EARLE, RONALD

Ronald was born on September 18, 1937 to Thomas and Stella Earle in St. Lunaire-Griquet. He married Elizabeth Hillier in 1968 and as a result of their reunion; they were blessed by 8 beautiful children (5 sons and 3 daughters), 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Ronald worked as a fisherman, a talented carpenter and engineer.  He was amazingly good with numbers as many of us could tell stories of him completing their tax returns.  As we sat by him, his sense of humour was sure to make us laugh! He was a man who loved his family.  He treasured his moments with his children, grandchildren and friends.  Because of his kind, loving personality he will always be remembered and live in our hearts forever! Mr. Ronald Earle astg the age of 76 passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 6th day of June 2014. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 45 years Elizabeth M. Earle, Sons Morgan(Christina), Rodger(Eva), Ricky, Barry(Dana), Keith(Deanne), Daughters Cathy(Darrell) and Angela(Reza), thirteen Grandchildren, Seven Great Grandchildren, His Mother Stella Earle, Three Brothers and Four Sisters as well as a large circle of family and friends. HE was predeceased by his Daughter Cynthia Earle Pilgrim, Father Thomas Earle, Brothers Allan, Dale, Roger, Perry, Sisters Elva, Dulcie, Beatrice, and Jessie. Visitation as held at the Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle from which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on the 8th day of June2014 with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating. PATEY, FLORENCE (FLO) PEARL

Florence (Flo) Pearl Humby was born in St. Lunaire, on June 26th of 1943 to Joseph and Jessie Humby. on Oct. 19th, 1960 she married the love of her life Allan Patey; they had many great years together and raised 8 children who were the apple of her eye. she was dedicated and loving wife, Mother, grandmother and Great-Grandmother. she was a hard worker; she worked in the fish plant up until the moratorium and embroidered for Grenfell Handicrafts to help provide for her family, she always wanted the best for them. Flo enjoyed knitting. embroidering. Crocheting. Berry picking. house cleaning. evening rides looking for moose and caribou and cherished spending time with her family. Especially grandchildren and great grandchildren. she was a woman who was of little words but always there to lend a hand to anyone in need.  Flo passed peacefully into the presence of her loving heavenly father on June 3rd at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony where she was reunited with her loving parents and other family members. left with many great and loving memories are her husband of 53 years Allan, Children Wanda (Jim), Samuel (audrey), William (Mary), Carolynn (Tommy), Peggy-Ann (Morris), Larraine (Tenna), Corey (Crystal), and Valda (Glenn). Grand children Allan (Jocelyn), Evelyn (Brad), Shawn (Sarah), Jeremy (Vanessa T), Justin (Allison), Jonathan Vanessa D), Brittany, Nicholas and Kian. Great Grandchildren Alexa, Braydon, Jaxon, Sacha, Griffin and Joey and 1sister and 6 brothers and in-laws as well as a large of nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. she was pre deceased by her loving parents Joseph and Jessie Humby, brothers William, Wilbert, Alvohn, Truman, mother and father in law Beulah and Samuel Patey, 2 sister in laws and 2 brother in laws. Visitation was held at the Calvary Pentecostal church in St. Lunaire-Griquet followed by the funeral service which was held at 2:00pm on Friday June 6, with pastor Wayne Baker Officiating. SEXTON, GEORGE JEROME

George J. Sexton was born Feb. 5, 1953 in Goose Cove to Wilfred and Lavenia Sexton. On Sept. 21st of 1973 he married Angela Patey and together they raised three Children who gave them the Joy of many grand children and step grand children, all of whom he adored with his whole heart. George was kind, humble, generous and caring. he was an excellent father and grandfather. he had a great love for fishing, hunting and anything to do with the great outdoors. he was a man who was always there to lend a helping hand. Left with a life time of loving memories are his Wife : Angela, Sons Dion (Lorna), Herbert (Jennifer), George (Jennifer), Grandchildren Hailey, Shannon, Marcus, Step Grandchildren Brandon, and Brady. Mother Lavnia, Brothers and sisters Max (Corinne) Tony (Helen), Elsie (Karen), Edward (Lillian), Mary (Renee), Reginald (Phylis), Ethel, Calvin (Agatha), Louis (Brenda), John, Winston (Donna), Evelyn (Bill), Lloyd (Rochelle), and Lavenia (Richard). George lived to see the loss of his father Wilfred sexton, grandparents George and Maryann Powell, Mike Sexton and Fannie Sexton. Visitation was held at the funeral home in St. Anthony, after which the funeral service took place at 11:00am form the Roman Catholic Church in Goose Cove on the 3rd of June 2014 with Father Anthony Officiating. burial followed in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Goose Cove. SIMMS, REGINALD NOEL


