Deborah Gwendola Pittman Decker
born to John and Eliza (Elliott) Pittman in Cooks Harbour on March 24th 1932. When “Deb” was in her teen she set out to work, which led her to different places in the province. She returned in 1955, very soon after she started dating Harold, they got married, had 3 children Howard, Barbara and Clyde. She raised her Family and helped Harold run a Family Business. Debbie enjoyed her game of darts and a scattered Game of bingo. She never failed to help out or donate to anyone in need. Deborah passed away suddenly on the 10th of Oct. 2016. She leaves to mourn her Children (Howard (Trudy), Barbara (Bill) Hedderson and Clyde (Linda), 4 Grand Children Bradley, Kaylie, Jack, and one great grandchild Riley. Her sisters Gladys Warren, Ivy Decker, Brothers Everton, Aaron (Winnie), her inlaws Bessie (Seymour), Myrtle, Dot, Juanita, Frances, Lo, Annie, lots of Nieces and Nephews a large circle of relatives and friends and special friend Alison. Visitation was held at the St. Matthews Anglican Church in Cooks Harbour, from which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, Oct. 14th with Rev. Diane Smith and Lay readers Alf and Maude Larkin officiating. Burial will be held at the Anglican Cemetery in Cooks Harbour on Saturday Oct. 17th, 2015. Passed away peacefully at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 8th of October 2015, Mr. John Richard Pittman of Blue Cove, in his 86th year. left to mourn his passing are his special friend Annie, Mary Ann Dredge (Bob and Family), Mary Jane Taylor (Sister), Maude (James) Chambers (Sister), George (Ruth) Pittman (Brother), Elizabeth Myrtle (John ) Crane (Sister), Gladys Gibbons (Sister in law), as well as a large circle of family and friends. John was predeceased by his wife Mary Ann, his father John Pittman, Mother Mary Margaret Pittman, sister Deborah (Oliver) Toope and his brother in law Gordon Taylor. The funeral service was held at the Church of the Advent in Plum Point at 2:00pm with Rev. Harold Harvey officiating. Burial followed at the Anglican Cemetery on Darby's Island. DIAMOND, LENORA PEARL GAYE
Lenora Pearl Gaye (Colbourne) Diamond was born to Ferdinand and Stella (Budden) Colbourne of Little Brehat on July 15, 1945. When she was 10 years old she and her family moved to St. Anthony where she continued her schooling. Gaye took up employment at the Bank of Nova Scotia for a few years and she met and married the love of her life Calvin Diamond in 1967. They had four children together. After the kids were all in school, Gaye went to work for Canada Post where she proudly worked for 19 years retiring in 2005. She enjoyed a wonderful life with Calvin raising their family. Gaye enjoyed to the fullest being at the cabin, cooking for family and friends, spending time with her grandchildren, and in her spare time she would love to play bingo, knit, read and play cards or scrabble. Left with a life time of loving memories are her Husband Calvin, her children Darren (Shawna), Duane (Allison), Dean (Krista) and Lynn (Travis), nine grandchildren: Cara, Michelle (Darren), Mark, Paul (Duane), Danielle, Jenna, Sarah (Dean), Grant and Hannah (Lynn), sister Lois (Roger), niece Krysta (Travis), sister-in-law Dot, nephews Steve (Brenda) and Tom (Glenda), Brother-in-law Marvin (Edna), nephews Michael and Brent. She also leaves a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Calvin’s parents, and her brother Wayne. Visitation was held at The Funeral Home in St. Anthony, after which the funeral service was held at the united church in St. Anthony at 2:00pm on Friday, October 9th 2015 with Rev. Parsons, Alwood
Alwood Andrew (George) Parsons was born at St. Anthony to Jessie and Annie Parsons Jonuary 21st, 1950. Also born to that family were Rueben, deceased, Marthda, deceased, Ross, deceased, Robert, Gladys, and Albert. Albert is twin brother to Alwood.
Alwood grew up in Roddickton, where he graduated high school/ He was joined in marriage to Celie Randell on July 24th, 1973. To this union was born two children, Deanne and Shane. Alwood was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Alwood took on many different types of employment. He worked as a lumber grader with Canada Bay Lumber Co., as a forestry worker and a teacher. He fished with this brothers, Robert and Albert for approximately 35 years. He was also a fireman for 25 years.
He was a boat builder, carpenter, sports fan, Red Wings fan, dart player, and a cook extraordinaire! Alwood was take from this life tragically on the 21st of September, 2015 in his 65th year. he will be greatly missed by his wife Celie Parsons, Children Deanne (Shane), Shane (Nathalie), Mother-in-law Lily, Brothers Robert (Harriet), Albert (Lavinia), Sister Gladys (Eric), Granddaughters Alexis, Shelby; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Visitation was held at the Apostolic Faith Church in Roddickton from where the funeral services were held at 2:00pm on Sunday September 27th, 2015 with Rev. Christopher Hewlett officiating. Passed away September 17, 2015 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, Mrs. Mary Campbell of Plum Point was in her 69th year. She was predeceased by her parents Isaac and Beatrice Stevens; her Sister Sarah Fanny; and Brother Arch. Samuel Elliott Sr. was born July 9th, 1934 to Gordon and Mae (Bessey) Elliott
of Raleigh, NL. He grew up in Raleigh with his sister and 7 brothers until he
came to Port Au Choix looking for the woman of his dreams. He found her and they got married November 30th,1963. They made a home and raised their 2 sons and 2 daughters in Port au Choix. He worked at FPI for 36 years, most of them as a watchman where he fed many of his co workers from the electric frying pan. He was a dedicated family man who provided for his family with kindness and patience and was well respected by many as
they considered him “ the gentle giant”. He deeply loved a game of cards; especially if he was winning! Through all his sickness he always kept a positive attitude but despite his 4 year fight against the dreadful disease he passed away on Sunday, September 13th,2015. He is survived by his wife Christine of nearly 52 years, his sons Sam(jr), Kevin (Sherry-Lynn), his daughters Melita (Bob), Mae (Vince), his 6 grandchildren, Joshua, Allyson, Wyatt, Kaitlin, Skyler and Chayce, his sister Vida( Ross), brothers Reginald (Irene), Weldon (Alma), Garland (Pansy), Max (Judy),Winston (Cindy) and Alvin (Yvonne). Pre- deceased by his father Gordon, mother Mae, sister Selma and brother Wayne. Visitation Was held at the Roman Catholic Church in Port Aux Choix, from which the Funeral Mass was held at 1030am on the 17th of September with Fr. Raj Officiating.
