HOWELL, MARGARET CLARA

Margaret Clara Hancock was born in Goose Cove, NL on August 11, 1952 to Joseph and Agnes Hancock.  She grew up in the community with her two brothers, John and Phillip, and her two sisters Theresa and Elizabeth.  Margaret graduated high school at Harriot Curtis Collegiate, and went on to graduate as a Registered Nurse from Western Memorial School of Nursing in Corner Brook in 1975.  She then came to work in Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthon, where she spent time in many roles, but most enjoyed her time in the Emergency Dept. Margaret married Guy Howell in 1980.  They had two children, Krista Lynn and Christopher.  After an early retirement from her profession, Margaret spent a great deal of her time involved in activities at her church, Bethel Pentecostal Church.  She enjoyed cooking and caring for others.  She gave tirelessly of her time and love to anyone and everyone who came in her path. Margaret Passed away into Peace on 10th of July, 2014, with her family by her side. She leaves to mourn her husband, Guy, daughter Krista Lynn, son Christopher (Stefanie), sister Theresa (Edward), sister Elizabeth, brother Phillip (Gail), mother in law Flora, sister in law Selma, brother in law Todd (Sandra), several nieces and nephews, and a large circle of other family and friends. She is predeceased by her father and mother, Joseph and Agnes as well as her brother John.  Visitation was held at the Bethel Pentecostal Church, from which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on the 13th of July with Pastor Jeff Bessey officiating. Burial followed in the Church cemetery.  Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger Funeral Director.

WAY, JOHN JACOB

Passed peacefully away at the age of 94 years at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony surrounded by family and friends, Mr. John Jacob Way (March 12, 1920 - June 30, 2014) he leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories hes sister Edna Coles, The way Families and a large circle of family and friends. John is predeceased by his wife Una Way (Chambers), his father, Matthew Way; his mother, Minnie Genge; Brothers, Roland, Stephen, Darius, George and George Jr. ; Sisters Virginia Gardiner, Jane Simms, Effie Arnold, Cecilia Boyd, Millie Genge, Dora Coles, Laura. Visitation was held at St. Marks Anglican Church in Savage Cove From which the family service took place at 8:00pm on Wednesday july 2. the funeral service was held at 11:00am on Thursday July 3, with Rev. Irving Letto Officiating. Interment followed at the savage cove/ sandy cove Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements where entrusted to Kerry M. PYNN, ADA DAPHNE

Ada Pynn was born on may 11, 1933 in St. Lunaire to Thomas and Deborah Bussey. she married Gilbert Pynn of Quirpon on Feb. 27th 1953, they were blessed with 4 Children; 2 daughters and 2 sons, who made them proud grandparents to 3 grandsons and 1 grand daughter. Ada worked a short time with FPI. she was a loving  Wife, Mother, grandmother. she was a very Caring and fun loving person who loved to entertain and bring smiles to peoples faces. .on June 28th 2014 she passed peacefully away at the john m. gray center surrounded my her family . she will be missed by a large circle of family and friends. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her two daughters Elizabeth (Wes), Donna(Don), two sons John (Joyce), and Rick (Glenys), five Grandchildren Cory, Chris, Vanessa, Justin and Michael, Six Great Grandchildren , Two sisters Mable and Betty, Three Brothers Charles, David, and Fred and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and family as well as friends. She was predeceased by her husband Gilbert, Parents Thomas and Deborah Bussey, Sister Effie, June and Nina and Brother Don. The visitation was held first at the funeral home in St. Anthony and Concluded at Central United Church in Quirpon. From which the funeral service took place at 2:00pm on Thursday July 3rd, 2014 with Rev. Gus Pendleton officiating. HANCOCK, MINNIE MAY

Passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 23rd day of June 2014. Miss Minnie May Hancock of Roddickton was in her 57th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her Friend Andrew Compton, two sons Tyson(Caryn), Goose Bay, NL; Jason(Candace), Devon AB; Twin Sister Mary Wilcox(Gus Rumbolt), four grandchildren Brett Hancock, James, Arrick and Kiyerria, Stepfather John Seymour, Springdale, NL; Niece Patti Canning(Barry), Devon AB; as well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Shem and Ethel Hancock. Visitation took place at the Calvary Pentecostal Temple in Roddickton from which the funeral service took place at 2:00pm on the 26th day of June2014 with Pastor G.B. Pinksen officiating. It is with great sadness the family of Margaret White (nee Coles) announces her passing on Sunday June 22, 2014 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial in St. Anthony, Mrs. Margaret White in her 76th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Nelson; sons Barry (Dale), Rol (Joy) and Nelson (Dorcas); daughters Miriam (Leslie), and Nita (Stephane); grandchildren Chasity (Gavin), Kelly (Christopher), Robby (Holly), Gina (Boyd), Jack (Tori), Dillon, Eric, and Rendell (Keisha); great-grandchildren Dustin, Peyton, Anna, and Brooklyn; special family Rosie McLean, brother Roland (Ivy), sisters Alma (Gerald), Eva (Garfield), Eliza (Edmund), Sarah, Barbara (Harris), and Mona (Stanley), as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Miriam and Roland and her sister Dora. Visitation took place at St. Thomas Anglican Church in Sandy Cove from where the funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25 with Rev. Letto officiating. GENGE, WILLIAM EDWARD

Passed peacefully away at the age of 86 years at the Charles
S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony surrounded by
wife Hazel and all his family, William Edward Genge (March
23, 1928-June 21, 2014) of Flowers Cove. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories
his wife Hazel; children Patsy (Roland), Ivy (Roland), Harvey (Lisa), Elaine (John), Marjorie (Wycliffe), Dorcas (Nelson), Pamela (Peter), and Maxine (Cyril); 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren as well as a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his son Robert, parents Henry and Dorcas Genge, sisters Lillian Genge, Johanna Mitchelmore, Constance Way and Polly Whalen, brothers Garfield Genge and Isreal Genge. Visitation was held at St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Flowers Cove from where the family service took place at 7 p.m. on the Tuesday, June 24. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25 with Rev. Irving Letto officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. RICHARDS, FREDERICK

Frederick Richards (Sr.) was born on July 4th, 1917 in St. Carol’s to Abraham and Maryann (Colbourne). He was one of six children. On February 24th, 1942 he married Keziah Saunders and together they raised five children and one grandchild. He spent most of his life fishing in and around St. Carol’s. He loved tending to his garden, picking berries and other outdoor activities but his greatest love was his family. Frederick leaves to mourn sons: Roy (Christine), Gordon (Margaret); daughters: Shirley (Willis), Faye (Hedley), Judy (Harrison); 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; one sister in law Elizabeth Dorcas; many other friends and family. He was pre-deceased by Wife Keziah; parents Abraham and Maryann; Twin brother James; brother Harry (Jessie); sisters Grace (Lewis), Martha (Thomas) and Emma (Walter).  Visitation was held at St. Paul's Anglican Church in St. Carols, from which the funeral service  took place at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 21st, with Rev. Mark Wilkoff officiating. burial followed the service in the community cemetery. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. HILLIER, MINNIE ERMA