January 15, 1928 – May 31, 2014
St. Anthony, NL

On Saturday, May 31, 2014, at the age of 86, Reginald peacefully left this world. Reg will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Joan; children: David
(Cynthia) & Maurice (Beverly); grandchildren: Heather (Jason), Jason
(Catherine), Shayna, Paul and Ryan; great grandsons, Joshua, Zachary,
Maxx, Charlie, Thomas, Dylan & Lucas; sister: Dorothy; brother,
Norman; sister-in-law Jean, brother-in-law Wayne (Bernette). He will
also be missed by a large circle of family and friends. Reginald was
predeceased by his parents John & Bertha Simms; brothers Robert,
Raymond, Frank & George, & sisters; Jean, Jesse & Catherine. the visitation was held at the funeral home in St. Anthony, after which the Funeral Service was held at the St. Mary's Anglican Church in St. Anthony, at 2:00pm on Tuesday June 3rd, with Rev. SIMMS, EMMA BERYL

Emma Beryl Colbourne was born in St. Anthony, on March 29, 1931. She worked as a nurse's aide at IGA prior to becoming a wife and mother. Beryl enjoyed many outdoor activities with her husband and children and in later years cherished spending time with her grandchildren. She loved bingo games with her friends, cooking for everyone, and tending to her flower garden. She remained witty throughout her long life. Beryl Passed into peace on May 26, 2014  at the John M. Gray Center in St. Anthony in her 83rd year, she will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed. She leaves to mourn her children, Barb (Sam), Beattie (Cathy), Bradley (Jennifer). Grandchildren: Tara, Michael, Amanda, Samantha, Alana, Alexander and Nikita. Great grandchildren: Eli, Simon, Cynthia, Maddison, McKenna, Taylor, Alexa. Siblings: Sister Marjorie, Brothers Bill, Bruce, Allan, and Morgan. Also a large circle of extended family and friends.  She was predeceased by her husband Alex, parents, Frederick and Jane Colbourne,  daughter Pamela (Bob), sisters Florence, Irene, and brother Edward. visitation took place at the funeral home, followed the funeral service at 2:00pm on May 29th, 2014 at the st. Anthony united Church with Rev. John McGonigle officiating. burial followed the service at the Fishing Point United Cemetery. Funeral arrangements where entrusted to  Kerry M. SAMSON, THOMAS GARDNER

Tom was born to Bessie and Peter Samson on July 30th, 1944, on December. 31st, 1965 he married Jessie Parrill. They had one son, Dean. Family was very important to tom, He dearly loved and appreciated each and every one of them. he enjoyed his job as a heavy equipment operator and always felt comfortable and happy machinery. in his spare time he liked to go fishing and hunting, he truly loved the great outdoors.Tom passed away into peace at the Charles s. Curtis Memorial hospital in St. Anthony on the 25th of may, 2014 in his 69th year. left with fond and loving memories of his life are his dear wife of 48 years Jessie, his dean (Michelle) and Granddaughter Kayla; Sisters Barbara, Elsie (Grant) and brother Kevin; Sister in law Bernice; Brothers in law Grenfell (Eliza) and Clyde (Brenda). in his years, Thomas lived to see the passing of his parents Peter and Bessie Samson; his special sister Marina; and brothers Hiram and Conrad. Visitation was held at the Church of the Advent in Plum Point, From Which the Funeral Service was held at 2:00pm on Wednesday May 28th, 2014 with Rev. WOODWARD, BLANCHE

Passed peacefully away at the John M. Gray Centre on May 24, 2014. Mrs. Blanche Woodward of Boat Harbour, in her 96th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughter Una (Gerald); sons Enos (Bessie) and Clyde (Patty); daughter-in-law Rowena; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Nathaniel, daughter Rowena, son Gerald, her parents Henry and Susan and a number of brother and sisters. Visitation was held at the St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Boat Harbour from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27 with Rev. Mark O. Wilkoff officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery in Boat Harbour. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Siobhan Mauger, funeral director.

