CARTER, FREDERICK JOHN

April 25,1947 - June 25, 2023

Passed away after a lengthy illness Frederick John Carter of Midland Ontario formerly of St. Anthony at the age of 76 years.

Fred was a gentle soul with a zest for life and a sense of humour like no other, He will be greatly missed.

Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his brother Woodrow(Joan), his brother Melvin(Debbie), and his sister Ellen(Elvis), sister in law Susan Carter. Also left to mourn are his nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews whom he loved dearly.

Predeceased by his parents Eli and Marcella Carter, his brother Marshall, and his sister Irene and her husband Elmore Bemister.

In the words of Fred "my name is Frederick John, I'll take the wheel barrow and dodge on."

Cremation has taken place with the funeral service to take place from the Salvation Army Citadel in St. Anthony on Monday July 24, 2023 at 11:00am with Majors Anthony Stokes and Beverly Dart-Stokes officiating. Inurnment to follow in the old Salvation Army Cemetery on the hill. All are welcome.

CARTER, CHARLES

Charlie was born October 3, 1936, to Frederick and Mary Carter, in Great Brehat. He passed away November 12, 2022 at the age of 86. He married Minnie Cassell of Roddickton in 1986. She passed away. He then married Minnie Peyton in November 2006. She passed away December 27, 2011. Since February 2015, Rowena Dredge from Black Duke Cove has been his partner.

Charlie was a fisherman for many years. He also worked with the Grenfell Mission and at the Viking Mall as Caretaker/Maintenance. He could build a boat, house or garbage box, all you had to do was ask. He loved to be busy and kept busy, up to the week of his passing. Charlie was super helpful to family, friends and community members. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He is predeceased by parents, Frederick and Mary Carter, Wives, Minnie Cassell- Carter and Minnie Peyton-Carter; Brothers, John , Samuel and George; Sisters, Mary Jane, Caroline, Rosana, Elsie, Annie, Olive.

Left to mourn: Partner, Rowena Dredge; Step daughters, Wanda Hedderson (Gloss), Judy Best ( Pearce), Nieces: Donna Carter (Morley), Joyce Bessey ( Morris), Mae Carter (Colin), Joanne Ginn(Peter), Linda Hillier (Woodrow); Nephews: Fred (Glenice), West (Denise), David (Lisa), Lorne (Adell), Jim Reid(Alice) David Reid. Plus many more Step Nieces and Nephews.

Visitation is being held at the funeral home in St. Anthony from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm on Monday November 14th 2022, with the funeral service being held on Tuesday November 15th at 2pm from the Salvation Army Church in St. Anthony. burial will follow the service at the St. Lunaire-Griquet Salvation Army Cemetery. Majors Beverly and Anthony Stokes are officiating, funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.

CARTER, JESSIE

Passed away March 17th, 2018 at the age of 81 years. Jessie was born November 26, 1936 to Myrtle and Alex Simms in St. Anthony Bight. She was the oldest of 7 children. She moved to Great Brehat at a young age to be with the love of her life, John Carter. They were married on November 20th, 1956. They were blessed with 7 children, 15 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Jessie kept busy over the years caring for her family and working alongside her husband John at whatever work needed to be done, whether it was fishing, cutting wood, or tending to the garden. She will be dearly missed by a large circle of family and friends. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memoires her Children; Fred (Glenice), Dave (Lisa), Lorne (Adell), Wes (Denise), Joyce (Morris), Mae (Colin), Donna (Morley); Brother Hayward Simms; Sisters Elsie, Bessie (Edgar), Juanita; brothers-in-law Charles (Rowena), Keith; Sisters-in-law Olive, Rita; plus 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jessie was predeceased by her husband John; Parents Alex and Myrtle Simms; Mother-in-law Mary Carter; Brother and Sister Ross Simms and Nellie Simms; Brothers-in-law Elijah Parrill, Gordon Powell, Don Reid; Sisters-in-law Elizabeth (Minnie) and Minnie. Visitation was held from Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home in St. Anthony until the Funeral on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 2:00 pm from the St. Anthony United Church with Rev.
