GREENE, GEORGE

March 16th, 1946 - August 29th, 2024

With heavy hearts and much love, we, the family sadly announce the passing of George Greene, beloved husband, father, father-in-law,  grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle, which occurred on August 29th, 2024.
George was born in St. Anthony, on March 16th, 1946 to Miriam and Barton Green, who raised him in Raleigh.
He married Keziah Noseworthy in 1970, of Green Island Brook and moved to Happy Valley- Goose Bay in 1973, where they raised their two children, built a home, and made a life for their family.
He spent 40 years as a master carpenter on the base and, after 50 years in Goose Bay, moved back home to the Northern Peninsula.
George was a wonderful, hardworking man. He was a talented artist, working with anything from paint to woodworking. He always enjoyed telling tales of his youth over a good feed of lobsters or coo coos. An outdoor man at heart who loved hunting, fishing, and his chainsaw (not so much the trees). He worked hard his whole life to take care of his family, teaching important life lessons and skills to his children.  He was a man to be proud of. We are honored to call him a husband, a dad, a father-in-law, a pop, and a great grandpa. His grandchildren and great-granddaughters, whom he loved dearly, held a special place in his heart. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.  He will remain in our hearts and memories for eternity.
Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife Keziah, children: Lorne (Connie), and Jody (Kristy), grandchildren: Steven, Samantha (Ray), Brooklyn, and Devin, great granddaughters: Aubrey and Layne, siblings: Freeman, Melina, Belinda, and Maisie (Richard), sisters-in-law: Evelyn and Irene, along with many extended family members.
He was predeceased by parents: Barton and Miriam, siblings: Ida (Stewart) Patey, Lester, and Joseph, sister-in-law: Barbara Green, brothers-in-law: Stanley Dawe and John Andris.
Upon the family’s request, there will be no public viewing.
The funeral service will take place on 2:00 PM on Monday, September 9, 2024 from the Anglican church in Raleigh. Interment to follow.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, Funeral Director.
