MILLS, SHIRLEY VICTORIA

August 28, 1949 - February 4, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Victoria Mills announce her passing on the 4th day of February 2024 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Left to mourn with fond and loving memories is her husband, Doug; Son: Darrell (Roxanne) Elliott; Grandchildren: Justin Kean, Andrew (Alison) Elliott, DJ (Rebecca) Elliott, and Johanna (John) Hull; Great-Grandchildren: Avery, Emery, and Meredith Elliott; Sisters: Ruby Mitchelmore, Marjorie (Albert) Pilgrim, and Cynthia (John) Diamond; Brothers: Clyde (Phyllis) Elliott, Glen (Gaye) Elliott, and Randy Elliott; Brother in Law: Cecil Mills, Sisters-in-law: Triffie Watkins, Ivy Callahan (Max), Jean Boone (Ivan), Gloria Mills (Carl), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Shirley is predeceased by parents: Ernest and Amelia Elliott; In-laws: Henry and Rhoda Mills; Great-granddaughter: Willow Elliott; Brothers-in-law: Truman Mitchelmore, Allan Watkins, Wallace Curtis, Bruce Mills, Harvey Callahan; Sisters-in-law: Audrey Curtis, Wanda Mills; and Nephew: Hank Pilgrim.

Visitation to take place from the Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home in St. Anthony beginning on Thursday, February 8, 2024 for family and close friends from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place from St. Mary’s Anglican Church in St. Anthonyat 11am on Friday February 9th, with Rev. Arthur Kinsella officiating. Cremation to follow with burial to take place at later date.

KINSELLA, GILBERT THOMAS

July 24, 1942 - March 23, 2022

Passed peacefully away March 23, 2022 at the age of 79 years, Gilbert Thomas Kinsella of St. Anthony.
Gilbert loved life and surrounding himself with family, friends, and strangers alike. He always had a treat on hand for any child that was around.
He leaves to mourn his Wife and best friend of 55 years, Mary; Children, Marilyn (Geoff), Byron (Angela), Penny, Ricky (Tracey); Grandchildren, Kris, David, Nicole, Tyrel, Candis, Ryan, Drayson, Jennine, Kelsey, Kristen, Laura, Lorne, Blake, Aiden; Great-grandchildren, Tia, Jelena, Kayden, Brooklyn, Hendrix, Ava, Sawyer, Kingstin, Lilly; Siblings, Wilfred (Jean), Albert (Ellen), Emma, Arthur (Belinda); Brothers-in-law, Tom, Lloyd (Clara), Ford (Susan) as well as large circle of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Gilbert is predeceased by his Parents, Arthur and Blanche Kinsella; In-laws, Eric and Julie Pilgrim; Daughter Lois Johnson and Son-in-law, Glenn Richards.

Public visitation to take place from St. Mary’s Anglican Church in St. Anthony On Sunday, March 27, 2022 and Monday, March 28, 2022 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Arthur Kinsella officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

NORMORE, MOODY STEPHEN

Moody Stephen Normore was born on August 30, 1959, to Neva Decker and was raised in Miles Cove as a son by his proud grandparents, Stephen and Rhoda Normare.

Moody worked for many years in the woods with SCI in Central NL until a vehicle accident in 1993 left him unable to work. From this time on he encountered a lot of sickness but he always choose to be happy and to spread that joy with who ever he came in contact with. He had a love for life and was grateful for each day he was given.

He met the love of his life, SueAnn Adams of Griquet and they married on April 9, 1999. They lived in Miles Cove and Springdale for most of their married life but moved to St. Anthony a few short years ago so Moody could be close to a dialysis unit and her parents. He certainly loved and appreciated the nurses at Curtis Memorial Hospital dialysis unit. One of Moody's pride and joy was his cats. To say he was a cat lover would be an understatement. Until SueAnn came into his life and even after, his many cats kept him company. His love for animals was very powerful. He feed many stray cats, a stray dog and even would throw food into the woods for a moose. He loved to visit with his family and many friends, always up for a laugh

and a chat. He so willingly showed his love to all. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. On Sunday, October 24 surrounded by family he passed peacefully into the presence of His Lord.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his Wife, SueAnn; father-in-law George Adams; Brother, Lloyd (Flora), Cyril (Avis), George (Yvonne), Stephen (Wanda); Sister, Joy. Moody will also be greatly missed by his family, his friends, his nurses and all those who knew him. Moody is predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Rhoda Normore; Mother-in-law, Dorothy Adams; Mom and Stepfather, Neva and Sam Decker; and Brothers, Eric and Leslie.