SAUNDERS, GARFIELD ROY

Roy Saunders was born on January 12,1948 to George and Clara Saunders. He had  5 brothers,2 sisters and 6 half sisters. On November 3,1967 he married Priscilla Hedderson, together they had 2 children, Rowena and Jason. He had 4 grandchildren, Jillian, Joshua, Nickolas and Lillie and 1 great grandchild Chloe. He fished in the long liner for a few years before going to Goose Bay for work. Only there for a couple years before coming back  to Cook's Harbour to do what he loved most.... fishing !Roy loved to set potatoes in the summer and he mostly enjoyed digging them in the fall when he could get the chance to cook up a feed of fish ,potatoes and scrunchions and  then to end his meal with a good cup of tea and  a cigarette. His grandchildren were his pride and joy! He loved to watch them play and hear their stories. If he could get them up to something that they shouldn't be at he would. He loved every minute he spent with them. In the last 8 years as a quadriplegic, he spent time at Curtis Hospital and the John M Gray center in St.Anthony. To him the staff were like an extended family. Roy had lots of patience. He never complained about anything, even after he got sick. He loved and adored his kids, grand kids and all his family . He especially adored his loving Wife of 45 years. Roy passed away peacefully at the John M Gray Centre with his family around him on May 22,2014. Left to Mourn: His Loving Wife Priscilla, Daughter Rowena(Christopher),and Son Jason(Roxanne). Grandchildren Jillian, Joshua(Kimberley),Nickolas and Lillie and Great Grandchild Chloe. Brothers San(Eliza),Edgar(Sheila),Melvin(Clara) & Fred(Elsie). Sisters Joyce Cornick & Velma(Morris) Boyd. Half Sister Dorcas and sister in law Marilyn. Predeceased By his Parents George & Clara, Brother Havner, Half Sisters Bessie, Helen, Rebecca, Keziah and Vera. visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Cooks Harbour, from which the funeral service took place at 2:00pm on Monday May 26th  with rev. DREDGE, LORENZO


Lorenzo dredge was born on April 1, 1929, in Black Duck Cove, to William and Edna . He had five sisters Rhoda, Ima, Nina, Jessie and Marion, two predeceased brothers Joseph and Samuel. He married Christina Campbell on February 8, 1961 and had a marriage of 53 yrs. They raised five children , and they now have six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren . Lo spent time on the fishing grounds to provide for his family. He worked with the highways for sometime , and would take his family over to camp 4 , where Chris would cook. Lo was a dedicated worker and provider for his family , he love to socialize with his family and always knew where each one of his children was. Lo remain active , showing his skills and work ethics as he worked on several projects when he retired. Someone once said that the best part of a good man's life is his acts of kindness and love . Lo was a loving and caring husband . He was proud of his children and spoke of his grandchildren and great grandchildren so fondly, he had a genuine concern for everyone in his family circle. He passed peacefully away  on may 13/2014 at Charles S Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony. Lo is survived by his wife Christina Children- Robert(Maryann),  Wavey(Dennis), Curtis( Louise), Nina( Thomas), Scott(Amelia) Grandchildren- Lorenzo(Teraceta), Brian(Abby), Jamie( Jessica), niki(Diana), Tristan, jaycee Great grandchildren- Kaden, Ty , Jaden, Gracielynn Sisters- Rhoda, Ima , Jessie, Marion He was predeceased by his loving parents  William and Edna Predeceased brothers- Samuel and Joseph Predeceased Sister  - Nina Predeceased brother in laws- Clyde and Jacob. Visitation was held at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Black Duck Cove, From Which the funeral service took place at 2:00pm on May 16th, 2014 With Rev. Harold Harvey officiating. burial followed in the Anglican Cemetery in Black Duck Cove. Funeral arrangement were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatres Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton.

HILLIER, PAULA MICHELLE

Paula was born June 2, 1964 in St. Anthony to George and Pearl Hillier. Paula grew up in St. Anthony but also lived in several other places including Bramalea, Calgary, Kitchener, Conception Bay South and St. John’s. Paula married and subsequently divorced. Through this marriage her son, Christopher, was born. Paula was kind hearted, forgiving, and had a gentle spirit that would not intentionally cause any harm. She was dearly loved and will be sadly missed. Passed suddenly away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 9th day of May 2014. Ms. Paula Hillier was in her 49th year she leaves to mourn, mother Pearl and father George; son Christopher; sister Charlene; grandchildren; biological half-sister Elaine,  as well as a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by grandparents Tobias and Hazel Hillier, and Augustus and Elizabeth Johnson, aunt Minnie, Varrick, Garland, Christopher, Clayton, uncle Lewis cousin Kevin. Visitation was held at the funeral home in St. Anthony followed by the service which was held at 2:00pm on the 12th day of May 2014 with Pastor Jeff Bessey officiating. Internment followed in the Pentecostal cemetery in St. Anthony. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard.
