It is with great sadness that the family of Drucella Hopkins announces her passing surrounded by her loving family at the White Bay Central health Centre, Roddickton, NL on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 around 7:00 a.m. Dora Drucella Hancock was born to Telsie and James Hancock on February 17, 1928 in Roddickton, NL. On August 26, 1946 she married Claude Hopkins of Englee and together they raised 9 children. Anyone who knew Drucella appreciated her great sense of humor. She had a very positive attitude and loved to have fun. She loved everybody and made it a point to let them know before they left her house. She was a very open-minded, strong-willed and independent individual. She will be missed by everyone who knew her because to know her was to love her. She leaves to mourn her Daughters, Wavey, Shirley (Cecil) Wilcox, Diane (Ross) Rose, Linda (Bob) Pittman, Phyllis and Jeina; Sons, Arthur, Gordon, (Cynthia) and Chris (Bernadette); Grandchildren, Helen, Nadine, Brian, Brett, Marcus, Jason, Jamie, Josh, Jeremy, Jeff, Jenny, Joshua, Colitta, Travis, Trudy, and Deanne. 24 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren She was predeceased by her husband - Claude, 5 sisters and 3 brothers. Visitation will take place from the Pentecostal Church in Englee from where the funeral will take place on Sunday, January 19th, 2020 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Boyd officiating. Interment to follow. HUMBY, VIOLA ELIZABETH

Viola Elizabeth Humby (nee Earle) was born to Augustus and Mary Anne Earle of St. Lunaire on February 15, 1933. She was one of nine children. In 1949 she married John Humby of St. Lunaire and together they raised eight children. She was a home maker for all her life and worked hard to provide for her family. She loved her garden where she grew all her favourite vegetables. One of her greatest hobbies was knitting and she spent much time knitting socks, sweaters, mitts etc. for whoever needed them. Many, many hours she spent preparing for the long winter months by picking berries and drying rounders and caplin to feed her family. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Each one was special to her and she was known to always send each child a card on their birthday with a little money tucked inside. Above all, Viola loved the Lord and was a faithful member of her home church. She held the WM group close to her heart and was more than generous in her giving her time and financial support to the church. Viola Leaves to Mourn her daughters, Gladys (Lloyd), Mildred (Kevin) & Evelyn; Sons, Wallace, Mervin (Suzanne), Sandy, Dale, Ren; Brothers, Garth (Donna), Herbert (Pearl); Sister Marilyn, 14 Grandchildren & 18 Great-grandchildren. Viola will also be greatly missed by a large circle of other relatives, close friends and church family. SIMMS, THOMAS
July 17, 1944 – January 13, 2020
Thomas Simms was born to Effie (Reid) and Reuben Simms of St. Anthony Bight on July 17, 1944. Tom lived in St. Anthony Bight until he went to Moncton, New Brunswick to take training as a pilot. After completing his training he worked in gander, as well as Goose Bay, returning to St. Anthony in 1976 to work with Grenfell Regional Health Services. He worked there until he retired in 2009. In 1967 Tom married Peggy Budgell of St. Anthony and together they raised two children, Tommy and Tammy. Tom was a kind man and a great friend to all. He enjoyed nature, his gardens, and tinkering with all kinds of engines and could get anything that wasn’t working to work. Tom was a man of great faith and was always faithful to his church. After battling cancer for several years, Tom passed away peacefully on Monday evening, January 13th, 2020 at the age of 75. He leaves to mourn, his wife of nearly 53 years, Peggy; Son, Tom (Sherry); Daughter, Tammy (Dave), as well as his two granddaughters, Amanda and Ashley; Two great-grandsons, Jorden and Jackson. He also leaves to mourn his sister, Bernice (Roy); Brother, Roy (Irene); Sister-in-law, Marie; four brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Reuben and Effie Simms as well as his brother Bruce. Visitation to take place from Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home in St. Anthony on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 3-4 pm and 7-9 pm as well as Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 2-4 pm and 7-8 pm with the family service taking place at 8:00 pm. The funeral will be held from the St. Anthony United Church at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 17, 2020 with Rev. John McGonigle officiating. POOLE, TRUMAN
Truman was born in Murry’s Harbour to iris and Paul Poole. he went to school in Fox Harbour, no known as St. Lewis. he left school and went fishing with his father for a few years until he wen to work with Fishery Products Ltd. collecting cod and salmon in the surrounding outports. he spent 20 years with Loran C which was Stationed in St. Lewis. when this shut down Truman retired. in 2014 Truman began his battle with cancer, he always kept a positive attitude through it all. Truman passed away at the St. Anthony Hospital surround by the love of his Family. He will be missed beyond words by all who knew him well. rest in peace and may the angels guide you home.

