Passed away surrounded by her loved ones, Karen Mahar, age 59 of Bird Cove NL at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital in St. John’s on the 20th of June, 2023.
Left to mourn her passing are her husband Terrance, mother Helena, brother Fonse (Stella), sister in laws Ellen (Tony), Jean, Noreen, Josephine (Riley), Monica (Percy), Mary (Danny), brother in laws Joe (Darlene), Hiram (Mathilda), Wade (Judy), Dennis (Wanda). As well as her nieces and nephews Tim (Yvette, Luke, Ara), Karen (Paul, Xander, Evie), Tammy (John, Owen and Liam), Jamie (Laurel, Sophia), Roxane (Danny), Justin (Stacey, Avery, Craig), Edgar (Stacey), Bradley (Chad), Raelene )Jamie, Sophie, Claire), Sandy (Alicia, Lux), Stacy (Ayeshea, Brody), Jenny (Marty, Carter, Kenzie), Jessica (Jamie, Jade, Jack), Andy, Joanne (Kyle, Ava, Hailey), Paul’s Children (Camron, Emily, Raina, Zander, Zaiden). Karen has been predeceased by her Mother in law Maggie, Her Father in law Peter Joe, her Nephew Paul Mahar, her grandparents Lavinia and James Pittman as well as her special friend Linda Porter.
The family would like to send a special thanks out to the staff of Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony and St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital in St. John’s for their kind and compassionate care for Karen during all her stays.
Visitation is being held at the Our Lady Of Grace Church in Bird Cove Beginning Friday June 23rd, from early evening until 9pm, Saturday 9am to 9pm with a Rosary Service at 7pm, Sunday visitation from 1pm to 9 pm with a Family Service at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 11am on Monday, June 26th, 2023 with Farther Rossi officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral service with burial to be announced later.

GENGE, MARION LENORA
Passed away peacefully at Curtis Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony NL at the age of 86 years surrounded by her family.
Born September 13, 1936, to Abraham and Rose White, Marion will be remembered as a very giving and caring lady who touched the lives of all who knew her.
She married Cos Genge on December 9, 1961, and raised 5 children. She was a totally dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend. She was an avid reader and a great cook, known especially for her sweet raisin bread and pies. Marion enjoyed working with her brother Ron and sister-in-law Julie for many years and after her husband Cos retired, they enjoyed many happy and healthy years together.
She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her children; Darlene, Maunda (Gerald), Bud (Monica), Brian (Sayamol),and Stella; Grandchildren Scott (Erika), Randy (Lei), Valene (Bruce), Blayne (Courtney), Toni (Brad), Stacie (Trav), Jarod (Tamara), and Peter; 16 great-grandchildren; Brother and sister in laws Aurelia, Hazel, Julia, Ellen, Henry and Elva, Harris and Barbara, and Clara, as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.
Marion was predeceased by her parents; Abraham and Rose White, husband Cos, Brother Ron, Sisters Dulcie, Stella (Peter) and Juanita (Seymour); Nephew Clyde; and the Genge Brother in laws and Sister in Laws.
Special thanks to the Ivy Durley Place for the care and support Mom received for the past 41/2 years. She thoroughly enjoyed her time with you all and was very content and happy. Also, special thanks to the nurses at Curtis Memorial Hospital for the phenomenal care and support for the family.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers and monetary donations, if you wish, you can donate in her memory to the Janeway Children’s Hospital that was dear to her heart.

SIMMS, ARCHIBALD
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Archibald Simms announces his passing on June 16, 2023 at St. Anthony Curtis Memorial Hospital, at the age of 84. Archibald was born in Roddickton, NL to William & Loretta Simms on January 5, 1939. He was a Lumberjack, Truck Driver, Bus Driver, Janitor, & Emergency Medical Responder. His final job upon retirement was a EMR at the Roddickton White Bay Health Centre which he loved dearly.
Archibald loved the Workplace but his strongest devotion was to the Gospel & his Church, where he played his accordion and sang every chance he could for 53 years. Since March 1961, he was a devoted member and musician of Calvary Pentecostal Temple in Roddickton where he gave his Heart & Life to Christ.
He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his Wife of 62 Years: Pearl (Earle) Simms; Sons: Dwane (Judy), Oral (Marlyce), Brian (Renee); Daughters: Viva (Lester), Janice (Archie); Grandchildren: Stephanie, Melissa, Tyler, Chad, Nicole, Terri, Valarie; Great Grandchildren: Zackery, Cameron, Hyden, Shayle, Jessa, Emmy, Brooks; Sisters: Ruby Swain, Madeline Newman. Archibald will be sadly missed by a large circle of relatives and close friends.

COOMBS, PHILEMON
With great sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Philemon Coombs aged 79 years. Born Feb 10, in Shoal Cove West, NL. Son of the late Abraham and Bridget Coombs. Philemon (Free) was a man who loved to be on the go visiting his friends, having a good drop of rum and a good old yarn. Philemon spent a lot of his time working in Lab City as a heavy equipment operator. He also worked in the plant in Anchor Point. He loved to torment and carry on with his younger sisters and his neices and nephews. He had a big heart and an idle smile that will never be forgotten.
Left to mourn: Common law spouse Ruby Gibbons Sr. Brothers: Abe (Laura) and Bruce (Ivy). Sisters: Alva (Henry), Josie (Harrison), Mary (Melvin), and Peggy (Roland). Sister-in-law: Jean. Brothers-in-law: Walter (Caroline) and John (Nancy), and a large circle of nieces, nephews, close friends and relatives.

