Passed tragically away in Conche on March 16th, 2019 at the age of 57 years. Jerry was a man of many talents. He was a fisherman, woodsman, carpentry, tour guide to tourist and friend to all. He loved to talk and took the time to speak to everyone he met and always said hello. He loved music and dancing. He leaves to mourn his Mother, Ellen; brothers Garrett (Selina), Michael (Bernice), Kenneth; Sisters Christine (Matt), Frances (Gary), Elsie (Bob), Doreen (Jean-Guy), Margaret (Bill). Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces & nephew, extended family and circle of friends. Jerry was predeceased by his father William Byrne, brothers Clifford, Robert and William and Nephew Jeremy Scott. Visitation was held from the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Conche until the funeral on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 11:00 am with Fr. George officiating. Interment followed. It is with great sadness that the family of Claude Randell of Englee announce his passing at the Roddickton Health Centre on March 9, 2019 at the age of 69 years. Claude was born on April 12, 1949 in the small outport community of Williamsport, NL. In 1969, his family resettled to Englee, NL where he met and married Joyce, his wife of 48 years. Claude loved the great outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting, playing darts and watching hockey. With loving memories, Claude is remembered by: his wife Joyce; daughter, Kathy (Barry) Randell and son, Jamie (Stephanie); 2 Grandchildren, Chad Randell and Darla (Eric) Yao; 3 Great Grandchildren, Sienna; Ethan, and Jack. 2 brothers, Joshua (Pauline) and Roger; 5 sisters, Ruby (Wilson) Randell, Selma (Robert) Randell, Pansy (Reuben) Curtis, Pearl (Wayne) Fillier, and Rita (Frank) Pittman as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Claude was predeceased by his parents Hezekiah and Emma Randell; Brother, Ivan Randell and Parents in law, Stewart & Dulcie Brown. Public viewing took place from the Englee United Church. The Celebration of life service was held at The Englee United Church on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 2:00 PM with Majors Frank and Rita Pittman officiating. Passed away March 3, 2019 at the age of 61 years. McGONIGLE RANDELL, JENNIFER TARA
October 26, 1974 – March 6, 2019
Jennifer Tara McGonigle Randell was born in St. Anthony on October 26, 1974 to John and Ruby McGonigle. She was born with health problems but never allowed those problems to prevent her from becoming the loving and caring person she was. On September 16, 1995 she married Barry Randell of Bide Arm and there they made their home. Here they raised their two sons. In spite of numerous health difficulties, Jennifer developed her special talents. She was very artistic, enjoying a variety of different craft works, her specialty being mat hooking. She embroidered quilts and with the help of her mother-in-law and aunt finished a number of projects that she had set as goals after she was diagnosed with cancer in 2018. She did not let this diagnosis defeat her, but courageously battled until the end. She left her family and friends early on March 6th. She is survived by her husband Barry, sons William and Jonathan, her parents John and Ruby McGonigle, Brothers Christopher (Laurie), and Jason (Jacqui), Nieces Bethany and Krista, and Nephew Alex. She is also mourned by her mother-in-law Margaret Randell, brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous friends. Jennifer was predeceased by her Grandparents, William and Rebecca Pilgrim, and Francis McGonigle and Marylou McGonigle-Vance, as well as one Aunt, and three Uncles. As we remember Jennifer, we remember a courageous woman who refused to be defeated by the difficulties of life and who fought bravely to conquer this dreaded disease and who loved her family passionately. Family and friends were received at the Apostolic Faith Church in Bide Arm from where the funeral was held on Sunday, March 10, 2019 with Pastor Howard Canning officiating. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Evelyn Juanita Bromley, of Englee, at age 56, on Thursday, February 28, 2019. She passed peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s, NL, surrounded by her husband and children. She was born on October 4, 1962, the daughter of the late Lloyd Hopkins and Annie Pollard. In 1992, Evelyn married Stephen Bromley of Conche, the town in which she raised her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Stephen; children: Trudy, Jessica (Robert), Sarah (Robbie), Michael (Alana), and Jonathan (Erica); grandchildren: Amy, Ryan, and Liam; brother, Roger; sister, Bernice; parents-in-law, John and Susan Bromley, as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, uncles, aunts, cousins, and life-long friends. She is predeceased by her father, mother, and brother, Roddick. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church of Conche, NL, with Fr. George officiating. Visitation will take place on Monday, March 4, and Tuesday, March 5, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The Rosary will take place Monday at 7:00 p.m., with the Wake service being held Tuesday, March 5, at 7:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Sacred Heart Parish, the residents of Conche, Englee, and other surrounding areas for their continued support and compassion at this most difficult time.

Gladys Coles (Glady) passed away peaceful at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on February 28th, 2019, at the age of 86. Gladys was born January 25, 1933 to Steven and Clara White of Sandy Cove. As a young lady she moved to Savage Cove with her husband Maxwell Coles where they raised five children. Glady was a kind caring lady, who was known for her deep love of her family, her great cooking and exceptionality hospitality. There was never enough company and they could never stay too long. Left with loving memories are her sons; Dean, George Henry and Brains, daughters-in-law; Patsy, Emma and Heather, son-in-law Maitland, Grandchildren; Samanda (Gorv) Dwayne (Salome), Kelly, Seam (Sacha), Allie, Gere and Hilary, great-grandchildren; Leanne, Trav, Brooke and Madison and sister Sarah Way. Gladys was predeceased by her husband Maxwell Coles (Dec 2007), daughter Marilyn (July 2007) and Son Kevin Coles (Dec 2018). Thanks to Rev Omar and Joyce White for their beautiful service, Marsha Genge for organizing the service, Mary Alice Gould for her lovely music and the nurses at Charles S. Curtis Hospital for the care they provided during the past months with limited staff. Special thanks are extended to the Staff of the Ivy Durley Senior’s Home in Flowers Cove for their exceptional care and kindness during Glady’s stay there. Your compassion and understanding will be forever remembered.