WILCOX, KEVIN
William George Kevin Wilcox September 15th, 1954 – January 6th, 2020 It is with great sadness that the family of Kevin Wilcox announce his passing at the Dr. Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, NL on Monday; January 6th, 2020 at the age of 65 years. Kevin Wilcox was born on September 15th, 1954 in Englee, Newfoundland to William and Beatrice Wilcox. Kevin was a hard worker and worked with the Town of Englee for a number of years and held the position of Fire Chief for a term. He also worked for the sawmill in Roddickton until he went back to school in St Anthony, and from there moved to Goose Bay in 2006 at which time he completed a welding course. He finished his career with Frenchie’s Outdoor Shop in Goose Bay when his ongoing battle with cancer prevented him from working any longer. Kevin was well known for his passion for motorcycles and his wife Debbie would joke with him that he thought more about his bike than he did her. He enjoyed salmon fishing and being out in nature whether on the highway on his motorcycle, or on the river with his fly rod. Kevin enjoyed being with people and would joke and carry on with the people he came in contact with. Kevin was loved and cherished by his wife Debbie and will be missed by his children. After a 9-year battle with cancer, on January 6th, 2020, Kevin passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord. Public visitation will be 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm – Wednesday Jan 8th & Thursday Jan 9th. Funeral service will be held on Friday, Jan 10th at 2:00 P.M, with Pastor Mark Locke & Pastor Wayne Noble officiating. Burial will follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery. Abraham (Abe) Moores was born in in Flowers Cove to Stephen and Selina Moores. He grew up here and except for a few years in St. Anthony he lived his whole life in Flowers Cove. He worked as the ambulance driver / maintenance worker for Flowers Cove Health Centre, where he retired in 1993 after 36 years of service. On August 20, 1954 he married Theresa Walsh and they were married for 64 years until her death this past year. Abe was an active man who enjoyed the outdoors from cutting wood, hunting (he recently got his moose), fishing and spending time at the cabin. And we can’t forget how much he enjoyed playing bingo. He leaves to mourn his son Dudley (Phyllis), granddaughters Natasha (Chad), Dede (Ern), Great grandchildren Colby, Tori, Jada and Jaxon. He also leaves to mourn his sisters-in-law Margaret, Marion, Margaret, Evelyn, Susie, Anne and brothers-in-law Tommy and Jody as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Abe was predeceased by his wife Theresa, parents Stephen and Selina Moores, daughter Baby Gladys, brothers Eli, William and George, sisters Rose and Sarah Fanny and sister in law Larolla. The family would like to thank everyone for their calls, thoughts, prayers, visits and assistance during this difficult time. Elsie Parrill (Simms) was born on April 10, 1942 in St. Anthony Bight, NL, and she married Elijah Parrill on March 12, 1964. They had 2 children; Triffie and Wade, and three grandchildren; Mikaela, Robby and Caitlyn. Elsie was employed at Curtis Hospital for 30 years, where she befriended many co-workers and patients over the years. most of her working years were on the obstetrical floor. Elsie enjoyed spending quality time with children and grandchildren. her best friend was her husband, and they spent many hours doing thing they enjoyed. her kindness, mild manner, patience and love for her family will be remembered by all.
