Dorothy May Strugnell was born to Andrew and Ida Strugnell on July 8, 1949. She married Winston Albert Clarke on November 4, 1965 with much love built a home and raised four children in Port Hope Simpson, Labrador. Family was all-important to them, second only to their devotion to their Lord and Master. Their home was always filled with family and friends. The family spent most weekends, holidays and special occasions at the Clarke Cabin, where food, laughter, fishing, hunting, boil-ups and many games of cards took place. Dorothy was very active in many areas of her community and church. Always lending her hand to any cause or need that arose. She was an avid crafter, and was known for her quilts and sewing. She lost her first love on November 30, 2012 after a long battle with sickness that had her by his side in the hospital for months at a time. On February 4, 2015 she was lucky enough to find love for the second time and with much excitement and celebration married George Rowe. They only got to spend five short years together, but they made them wonderful years, spending time at the cabin, fishing, berry picking, family gatherings and visiting family on the island portion of our province. Left with many wonderful memories: Her loving husband, George, Son’s: William (Cory), Irving (Michelle), Winston. Daughter: Thelma (Andrew) . 11 Grandchildren: Terry (Sarah), Brett (Miranda), Innes (Cara), Ronnie (Trisha), Daniel (Nicole), Curtis (Michelle), Clarke (Tana), Cory, Bobbi-Marie (Darren), Nicco (Megan), Eli. 10 Great Grandchildren: Ella, Isaiah, Jayla, Damon, Jennifer, Joey, Daxton, Colten, Anna, Jackson. Step-family: Wanda (Alex) Parr, Doreen (William) Parr, Tony (Effie) Penney, Kevin (Joyce) Penney, Trent( Christine) Parr, Tony (Norma) Parr, Grant (Kyla) Parr, Grace (Dave) Parr & families.
CLARKE, BERNARD WILLIAM

With admiration but with heavy hearts and great sadness that the Clarke family announce the passing of Bernard (Bern) William Clarke of Croque, NL on January 2nd 2019 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital at the age of 80 years. Bernard was loved by anyone who knew and touched by many in his 80 years!. He leaves behind to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 57 years Nellie; Sons: Tony (wife Julia), Brenden (wife Loretta), Kenneth (wife Hilda), Melvin (wife Tracy); Daughters: Geraldine, Marcella, Kimberley, Grandchildren: Gene (Wife Tiffany), Colette, Chelsea, Sheena, Jonah, Robbie, Cheyanne, Corina, Brooke; Great Grandchildren: Calvin, Kinley, Hailey, Christopher, Emily, Miguel, Riley, Nicolas, Natalie; Brothers: Frank, Leonard, Terry, Kevin; Sisters: Maude, Millicent, Bernadette, Maureen, Brenda as well as many more nieces, nephews, Cousins and Many Friends. The Clarke family would like to send a special thank you to staff at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital who showed so much care for him. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2018 at 1:00 pm from Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church in Croque, NL. with Fr. George officiating. Interment to follow. CLARKE, MARY LAURA
Passed away in to peaceful rest at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on Sept. 17, 2012, Mrs. Mary Laura Clarke of Port aux Choix, NL, in her 64th year. Left to mourn her loss are her mother Alice Sexton; her sons Roy (Diane), Robert, and Austin (Fatmia); her daughters Ivy Sexton (Lorne), and Peggy Clarke (Brian); her brothers Anthony, Ambrose (Gertie), John (Ida), Gerald (Darlene), Eugene (Cathy), and Philip (Isabelle); sisters Margaret Clarke, Ann (Cliff) Caines, and Maureen (Fred) Bromley. Visitation took place at St. Theresa’s Church in Port au Choix from where the funeral service took place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20 with Fr. Lee Laney officiating. Burial followed in the Port au Choix Roman Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, funeral director.
