COLES, MINNIE

June 8, 1947 - February 20, 2024

It’s with great sadness that the family of Minnie Coles announce her sudden passing at Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.

Minnie (Caines) Coles was born June 8, 1947 to Henry and Mary Elizabeth (Coates) Caines. She married the love of her life, Albert Jacob Coles on April 18th, 1968. Together they had two children, Melvin Coles (Lisa) and Kimberley White (Andy).

Teaching was her passion, and she retired with a full career at the young age of 45. She was very loving and devoted to her family and friends.

Minnie leaves to mourn her children: Melvin (Lisa), Kimberley (Andy). Grandchildren: Alex (Jasmine), Andrea (Ty), and Reese. Great Grandchildren: Beau and Vaughn. Brother and sister in-laws, countless nieces and nephews, as well as a large circle of family and friends.

She is predeceased by her husband Albert Jacob Coles, Parents: Mary Elizabeth and Henry Caines, Siblings: Nathaniel, Dulcie and Melvin Caines.

Cremation will be taking place with the funeral service and burial to be announced at a later date.

COLES, IVY

It is with great sadness the family of Ivy Coles announce her passing at Flowers Cove on March 17-2023.

Ivy has joined her loving husband, Roland at eternal peace.  They were loved and supported in life by their children Billy (Tama) and Bobby (Amy). Their pride and joy was their granddaughter, Liliana Barbara.

Ivy and Rol enjoyed life together cutting wood, ski-doo and ATV riding, spending time at their cabin at Green Island Lake, and visiting their children Billy in Ottawa and Bobby in Pittsburgh.  Their nightly routine included a Facetime chat with Lily to get a full account of her daily activities.

Ivy was a devoted member of the Sandy Cove Lions Club and spent many hours volunteering her time.  She enjoyed her time working with Canada Post, since she got to chat with the whole community.

Ivy will be remembered with fond memories by her sons Billy (Tama), Bobby (Amy), granddaughter Liliana, Mother Hazel Genge; special nieces Collette and Annette; exceptional care givers and sister-in-law Barbara Genge and Harris Genge; Sisters Patsy (Roland) Way; Elaine (John) Noseworthy; Marjorie (Wycliffe) Rose; Dorcas (Nelson) White; Pamela (Peter) Hrdlicka; Maxine (Cyril) Genge and one brother Harvey Genge.  In Laws Eva (Garfield)Way; Eliza (late Edmund); Sarah (late Kirby); Mona (Stanley) and special nephew Melvin (Sonya) Way.  Also, a large circle of nephew, nieces, and friends.

Ivy was predeceased by her husband of 49 years Roland Coles on Feb 26-2023; her father William Genge; her father-in-law Roland Coles Sr; sisters in laws Dora; Margaret (Nelson) White; Alma (Gerald) Coles.

A public viewing will take place at St. Anthony at the Anglican Church from 10:00 – 12:00 AM on Monday, March 20, 2023.  Everyone welcome. A funeral for both Ivy and Roland will take place on 29th July 2023 at the Sandy Cove Anglican Church.

COLES, HAZARETH

It is with great sadness that the family of Hazareth Coles announce her peaceful passing on March 1st, 2023 at the age of 82 years, at Curtis Memorial Hospital. Hazareth was born April 3, 1940 to Susan and John Williams in Current Island Newfoundland. She married Archibald Coles on August 1957 and moved to Sandy Cove where she spent the majority of her life. She leaves to mourn daughter Beatrice (Boyce), son Ivan (Betty), Grand Daughters, Susie Eileen ( Hiram), Shana (Earl), Bianca (Jeremy) and Dominique.
Great grandchildren Mitchel and Mackenzie; Brothers Stanley (Bessie), James (Cornelia); sisters Virginia, Cora (Melvin), Ruby (Gerald), Edith (Kirby); daughters-in-law Daphne as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Hazareth was predeceased by her husband Archibald, daughter Susie Eileen; sons John Brian, Archibald Jr, Alonzo; parents John and Susan as well as parents-in-law George and Beatrice. The Family would like to say a special thank you to all the staff at Ivy Durley Place and Curtis Memorial. Visitation will be held at St. Thomas' Anglican Church in Sandy Cove on Monday March 6th and  Tuesday March 7th, with the Family service being held on Tuesday March 7th in the evening. COLES, ROLAND JR.

May 27, 1948 - February 26, 2023

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved Roland “Rollie” Coles of Sandy Cove, Newfoundland at Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital on February 26, 2023 at the age of 74 years.

Roland is survived by his loving wife Ivy (Genge); his children, Billy (Tama), Bobby (Amy) and granddaughter Liliana, 5 sisters Eva (Garfield), Eliza, Sara, Barbara (Harris), Mona (Stanley), and special nephew Melvin (Sonya) as well as beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Roland was predeceased by his father Roland Sr., his mother Miriam, his sisters Dora, Margaret, Alma and father in law William Genge.

There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to Roland’s nieces Annette & Colette. They were like daughters to him and they honoured their uncle by selflessly supporting him and our family in his greatest time of need.

Roland touched the lives of so many people with his generosity, kindness, and friendship. He will truly be missed and will never, ever, be forgotten.

He enjoyed the cabin life, moose hunting trips, and also enjoyed coaching his boys playing hockey. He never went anywhere without Ivy by his side, and they cherish many memories that will last forever.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date for family and friends to honour the beautiful life and soul of our Rollie Coles.

