PILGRIM, HOWARD

Howard Pilgrim of Anchor Point, NL passed peacefully away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on January 6, 2016, at the age of 86 years. Howard was a well loved man by all his family and friends. He was a great fisherman and a great supporter of his family.  He dearly loved his Children, Grandchildren, Grandchildren, and Great-Grandchildren- to him they were the best. He will be forever loved and greatly missed. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Susan; Sons Lewis, Darrol, and Ronald; Daughters Merina Genge, Barbara Chambers, Gwen Sheppard, and Jennifer Pilgrim; Sisters Dorcas (Lawrence) Guinchard and Nancy (Ivan) Chambers; and Brother Roland (Joyce) Way. He was predeceased by his Parents Alfred and Constance Pilgrim; Sons Lewis and Elijah Pilgrim; Brothers Bruce (Jane) Way, Henry (Mary) Way; and Sister Effie (George) Rose. Visitation was held at St. Matthew's Anglican Church in Anchor Point from where the funeral service was held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 9th, 2016 with Rev. Omar Reyes officiating. HOPKINS, PERCY WILLIAM ROBERT

Percy was pron on oct. 10, 1936 to Tamer and Jonas Hopkins. he was on e of fourteen children. Percy met and married Rowena Hancock of Roddickton on May 31, 1958, together they had six children; Patsy,Wade Eugene, Burt, Terry and Larry.  Percy began as a young boy fishing with his father and after his fathers retirement he fished with his late brother Randolph, Son Wade and Nephew Harry. He loved moose watching and moose hunting. he enjoyed the things in nature and he also loved to go for his car rides. Percy loved gardening in summertime, his plants, flowers and his cabbage, beets, carrots and rhubarb. Percy loved Christmas, the lights and the Tree. the Lord took him home on his Favorite time of year. Percy passed away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 26th of December. left to mourn his loss are his wife Rowena, daughter patsy (Hardy) Fillier of Englee, sons Wade (Susie) and Eugene (Donna) of Englee, burt (Kim) of Spruce Grove, Alberta Terry (Bonnie) of Cormack, Larry (Maureen) of Edmonton Alberta.  his brothers Easu (Josephine) of englee, Wilbert (Joan) of C.B.S., Wilfred (Regina) of Englee, sister Emma (Harvey) Compton of prince Albert Sask., Olive (Allen) Compton of Roddickton, Marguerite (Leslie) Canning of Englee, Tina (Terry) Peddle of Grand Falls and Betty (Gordon) Rice of Main Brook as well as his sister in laws Anne and Melvina Hopkins of Englee, brother in law Ray parsons of st. johns and 19 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a large circle of friends and relatives. Percy was predeceased by his parent Jonas and Tamar, Grand sons Stephen, sisters Louise Squires, Effie Sweetland and Kate Parsons and Brothers Roy and Randolph. visitation was held at the Salvation Army Church in Englee. BURT, CECIL FRANCIS

Cecil Francis Burt was born in St. Anthony on October 9, 1930 to Winnifred and James Burt. He has one son (Roy) and helped raise 6 step children. Left with their memories are Son Roy (Joyce), Granddaughter Leanne, 6 step-children – Albert (Jo), Gary (Irene), Dorothy (Dennis), Gus (Cora), Ern, Benson (Daphne), Effie McLean & family as well as a large circle of other relatives & friends. He is predeceased by his first wife Dora (Simms) Burt and his second wife Dorothy (Hancock) Burt, his parents, Brother Reuben Burt and Sisters Minnie and Mary-Ann. Visitation was held at the funeral home in St. Anthony after which the funeral service was held on Monday December 28th, 2015 at 2:00pm with Major Denzel Baggs officiating. James J. Bushey

