COLBOURNE, ROBERT GORDON

April 25, 1967 – May 28, 2019

Robert Gordon Colbourne was born April 25, 1967 to Eliza and Winston Colbourne. He was the youngest of three children, with one brother, Whyman and a sister Irene, who gave him the only niece on his side of the family, Christa. At 17 years old he fell in love with Diane Earle. Their only daughter Jillian was born May 29, 1989. Then he married the love of his life on August 2, 1991. Rob and Diane have been each other's best friend since then. He loved spending his spare time at the cabin, fishing and snowmobiling. He enjoyed having a coffee and chats with his family and friends. He was devoted to Diane, and spoiled his daughter Jillian and his grandsons Liam and Jack who were precious to him and "Pop's tag alongs". He always had time for them and couldn't wait to get back from sea to be with them. He was looking forward to the new Grandson as well! He welcomed Andrew his son in law into the family and treated him like his own son. Several years ago Rob got to know God on a personal level and it was evident to everyone the positive change it made in his life. Rob worked hard to provide for his family, unselfishly spending long periods of time at sea. He started fishing with his father when he was a teenager in L’anse Aux Meadows. After he was married, he went to Ontario for three summers Sandblasting and Painting. He then started fishing in many boats on the southern shore. He also fished with some of his uncles on the Calm Sea for 7 years. After that, he fished as a Second Trawl Boss on the Acadienne Gale II for 16 years. Finally, he fished on the Newfoundland Victor for the past year and a half. What kept him going was knowing he had a family at home who loved him and was waiting for him. We bid Rob farewell on this his final voyage and until we meet again May God hold you in the palm of His hand. Robert Leaves to Mourn his Wife, Diane Colbourne; Daughter Jilian (Andrew) Baker; Grandchildren Liam & Jack Baker; Parents Eliza & Winston Colbourne; Grandparents Delilah & Selby Tucker; Sister Irene Simms (Clifford); Niece Christa Simms as well as a large number of other relatives and friends.
