This is where she would spend the majority of her life and, in later years, move to the Ivy Durley Place in Flowers Cove. In November 1958, she married Wilson Taylor of Forresters Point and in December 1963, they would welcome their one and only daughter, Mary Ann.

Left behind to grieve her passing is her husband, Wilson. She was a loving mother to her daughter, Mary Ann, and son-in-law, Calvin. She will be sadly missed by her grandson, Jeremy, and his wife, Hilary, and their sons Grady and Rhett. Elva will be missed by her brother Reginald (Sharon), her sister Mary Ann, and a very long list of extended family members. Elva was predeceased by her parents Debbie and Samuel, and her brothers Wilga, Chesley and Reginald.

Elva’s life revolved around her family. From feeding them to knitting them new pairs of wool socks, she always put her family first. One event she enjoyed each year was having the opportunity to take her grandson, Jeremy, to swimming lessons in Rocky Harbour. She also enjoyed spending time in her garden, growing enough vegetables to feed both her family and Mary Ann’s family year in and year out.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Curtis Memorial Hospital and Flower’s Cove Health Centre for their care and also the staff at the Ivy Durley Place for their efforts over the years while she lived there.
