Dad was a wonderful and gentle man. He always seemed content and was pretty easy-going. His smile was never far away. He was quiet most of the time. But then, when you got him talking, the stories would flow. Dad taught us, by his example, the importance of a good work ethic. He worked from dawn to dusk to provide for his family. We never went without anything we needed. He loved his family dearly - “I loves ye all”, he would say every time you talked to him. Children brought out his biggest smiles. His grandchildren and great-grandson held a special place in his heart.

The family would like to thank Dad’s caregiver, Lucy Byrne. Her incredible compassion and great care allowed him to remain at home as long as possible. When she came into the house, Dad’s face lit up and she got the big smiles too. The staff at Curtis Memorial Hospital took great care of Dad in his last few months. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
