MOORES, ABRAHAM CHARLES SR.

May 13, 1936 - December 29, 2019

Abraham (Abe) Moores was born in in Flowers Cove to Stephen and Selina Moores. He grew up here and except for a few years in St. Anthony he lived his whole life in Flowers Cove. He worked as the ambulance driver / maintenance worker for Flowers Cove Health Centre, where he retired in 1993 after 36 years of service. On August 20, 1954 he married Theresa Walsh and they were married for 64 years until her death this past year. Abe was an active man who enjoyed the outdoors from cutting wood, hunting (he recently got his moose), fishing and spending time at the cabin. And we can’t forget how much he enjoyed playing bingo. He leaves to mourn his son Dudley (Phyllis), granddaughters Natasha (Chad), Dede (Ern), Great grandchildren Colby, Tori, Jada and Jaxon. He also leaves to mourn his sisters-in-law Margaret, Marion, Margaret, Evelyn, Susie, Anne and brothers-in-law Tommy and Jody as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Abe was predeceased by his wife Theresa, parents Stephen and Selina Moores, daughter Baby Gladys, brothers Eli, William and George, sisters Rose and Sarah Fanny and sister in law Larolla. The family would like to thank everyone for their calls, thoughts, prayers, visits and assistance during this difficult time. Thank you as well to the staff at Strait of Belle Isle Health Centre in Flowers Cove, Straits Fire Department, Fillatres Funeral Home, as well as all who have provided help during this time. PARRILL, ELSIE MAE

April 10, 1942 - December 29, 2019

Elsie Parrill (Simms) was born on April 10, 1942 in St. Anthony Bight, NL, and she married Elijah Parrill on March 12, 1964. They had 2 children; Triffie and Wade, and three grandchildren; Mikaela, Robby and Caitlyn. Elsie was employed at Curtis Hospital for 30 years, where she befriended many co-workers and patients over the years. most of her working years were on the obstetrical floor. Elsie enjoyed spending quality time with children and grandchildren. her best friend was her husband, and they spent many hours doing thing they enjoyed. her kindness, mild manner, patience and love for her family will be remembered by all.

The Funeral Service took place at the St. Anthony United Church in St. Anthony at 2:00pm on January 2nd, 2020 with Rev. Charles (Gus) Pendelton officiating, Burial followed the service at the Fishing Point United Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. As well, we, the family of the late Elsie Parrill would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to all who helped in any way to ease the sorrow during the passing of a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. PENNEY, OLIVE

Passed away peacefully at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial hospital on the 31st of December, 2019. She will be sadly missed by her lifelong friend and husband of 64 years, Tom, her son Jim Penney (Catherine), her daughter Debbie Anderson (Morgan), her three grandchildren, Gail Sexton(Mason), Jeffrey Anderson and Jonathan Anderson, her great granddaughter Ember Sexton, her brother Lloyd Tucker (Clara), stepsister Mary Kinsella (Gilbert), stepbrother Ford Pilgrim (Susan), brothers -in-law Roy Penney, Paul Penney (Becky), and Stewart Payne and a large circle of family and friends including her furry friends Jessie and Raya.

Predeceased: Father and mother, Gordon Tucker and Julie Ann Pilgrim, step-father Eric Pilgrim, father-in-law Clement Penney Sr., sisters in-law Selma Payne and Ivy Pilgrim.

Her memorial service was held at the St. Anthony United Church in St. Anthony at 11am on the 3rd of January, 2020 with the arch bishop Stewart Payne officiating. GENGE, ELIZABETH

Passed away at Western Regional Memorial Hospital on the 26th of December, 2019, Mrs. Elizabeth Genge of Deadmen’s Cove NL, at the age of 72. Elizabeth Leaves to mourn, with fond and loving memories; her daughter Julia, grandchildren Gabby, Willie and Luc, Sisters Joyce (Gaydon) and Clara (Robert) and their families, Brothers Stanley (Mona) and Donald (Agnes) and their Families, Sisters in Law Sue, Shelia, and Sadie and Their Families, Brother in law Cyril and family. as well as many special friends whom took great care of her over the years. She was predeceased by her husband Charlie, Son in law Wayne, Parents Maria Jane and Steward and brother Clifford. Visitation took place at the Anglican Church in Anchor Point, from which the funeral service was held on the 30th of December at 2:00pm Followed by burial in the Church cemetery with Deacon Rev. Passed peacefully away at the John M Gray LTC facility in his 90th year, on the 15th day of December. Sam will be forever loved and remembered by his sister Mary Genge-bowers, sons Glosson (Elizabeth), Michael (Paula), daughter Denise (Eddie) Goose Bay, grandchildren Michael Jr, Jeremy (Hailey), Nicholina (Stefan), Nicholas, Dylan, Justin and great grandchildren Liam, Kale and Emit as well as extended family & friends. Pre-deceased by beloved wife Margaret, children James & Sharon, & parents Thomas & Edith Gould, Brothers; Andrew, Willis, George, Harrison, Isaac-John, Sisters; Naomi, Eliza, Rita & Johanna. Family service will be held at St. Boniface Church in Bear Cove, Tuesday, Dec 17th at 7:00pm followed by the funeral service on Wednesday Dec 18th @ 11:00am with Deacon Vernon Short officiating. ROSE, HENRY THOMAS