Minnie Erma Hillier was born Nov. 24, 1916 to Thomas and Sarah Ann(Pynn) Pilgrim. Minnie shared her younger years with five other siblings Ralph, Leonard, Ambrose, James, Gladys, and Winnie. Minnie married her first love William Quinton and together they had five children Scott, Hope Wilson, Joy and Bill. After Williams passing, Minnie soon found the second love of her life Llewellyn Hillier. Minnie and Llewellyn married Oct. 10, 1947 and together were blessed with eight children, Lindy, Wavey, Glenda, Wally, Don, Ernest, Elvis, and Pam. They enjoyed their life together and surrounded by all there children. The joy of Minnie’s life was being able to watch her children grow into wonderful adults. Minnie lost Llewellyn the love she shared for forty-five years on December 26th, 1992. Minnie was a hard worker and although it was difficult at times raising thirteen children she made the most of it all, but she also found time to give to her community in many ways. She had talents and with raising thirteen children she learned how to become a wonderful seamstress and cook. Among many other things she was a business lady and was self employed for years. Minnie was a big supporter of her church and carried her banner with honour. She filled the rolls of acting sergeant major, solist and Sunday school teacher and also the Y.P.S.M. She was the very first one to be dedicated in the Griquet Corps , Minnie was always a dedicated church member and will be missed and remembered by her family, relatives and friends. Minnie peacefully away at the John M. Gray Center on the 13th of June 2014 at the age of 97 years. Minnie Erma Hillier of Griquet leaves to mourn her loving children Hope(Keith), Scott(Nellie), Wilson(Evelyn), Joy(Marvin), Bill, Wavey(Ronald), Glenda(Norman), Wally(Herman), Don(Evelyn), Ernest(Kenny), Elvis(Ellen), and Pam(Asner), a large circle of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great Great Grandchildren, as well  as a large circle of friends. She was predeceased by her first husband William Quinton and second husband Llewellyn Hillier, Son Lindy HIlier, Grandson Jim Hillier, Granddaughter Melanie Fields. Visitation was at the funeral home on June 14th 2014 and continued on at the Anglican church in Dark Tickle on June 15th 2014 from which the funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on the 16th day of June 2014 with Major Dinzel Baggs and Rev. Mark Wilkoff officiating. Burial will follow in the Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. COLBOURNE, SHERLOCK SPURGEON

The second of six children born to Mary and Hayward Colbourne, Sherlock was born on May 16, 1949.  He wore many hats in his lifetime, working at the lighthouse at Belle Island, attending university to qualify as a teacher and later in life he ran a small computer company.  Sherlock was a man of varied interests, he enjoyed reading, loved the outdoors, liked to travel and was very close to his family.  Sherlock was an avid historian, particularly family history and was very well informed about his family.  While he did not have children of his own, he spent many hours entertaining his many nieces and nephews. Sherlock Passed away suddenly at his home in St. Anthony on the 9th of June 2014.   Sherlock leaves to mourn his sisters, Lavinia Byrne, Pearl Colbourne, Joan (Donald) Powell, Ann (William) Barry, and Trudy (Gary) Baikie as well as his half-brother Heber (Loretta) Hussey.  He also leaves to mourn 9 nieces, 5 nephews, 9 great nephews, 4 great nieces, special friends at Harbour View Apartments and a large circle of other family and friends. Sherlock was predeceased by his parents Hayward and Mary Colbourne. He will be fondly remembered by them all.  Rest in peace dear brother, uncle and friend. Visitation was held at the Funeral home in St. Anthony, after which the funeral service was held at the St. Anthony United Church at 11:00am on Monday June 16th 2014 with Rev. John McGonigle Officiating. Burial followed the service in the Fishing Point United Cemetery. Funeral Arangments where entrusted to Kerry M. ELLIOTT, ERNEST GORDON

Ernest Gordon Elliott was born in Raleigh on Nov.  21st 1940, he was the youngest of 7 children born to William and Maud Elliott. in 1966 he met and married Vida and During that time they raised 3 Children, family was the most important thing to Ern and he also got the pleasure of enjoying 3 wonderful grand children and  1 great grandchild. Ern worked very hard throughout his life at many jobs including fishing with his brother Chesley and Wilbert to driving his own dump truck and running the family general store. he was a very talented accordion player and had a passion for playing music with is brother Wilbert. Ern Passed away on the 10th of June, 2014, at the Health Science Center in St. Johns, He leaves to mourn his wife Vida, Daughter Paula (Jerome) Parrill, Sons Paul (Cindy) and Kerry (Marcie), Grand children Brandon (Marissa), Morrgan and Ryder. Great Grandson Abel, sister Hazel Butt and Brother Wilbert (Juanita), sister in law myrtle Elliott and Rita Elliott, his love and his music will be surely missed.  Ern lived to see the passing of his father William Elliott, mother Maud Elliott, brothers Chesley, Kenneth and Ross, Sister Phyllis Thistle, Sister in law Olive Elliott. Visitation was held at the United Church in Raleigh, From which the Funeral service took place at 2:00pm on the 15th of June with Rev.