Visitation was held from the Bethel Pentecostal Church in St. Anthony on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 from where the funeral service took place at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 28, 2021 with Pastor Jeff Elliott officiating. PILGRIM, MAITLAND ROLAND

Maitland Roland Pilgrim, Born May 15th, 1932. Passed away at the Palliative Care unit in Corner Brook on the 18th of August 2021 at the age of 89 years. He is predeceased by his wife Gladys Critch Pilgrim. Left to Mourn: Vince (Daisy), Dianne (Don), Mable (George), Grandson Keith Boyd, Great Grandson’s Clay & Kai Boyd. Visitation was held at the Funeral home in St. Anthony Followed by the Memorial service at the St. Anthony Salvation army Church at 20m on Saturday August 21st, 2021 with Major Bingle Officiating , burial in the church community cemetery will follow the service. KING, MORRIS

Passed away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 28th day of August, 2016. Mr. Morris King of St. Anthony was in his 78th year. He leaves to mourn his partner Inga Peyton and his children Roy(Cavell), Eddie(Lisa), Peggy(Baxter), Rick(Lynn), Morgan(Muriel), Grandchildren Christopher, Michael, Jessie, Dayna, Benjamin, William, Jenna, Great- Grandchildren Jacob and Evelyn, Sisters Phyllis Loder and Mary Taylor,  as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Eli and Gladys King, Sisters Janet (Verge). Hazel Rice, and Ruth Pilgrim.  Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. TUCKER, CARL

Carl was born in ship cove on June 15, 1944 to Mamie tucker. He was raised by his grandparents Kenneth and Elizabeth tucker. He married Millicent Andrews on June 20th 1968 and they raised for children, Trevor, Rene, Andy and Tim. Carl served as a foster parent to a number of children, most notably Jennifer Simms, whom he considered a part of the family. He worked at Newfoundland and Labrador hydro for all of his adult life, retiring in 2004. Carl was very dedicated to his family. He loved the outdoors, especially winter. He loved to play guitar and mouth organ, and loved telling stories, laughing and making people laugh. He enjoyed being around other people and was a friend to everyone he met. Carl Passed away into peace on the 9th of November, 2015 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony. He leaves behind his wife Millicent, children Trevor (Lesley), Rene (Steve), Andy (Maria), Tim (Melissa), grandchildren Dylan, Alyssa, Drew, and Layla. As well as his brother Wilfred and a large circle of family and friends. Carl Lived to see the passing of his grandparents Kenneth and Elizabeth and his brother Val. Visitation was held at the Pentecostal church in St. Anthony, from which the funeral service was held at 11am on the 13th of November 2015, with Pastor Jeff Bessey Officiating.  Burial followed in the Church Cemetery. The family request that donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Society Craig’s Cause.

DIAMOND, LENORA PEARL GAYE

Lenora Pearl Gaye (Colbourne) Diamond was born to Ferdinand and Stella (Budden) Colbourne of Little Brehat on July 15, 1945. When she was 10 years old she and her family moved to St. Anthony where she continued her schooling. Gaye took up employment at the Bank of Nova Scotia for a few years and she met and married the love of her life Calvin Diamond in 1967.  They had four children together. After the kids were all in school, Gaye went to work for Canada Post where she proudly worked for 19 years retiring in 2005. She enjoyed a wonderful life with Calvin raising their family. Gaye enjoyed to the fullest being at the cabin, cooking for family and friends, spending time with her grandchildren, and in her spare time she would love to play bingo, knit, read and play cards or scrabble.  Left with a life time of loving memories are her Husband Calvin, her children Darren (Shawna), Duane (Allison), Dean (Krista) and Lynn (Travis), nine grandchildren: Cara, Michelle (Darren), Mark, Paul (Duane), Danielle, Jenna, Sarah (Dean), Grant and Hannah (Lynn), sister Lois (Roger), niece Krysta (Travis), sister-in-law Dot, nephews Steve (Brenda) and Tom (Glenda), Brother-in-law Marvin (Edna), nephews Michael and Brent. She also leaves a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Calvin’s parents, and her brother Wayne.  Visitation was held at The Funeral Home in St. Anthony, after which the funeral service was held at the united church in St. Anthony at 2:00pm on Friday, October 9th 2015 with Rev. Gus Pendelton officiating. Burial followed the service at the Fishing Point United Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. SIMMS, STERLING GEORGE

Passed away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 6th of May, 2015, Mr. Sterling George Simms of St. Anthony in his 77th year. Sterling leaves to mourn his wife Shirley Simms, his sons Terry (Donna), Morgan (Verla), daughter Sybil (Glenn), Grandchildren Christa (Darryl), Jason (Angelina), Kristopher and Shannon, Great grandchildren Karli and Kaeden. As well as his brother Watson (Betty), Sisters Mariam Lane (Rex), Barbara Barton (Vincent), Patsy Penney (Leon) and long-time family friend Lorne Slade.  Sterling was predeceased by his parents William and Bessie, Brother Wellington Sister Carol Good, Nephew Kevin Hillier and Niece Shenna Barton. Visitation was held at the funeral home in St. Anthony and continued at the Pentecostal Church, from which the funeral service took place at 2:00pm on the 10th of May 2015 with Pastor Jeff Bessey officiating, burial followed the service at the church cemetery.