COLES, WINSTON

February 11, 1944 - February 25, 2022

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Winston Coles announce his passing at the John M Gray Centre in St. Anthony, NL on the morning of February 25, 2022 at the age of 78 years. Winston was a kind and proud family man, a loving and devoted husband, an absolutely amazing father and grandfather. He was most happiest when he was surrounded by his family, friends, children and four legged friends and if it was Christmas time all the more better.

Leaving to mourn with cherished memories as his wife Eileen; Daughter Rhonda; Son, Kirby Jr. (Julie); Granddaughter, Jessica (Sandi); Grandson, Luke; Sister, Vernita (Coy), and a huge circle of family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Leslie Sr. and Edna Coles; Twin Sister, Clementina; Sisters, Thamsie, Millie and Judy; Brothers, Stedman Sr., Gerald Sr and Kirby Sr.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of out loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Thelma Coates, at St. Anthony Hospital on September 9, 2021 at the age of 94 years. She was the last child born to Abraham, and Elizabeth Dredge of Black Duck Cove.
She leaves to mourn with loving and lasting memories her Children, Gerald (Ruby), Betty (Bob), Marilyn (Whyman); Daughters-in-law, Ivy and Hazel; Grandchildren, Gerald (Lorraine), Dean (Madonna), Jennifer (John), Carlyann, Quenten (Sherri), Ricky, Miranda (Sebastien), Robbie (Deanna), Gregory, Scott (Kaitlin); Great-grandchildren, Tyler, Renee, Connor, Skylar, Sharla, Laura, Willie, Laci, Lucien, Ariane, Bobby, Blake, Jada, Gemma and Carly. She will also be remembered by, Sister-in-law, Gladys Dredge and Special Friend, Rosie Mclean.
Thelma was predeceased by her husband, Willie and Sons, Harrison and Melvin; Brothers, William, Walter, John, Roland, Abraham; Sisters, Blanche, Cinderella, and Kittie.
She loved her family very much. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always overjoyed whenever they came to visit her, always making sure she had pies and other treats to give them. She lived a simple life, she never travelled far from her home in Eddies Cove. She was a stay at home mom who worked hard to earn and provide for her family, making sure she did the best she could for them. After her husbands passing she moved to the Ivy Durley Place in Flowers Cove. She liked living at the home and we would like to thank the staff for taking such good care of her and making her feel so comfortable. Her last few months were spent at the hospital in St. Anthony, we would like tot hank the health care workers for attending to her every need and all the kindness they had shown her while she was there- thanks everyone.
Visitation to take place from St. Andrews Anglican Church in Lower Cove on Sunday, September 12, 2021. The funeral will be held on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Rev. COLES, BARBARA CAMILLA (Cammy)

June 10, 1974 – June 28, 2020

born June 10, 1974, passed away peacefully with her Mom and Dad by her side after a long struggle of different health issues at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on June 29, 2020 at the age of 46. Cammy loved everyone, especially her Mom and Dad, 2 Sisters Joanne and Jaylynn, and Madi, Kate, Luke, Nate, and Shea. She was very outgoing, loved to party and enjoyed her darts. She will be missed by all who knew her. She leaves to mourn her parents, Philomena and Abe; Sisters, Joanne (Floyd), Jaylynn (Brandon); Nieces, Madi and Kate; Nephews, Luke, Nate, and Shea; Aunt Ivy, Uncle Wade and Family; Aunt Cornelia, Uncle Jim and Family; Uncle George, Aunt Barb and Family; Cynthia, Gord, and Family; Bill, Evelyn and Family; very special friend Zita Rumbolt and a large circle of extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her Grandparents, Elias and Rita Coles as well as her little cousin Ryan Coles. The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital, St. Claire’s Hospital and the Health Science Center for taking good care of Cammy during her stays. Also a big thank you to K. M. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our loving Son, Brother, and Uncle, Wade Coles at his residence in Savage Cove, NL on May 17, 2020, age 67 years. He was the third of eight children born to Randell and Edna Coles on Jan 7th, 1953. Left to mourn, with loving and lasting memories, are mother Edna, bothers and sisters, Bob [Betty], Sheila [Leslie], Trudy [Gilbert], Lloyd [Trudy], Sharon [Tony] and Anne and brother-in-law Jim Furey. He was a very special uncle to Janine (Chris), Rodney (Melanie), Joanne, Paula, Darcy (Deanna), Miranda (Sebastien), Robbie (Deanna), Kaitlin, Kobe, Tony, Chantelle, Tori and Kaydon, and great uncle to Kathleen, Jane, James, Ella, Ashton, Ralph, Parker, Lucien, Ariane, Bobby and Blake. He will also be remembered fondly by aunts Hazel Way, Sarah Way and Sybil Woodward. Wade was pre-deceased by his father Randell and sister Irene. Wade had a very active lifestyle, he loved the outdoors and spent many hours walking and shovelling snow. He also loved riding on his ski-doo and cutting wood, but his greatest love was fishing. He was a very responsible, dedicated and hardworking man. He fished with his cousins Roland and Darryl Way on their draggers for 45 years. We are sure they will miss him very much. The family would like to thank everyone who helped in anyway to make this difficult time a little more bearable. It was really appreciated. We would like to thank the Port Saunders RCMP, Flower’s Cove paramedics and Kerry M Fillatre Funeral Home for responding so quickly to our call on that dreadful evening. Your professionalism and know-how in handling this traumatic situation and kindness to us was very comforting and we will be forever grateful. Many thanks for a job well done. A private viewing was held on Friday, May 22, 2020. Cremation followed with the funeral service to be held at the Savage Cove Cemetery at a later date.
