- Aubin (George), Delores Fillier (Corey), and Danette Fillier-Aubin (Adam). Sons Chris Hefford (Heidi) and Dustin Fillier (Rachel). 14 Grandchildren, and 5 Great Grandchildren. His brother Melvin Fillier (Sylvia), and Sister Patricia Brophy (Wayne). Along with a large circle of relatives and friends.

He is predeceased by his parents, brother Murdock Fillier, and twin brothers Gilbert and Theoophilus Fillier.

Nelson was very involved in the community. He was a large part of the Lions club. He worked for KFC in St. Johns for a few years before he returned home to Englee , where he worked at the Englee fish plant for over 30 years. Doing various jobs such as Quality Control and Manager. He was known in years since retirement to drive around the town, and going to Michelle’s for his coffee. Where he talked with everyone who entered and always tormented the girls who worked there and the same at Breen’s.

Cremation has taken place. With the funeral service to take place at Salvation Army Church, Englee, with the date to be determined.

REARDON, GERTRUDE (Gertie)

January 23, 1951 - December 25, 2023

It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Gertie Reardon at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 72 years.

She leaves to mourn, her loving husband, William Reardon; her sons: Paddy (Laurie), Peter (Cathy), Lawrence (Kelly), and Wilfred; her grandchildren: Emily, Ashley, Shayna, Tina, Samantha, Jacob, Nathan, Sol; Special Granddaughter: Shawna; her great-grandchildren: Gabriella, Tori, Jaxson and James; Sisters: Kathleen and Mary; Brothers: Stephen (Anne), Michael (Vivian) as well as her other extended family and friends.

Gertie was predeceased by her parents: Francis and Emma Byrne; young daughter: Rosie; baby son: Francis; friend and mother-in-law: Marie Reardon; Sisters: Edna, Evelyn, Marie, and Marg; Brothers: Ben, Frank, and Fred; as well as many more family and friends.

Cremation has taken place with the funeral service to take place at a later date, to be announced.

August 9, 1951 - December 22, 2023

Una is predeceased by her Husband: Montrose; Parents: Garfield and Margaret; Brothers: Calvin, Donald, and Allen.

Visitation will take place from St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in Anchor Point beginning the evening of Sunday, December 24, 2023 and will continue daily until the funeral service on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Canon Vernon Short officiating. Interment to follow in the New Anglican Cemetery.
