RYLAND, CYRIL

August 6, 1948- June 10, 2022

Born to Samuel and Sarah Ryland on August 6, 1948. Passed away June 10, 2022 from the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 73 years.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his Wife (common-law spouse) Gertrude Applin; Sons, Damien Ryland (Jocelyn), George Ryland (Sheena); Daughter, Tracey Applin (Darrell); Stepson, Edward Brinson (Colleen); Brother, William Ryland (Adeline); Sister, Eileen Toope, as well as other extended family and friends.

Cyril is predeceased by his Father, Samuel Ryland; Mother, Sarah Jane Ryland; Brothers, Clarence Ryland, Edward Ryland; Levi Ryland, Terry Ryland, and Joseph Ryland.

Cremation to take place, funeral and visitation details to be announced.

MOORES, ABRAHAM WALLACE

Abe Moores was born on January 27th, 1950 in Flowers Cove to Eli and Laurola Moores. At a young age he moved to Port Aux Choix, after the death of his mother, they moved back to Flowers Cove. At the age of 20 he met the love of his life, Virtue, They later married in the year 1973. They had two daughters, Angela and Nadine. Abe had 3 other children from previous relationships; Leon, Lisa, and Lawrence. Abe was a linesman by trade but his passion was being a fisherman.

He Leaves to mourn with fond memories, his Wife, Virtue; Children, Nadine (Jeff), Angela, Lawrence (Olga), Leon (Cindy), Lisa; Grandchildren, Nikita, Nathan, Tisa, Brittany, Jenna, Taylor, Bradley; Great-grandchild, Ruby; Step-Mother, Margaret. He also leaves to mourn his Brothers, Edmund (Doreen), David (Amanda); Sisters-in-law, Maralies (Leonard), Millicent (Cliff), Helena (Iram).

The family would like to thank everyone for their calls, thoughts, prayers, visits, and assistance during this difficult time. Thank you as well to the staff at the Strait of Belle Isle Center, the staff at Curtis Memorial Hospital, KM Fillatre’s Funeral Home, as well as all who have provided help at this time. Visitation to take place from the United Church in Flowers Cove, from where the funeral will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Rev. John McGonigle officiating. BROMLEY, PATRICK (PADDY) IGNATIUS

April 10, 1947 - July 26, 2019
It is with great sadness that we the family of Patrick Bromley announce his passing on July 26, 2019 at Charles S. Curtis memorial Hospital in St. Anthony. Paddy was a caring man with so much love for his family. Paddy leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his brothers: Wilbert, Phillip (Phyllis), Fred (Maureen), sisters: Deloras (Peter), Bridget (Donald), Sadie (Gerard) and Irene (Edward) and brother in law Francis. He also leaves a lifetime of memories to his 36 very special nieces and nephews that he thought the world of, as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Paddy was predeceased by his parents. Patrick and Bridget, his sister Bernadette and nephews Gordon and Leroy. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre's Funeral Home in St.Anthony and at Holy Family Parish in Port au Choix with Funeral to follow at Holy Family Parish on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 with Rev Arockia Raj officiating. ELLIOTT, SAMUEL

Samuel Elliott Sr. was born July 9th, 1934 to Gordon and Mae (Bessey) Elliott
of Raleigh, NL. He grew up in Raleigh with his sister and 7 brothers until he
came to Port Au Choix looking for the woman of his dreams. He found her and they got married November 30th,1963. They made a home and raised their 2 sons and 2 daughters in Port au Choix. He worked at FPI for 36 years, most of them as a watchman where he fed many of his co workers from the electric frying pan. He was a dedicated family man who provided for his family with kindness and patience and was well respected by many as
they considered him “ the gentle giant”. He deeply loved a game of cards; especially if he was winning! Through all his sickness he always kept a positive attitude but despite his 4 year fight against the dreadful disease he passed away on Sunday, September 13th,2015. He is survived by his wife Christine of nearly 52 years, his sons Sam(jr), Kevin (Sherry-Lynn), his daughters Melita (Bob), Mae (Vince), his 6 grandchildren, Joshua, Allyson, Wyatt, Kaitlin, Skyler and Chayce, his sister Vida( Ross), brothers Reginald (Irene), Weldon (Alma), Garland (Pansy), Max (Judy),Winston (Cindy) and Alvin (Yvonne). Pre- deceased by his father Gordon, mother Mae, sister Selma and brother Wayne. Visitation Was held at the Roman Catholic Church in Port Aux Choix, from which the Funeral Mass was held at 1030am on the 17th of September with Fr. Raj Officiating.