James Joseph Bushey of Sandy Cove, NL passed peacefully away at Sir Rufus Guinchard Health Centre on the December 2, 2015, at the age of 89 years. Jim leaves to mourn with fond memories his Sons: Larry (Melinda), Terry (Annie), Glenn (Mary), Roddney (Tina); Grandchildren: Owen, Martina, Ashton, Craig (Nicole), Allison; Great-grandchildren: Daniel, Ryann, Timothy; Sister Kathleen; Brother Rick; Sisters-in-law: Jessie, Patricia, Belinda (Jimmy); Brothers-in-law: Wilga, Gaydon (Joyce); many Nephews and Nieces; Family Friend Trina Cox; and special friend Wallace Maynard. He was predeceased by his wife Ima; mother Martina; father Emil; brothers: Lewis (Rose), Leslie, and Benjamin. The family received friends Friday through Sunday at St. Thomas Anglican church in Sandy Cove from where the funeral took place at 2:00pm on Sunday, December 6, 2015 with Rev. CHAULK, CHRIS DAVID JOHN

Chris was born in Deer Lake on November 10th 1957. In 1974 he moved to St. Anthony to live with his brother Gary and his wife Madonna. It was in St. Anthony that he met the love of his life Gertie and together they had one daughter Kristie. They married on November 20th, 1976. Chris worked at Varies Jobs until 1982, when he went to work with Maurice’s Service Center as a Truck driver. He remained there for 33 years. He served with the local fire dept. for 35years in various rolls. Most of all, Chris enjoyed spending time at his camper fishing, hunting, picking berries and enjoying nightly campfires with his wife Gertie and buddies Stan and Donna. He was a man of few words but he loved to sit and listen to others with a grin. Left to mourn the loss of Chris form their lives are his wife Gertie, Daughter Kristie, Fur Buddie Jack, Brothers Gary (Madonna) and Phillip, sister Cora (Frank), sister in laws Audrey (Joe), Donna (Stan), Linda (Rafe), Rosemary, Nieces and nephews Dawn (Eddie); Mike (Nivose); Jerry (Tina); Melissa; Dan; Julia (Guy), Chris (Tammy); Rochelle (Andy); Cory (Shelley); Deana (Rol); Gina (Brad); Sandy (Ivan); Heather (Trevor); and Families, as well as a large group of Family and Friends. Though a young man, Chris lived to see the passing of his mother Brada, Father Sterling, Brother Tony, and Mother in law Mary Fillier, Big Nan Lavinia Fillier and Brother in Law Wilbourne Fillier. Visitation was held at the Funeral home in St. Anthony on Tuesday November 24th, from which the funeral service was held on Wednesday November 25th with Major Baggs Officiating. MANUEL, MARGARET EDGELEY

Margaret Manuel

Born to John and Elizabeth Parrill on August 7, 1922 in Pines Cove, Newfoundland. She moved to Eddies Cove East at a young age. She met the love of her life, John Ross, and together they had five children. Margaret E. Manuel passed away peacefully on November 20, 2015 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital. She leaves to mourn her sons: Colin (Donna), Gary, Boyd (Marilyn), Shawn (Mary); daughter: Madonna (Ernest); grandchildren: Lana, Chad, Kent, Brad, Ryan, Matthew, Jamie, Sarah, Justin, Demetre, Brenden, Isabella; 11 great-grandchildren; brother: John Parrill along with several nieces and nephews and a large circle of family and friends. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, John Ross; mother and father Elizabeth and John Parrill; Sisters Virge, Bessy, Liza, Goldie; and brothers Albert, and Darius (Roy). PATEY, FLOYD ANTHONY

Floyd Anthony Patey was born in Grehat Brehat on July 25th, 1935 to William and Jesse Patey. It was here in Brehat that hew grew up.In the 1950’s he met Pearl Cull of Great Brehat and they married on February 10th, 1959. Together Pearl and Floyd raised two daughters, Linda and Alice, and two grandsons, Deon and Leon. While Floyd and Pearl raised their family in Great Brehat he provided for his family by fishing for a living along side and side-by-side with his brother Joseph.
Floyd leaves to mourn his wife Pearl of 57 years; daughters Linda (Willie) and Alice (Boyce); grandsons Deon (Nadine) and Leon (Catherine); three great-great grandchildren, sisters Julie and Dorcas; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; four brother in laws Ronald, Norman, Pearce and Carol; one sister in law Ethel Ward and a large circle of family and friends.Floyd is pre-deceased by his parents William and Jesse; brothers Samuel and Joseph; sisters Shirley, Emily and Alice; brothers in law Wallace Ward and Wallace Cull. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral Home in St. Anthony. The funeral service took place at the United Church in St. Anthony at 2:00pm on Monday, November 23, 2015. Officiated by Rev. PITTMAN, CHRISTOPHER JOSEPH

Passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 14th day of November 2015, Mr. Christopher J. Pittman of Bird Cove was in his 93rd year. He leaves to mourn with a lifetime of fond and loving memories his wife of 73 years Bridget Pittman, his Children Michael John(Madelon); Theresa(Bud); William James(Jane); Mary(John Joe); Primus(Christine); Ronald(Gloria); Sheila(Hughie); Melvin(Mary); Maurice(Wanda); Eileen(Matthias); Christine(Royal); Lorraine(Lawrence); Brother Primus(Irene); Sister Melina(late Pius Gould); In- Laws Bertha(Late Michael J Pittman); Maxwell Gould(Late Theresa Gould); as well as a large circle of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents James and Theresa Pittman and his Brothers and Sisters and families. Visitation was held at the Our Lady of Grace Church in Bird Cove from which the Funeral Mass was held at 11:00am on Tuesday November 17, 2015 with Fr. Bosco and Fr. Gabriel officiating. TUCKER, CARL

Carl was born in ship cove on June 15, 1944 to Mamie tucker. He was raised by his grandparents Kenneth and Elizabeth tucker. He married Millicent Andrews on June 20th 1968 and they raised for children, Trevor, Rene, Andy and Tim. Carl served as a foster parent to a number of children, most notably Jennifer Simms, whom he considered a part of the family. He worked at Newfoundland and Labrador hydro for all of his adult life, retiring in 2004. Carl was very dedicated to his family. He loved the outdoors, especially winter. He loved to play guitar and mouth organ, and loved telling stories, laughing and making people laugh. He enjoyed being around other people and was a friend to everyone he met. Carl Passed away into peace on the 9th of November, 2015 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony. He leaves behind his wife Millicent, children Trevor (Lesley), Rene (Steve), Andy (Maria), Tim (Melissa), grandchildren Dylan, Alyssa, Drew, and Layla. As well as his brother Wilfred and a large circle of family and friends. Carl Lived to see the passing of his grandparents Kenneth and Elizabeth and his brother Val. Visitation was held at the Pentecostal church in St. Anthony, from which the funeral service was held at 11am on the 13th of November 2015, with Pastor Jeff Bessey Officiating.  Burial followed in the Church Cemetery. The family request that donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Society Craig’s Cause.

HEDDERSON, JOHN WELDON

John Weldon Hedderson was born on June 24th, 1928 to Albert and Matilda Hedderson. On February 3rd, 1963, he married the love of his life, Susie Hedderson. Together they were blessed with five children. John was a fisherman all his life and an active member of the fisherman's Union. He also ran the post office in Straitsview. John was a community oriented man who actively volunteered. He did not mind speaking with government officials and worked hard to ensure that the community received adequate funding. He was a fighter who would "go all the way" for what he believed in. He leaves to mourn a large and loving family including his wife Susie; sons Terry (Natalie), and Dwight (Mary); daughters Ella (Wayne), and Elaine; sister Nellie (Walter); grandchildren Terry (Stephanie), Dillon (Elizabeth), Matthew (Robyn), Bryan, Jenna, Noah, and Arren; and great-grandchild Allison. John was predeceased by his parents Albert and Matilda; son Bryan; brothers Issac, Marckus, Samuel, Jim, Noah, Edgar, Heber, and Lenoard; and sister Marjorie. He will be forever loved and remembered fondly. Visitation was held at the Pentecostal Church in St. Lunaire-Griquet from where the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on Friday, November 13, 2015 with Pastor Baker officiating. Internment followed in the Interfaith Cemetery in Quirpon. Funeral services entrusten to Kerry. M. Fillatre's Funeral Home, St. Anthony, Lee Nippard funeral director.
