SIMMS, ARCHIBALD

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Archibald Simms announces his passing on June 16, 2023 at St. Anthony Curtis Memorial Hospital, at the age of 84. Archibald was born in Roddickton, NL to William & Loretta Simms on January 5, 1939. He was a Lumberjack, Truck Driver, Bus Driver, Janitor, & Emergency Medical Responder. His final job upon retirement was a EMR at the Roddickton White Bay Health Centre which he loved dearly.

Archibald loved the Workplace but his strongest devotion was to the Gospel & his Church, where he played his accordion and sang every chance he could for 53 years. Since March 1961, he was a devoted member and musician of Calvary Pentecostal Temple in Roddickton where he gave his Heart & Life to Christ.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his Wife of 62 Years: Pearl (Earle) Simms; Sons: Dwane (Judy), Oral (Marlyce), Brian (Renee); Daughters: Viva (Lester), Janice (Archie); Grandchildren: Stephanie, Melissa, Tyler, Chad, Nicole, Terri, Valarie; Great Grandchildren: Zackery, Cameron, Hyden, Shayle, Jessa, Emmy, Brooks; Sisters: Ruby Swain, Madeline Newman. Archibald will be sadly missed by a large circle of relatives and close friends.

He is predeceased by Daughter Paulette, Parents William & Loretta Simms, Brothers Melvin Simms, Francis Simms, Sister Leah (Simms) Lidstone.

Visitation will take place at Calvary Pentecostal Temple on Monday June19th & Tuesday June 20th from 2pm-4pm & 7pm-9pm each day. The funeral service will be held at Calvary Pentecostal Temple, Roddickton, NL on Wednesday June 21st at 2pm with Pastor Mark Locke officiating. Interment to follow.

PATEY, ARCHIBALD CLAYTON

August 13, 1932 – April 13, 2023

Archibald Patey of Quirpon passed away peacefully in the presence of his family at the John M. Gray Centre on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at the age of 90 years.

Arch was born in Quirpon on August 13, 1932 to Moses and Clara Patey. On May 8, 1953, he married Maisie Randell of Hooping Harbour, where he was teaching at the time. A year later, they moved to Quirpon, where they raised their family. He will be dearly missed.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children, Janet, Linda Simms (Bruce), Scott (Gwen), David (Laurie), Ivan (Maxine), Nancy Elliott (Martin), Tony (Kathie), Shirley (Kingsley), and Darrell, 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn his sister Blanche Strickland (Ronald) and his in-laws, Edna Randell, Frank Randell, Ivy Cassell and Arthur Noseworthy, as well as a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Maisie, his son, Teddy, his parents, Moses and Clara, his siblings, Louisa Noseworthy, Gideon, Jacob, Una Roberts, Greta, Clarence and Lloyd, and his son-in-law, Paul Patey.

His family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of the John M. Gray Centre for his care over the past couple of years.

Visitation to take place from the Salvation Army Church in St. Anthony on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at 2:00 with Majors Anthony Stokes and Beverly Dart-Stokes officiating. Interment to follow in the Community Cemetery in Quirpon.

COLES, ARCHIBALD

Passed away on January 28th, 2018 at Charles S Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 82 years. He leaves to mourn- thankful for a lifetime of memories- his Wife Hazareth; Daughter Beatrice (Boyce); Son Ivan (Betty); Grandchildren Susie Eileen (Hiram), Shana, Bianca (Jeremy), Dominique; Great-grandchildren Mitchel, Mackenzie; Sisters Lourie, Mabel, Irene; Brother Claude (Lillian); Brothers in law Stanley (Bessie), James (Cornelia); Sisters in law Virginia, Cora (Melvin), Ruby (Gerald), Edith (Kirby); Daughters in law Daphne, Beatrice; special friend Maria Gould as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Archibald was predeceased by his Daughter Susie Eileen; Sons John Brian, Archibald Jr, Alonzo; Parents George and Beatrice; Sister Minnie; Brothers Harold, Jacob, Lush; as well as parents in law Susie and John. Visitation was held from St. Thomas’ Anglican Church in Sandy Cove from where the funeral was held on Thursday, February 1st, 2018 with Rev. Omar Reyes officiating. Interment followed.