July 4, 1953 – December 9, 2019

Passed away December 9, 2019 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony surrounded by loving family at the age of 66 years. Henry grew up in St. Carols where he went to school and played until he moved to St. Anthony as a teen. It was there, fishing with his father that he met the love of his life, Verna in Harbour Deep. In 1973 they were wed and blessed with two children. Shortly after the birth of his second child, he began working at the St. Anthony Airport where he stayed for 40 plus years. Through his work at the airport, he came to know and help many people across the province and abroad. He made a lot of friends, and was a friendly and familiar face to those travelling. In his spare time, he loved fishing, hunting, and loved being in his shed, woodworking. He was a talented handyman and carpenter, he frequently did renovations for his children and made lots of patio furniture and other items. His other passion was his grandchildren. He loved to see them flourish in their talents, whether it be playing guitar and singing, or playing hockey. Henry was a talkative and friendly man, he like to torment and was guaranteed to go visit his two children, Corey and Treena every night as well as send both a daily text message. He is forever loved and mourned by, his wife of 46 years, Verna; Son, Corey (Charmaine); Daughter, Treena (Trent); Mother, Margaret; Brother, Wallace (Edith); 3 Grandchildren, Dilan, Alisha, and Caden; Nieces, Teena (Larr), Nikki (Denise); Nephew, Robin (Marcella) and a large circle of family and friends. Henry was predeceased by his father, Isaac; Grandparents, Ernest and Rita Hill, and Thomas and Elizabeth Rose as well as his Aunts and Uncles. Visitation to take place at Kerry M. BLAKE, PATSY ELOS (nee Kean)

Passed away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on December 4, 2019 at the age of 79 years.Patsy was born and raised in Quirpon. She married the love of her life, Ross and together they made a life in Quirpon with their eight children. Patsy was an incredibly strong and determined woman. She was widowed at a young age but that did not hinder her from focusing her efforts on raising her children. After retiring from the fish plant in St. Anthony, in recent years Patsy spent much of her time with her family in Alberta. She loved being able to spend time with her family and joining in on their many adventures. She had a zest for life and lived each day to the fullest, even during her time of illness. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her dearly. Patsy leaves to mourn with fond memories, daughters - Maxine (Ivan), Brenda (Lloyd), Bernice (Cory), Violet (Jason), Emma (Stan), Sheila (Jason), Sons - Claude and Shawn (Fawn). Sisters- Bernice (Stafford), Marcie, Mary, Peggy (Ambrose), Pamela (Gerald), Brothers - Vernon (Marie) and Christopher (Terry), Sisters-in-Law - Marcie and Yvonne, 12 Grandchildren, 7 Great-Grandchildren, special friend - Sharon and many extended family members and friends. CULL, GILBERT

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gilbert Cull announces his passing on November 30, 2019 at Roddickton, at the age of 78.

Gilbert was born in Roddickton to Agustus and Janette Cull on October 3rd, 1941. He was a Lumberjack of the best kind, cutting more wood than the Timber Jack could haul from him. He worked for several companies, including Bowaters, Canada Bay Lumber, Chester Dawe, and finally ending up with the Weir Brothers, where in September of 1986 he was critically injured when a tree fell on him. A very quiet and gentle man, he was dearly loved and respected by his family and community. Well known for his faithfulness and Christian values, he was an anchor to his family that could easily secure the biggest ship in the strongest gale.

He will be sadly missed by wife Victoria Cull (Weir); daughters Dorothy, Ivy (Tony), Inga (Travis), Thirza (Robert); Sons Fletcher and Tobias (Brenda); Brothers Calvin (Betty), Fremonder (Lucy), Valance (Betty) and Boyd (Elsie); Sisters Audry (Richard) and Lillian (Harold); 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; as well as a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by daughter Ilene, parents Agustus and Janette Cull, brother Alexander, sister Rita, daughter-in-law Roxie and son-in-law Roger.

Visitation will be held at the Calvary Pentecostal Temple on Sunday, Dec 1st from 7 to 9 PM and Monday, Dec 2nd, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec 3rd at 2:00 P.M, with Pastor Mark Locke officiating. Burial will follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M.