WHITE, GEORGE WILLIAM
September 4, 1929 - June 13, 2023
With great sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of the late George W. White aged 93 years. Born on September 4,1929 in Sandy Cove, NL, he was the son of the late William and Rhoda (nee: Caines) White. He is survived by brother-in-law Douglas Parrill, special cousin and friend Calvin Whalen and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, families and friends.
Uncle George loved his family. He possessed a steadfast faith and was committed to the betterment of his community. He enjoyed nature and the great outdoors, he liked having nice clothes, cars, quads and argos and he was always ready for a “good time” with family and friends. Uncle George was a great soul.
He was predeceased by his loving parents, William and Rhoda White, brother Eldred (Dora) White, brother Anthony (Cinderella) White, sister Rita (Elias) Coles, sister Virtue Parrill, twin brother/sister (John/Rosanna) White and sister Gertrude (Wilga) White.
Our sincerest appreciation and thanks are offered to the staffs at Revera Cambridge Estates, Portugal Cove Road, St. John’s and Ivy Durley Place, Flowers Cove for their kindness and great care during Uncle George’s stay at their homes. We also whole-heartedly thank the staff at 4 North B, Health Science Center, St. John’s for their outstanding professionalism and compassion while he was in palliative care.

TAYLOR, GRACE BLANCHE
Age 72
It is with great sadness that the family of Grace Taylor announce her passing on June 11th, 2023 at the Health Science Center, St. John’s with her nieces Angela and Stella each holding her hand.
Grace was born to Allen and Delilah (Bessey) Taylor, she was the youngest of 10 children. After the passing of her mother she was left to care for her father, sister Linda and nephew Keith. She was a kind and gentle soul that never complained or asked anything of anyone. She was a hard worker and she lived every day with a smile on her face. She will be greatly missed by her two sisters and especially her nephew Keith who was like her own, and by all who knew her.
She is survived by her Sisters: Elvie (Cyril) Campbell, Selma Taylor; Special Nephew: Keith Taylor; Sister in Law: Peggy Taylor.

NOSEWORTHY, WHYMAN
July 3, 1942 - June 7, 2023
Whyman was a hard worker all his life; he spent many years working in the fish plant and then as a woodsman. Whyman enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends. He also enjoyed riding his bike and his ski-doo. His greatest love and joy was spending time with his family, his face would light up whenever they came to visit.
Whyman passed away on June 7, 2023 at his home in Lower Cove at the age of 80 years.

PILGRIM, NELSON JOHN
Nelson John Pilgrim, 72, of St. Anthony, Newfoundland, passed away on May 21, 2023, at Dr. Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony.
Nelson John Pilgrim was born in St.Lunaire-Griquet to Annie Pilgrim (Earle) and Chesley Pilgrim on March 11th, 1951. He began high school at the United Church School in Griquet and then graduated from Harriot Curtis Collegiate in St. Anthony. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1977, and a Master of Arts in Education from St Francis Xavier University in 1985. Nelson worked as a teacher at Harriot Curtis Collegiate and as a teacher, vice-principal and principal at St. Anthony Elementary, until 2003 when he retired from his career in education. He then went on to spend 10 years as a guide on kayaking and hiking trips in western and northern Newfoundland. He most enjoyed being out in his boats in the waters surrounding his home and had a passion for fishing, on the ocean and in rivers. Nelson also had a life-long interest in woodworking and mechanics.
Nelson leaves to mourn: his sons, Owen and Neil (Merel); grandchildren, Freya and Kai; siblings, Alvohn (Maysie), Shirley (Piercy Patey), Lucy, Lindy (Elizabeth), Lewis (Leona), Cassie (Oliver Hynes), Dan (Caroline), and Jackie (Stewart Froude); and many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Chesley and Annie, his sister Olive, and his brothers Carl and Dave.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home in St. Anthony on Friday, May 26, 2023 from 2-4 pm followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 27, 2023.
Memorial donations may be made in Nelson’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

COLES, VIVIAN EMILY
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Vivian Emily Coles announce her peaceful passing at Curtis Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony at the age of 84 years.
Vivian was born on January 7th 1939 to Ralph and Stella Coles of Sandy Cove. She was raised with 6 brothers and 5 sisters whom she remained very close to all of her life. Vivian grew in Sandy Cove and later moved to Gosse Bay where her and her sister, Margaret settled. She loved visitors, dining out every chance she had, and never refused a good laugh. Even though she lived in Goose Bay, she remained close to her family back in Sandy Cove where she later lived for the remainder of her life.
Vivian is forever loved and will be sadly missed by brothers and sister: Eldred (Evelyn), Margaret, Shawn. Eileen (Clyde), Lucy (George), Ralph, Daisy (Eddie and Brian), Whyman (Marilyn), and Joy (Roland); Sister-in-laws: Eliza and Minnie Coles, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is predeceased by parents Ralph and Stella; Brothers: Edmund, Alberts, and Howard.
Cremation and burial to take place at a later date.

BROMLEY, EDWARD FRANCIS
Edward Francis Bromley, born in St. Anthony on January 22, 1941 passed away peacefully on May 15, 2023 at St. Clares Mercy Hospital at the age of 82.
Edward grew up on Fischot Island and later moved to Harbour De View where he met the love of his life Irene. They raised 5 beautiful children together and resettled to Goose Cove in 1979. He loved life on the water, he fished with his best friend and Cousin John Joe for 71 years. he was happiest when he was out in boat, on the wharf or over in Harbour De View.
He loved visitors to sit around the table with and maybe have a little drop of stuff telling old stories or listening to the fisheries broadcast. Edward was a quiet, gentle man, he didn't fuss about much and he loved his children dearly, especially his two beloved daughters.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
