EDDISON, PLEMAN

Passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 16th day of August 2015, Mr. Pleman Hedderson of Noddy Bay was in his 87th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 61 years Marion, children Janice (Alex), Barbara (Hubert), Lester (Vi), Art (Janet), Lucinda (Elijah), Wade, Edith (Dexter), Colin (Petrina), Seventeen Grandchildren, Twenty Great Grandchildren, Two Sisters Fanny and Annie. HE was predeceased by his son Truman Eddison, Parents Reuben and Lucinda Eddison, Brother’s Stewart, Aquilla, William, and Sisters Catherine, Dulcie and Emma. Visitation was held at the Anglican Church in Dark Tickle from which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on the 20th day August 2015 with Rev. Mark Wilkoff officiating. JANES, MELAH ELIZABETH

Passed peacefully away on the 12th day of August 2015 at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Melah Janes of Roddickton was in her 85th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Betsy(Frank)Jenkins, Roddickton; Joyce(Wilson) Gale, Springdale; Blanche(Raymond) Adams, Roddickton; Alma(Kevin) Gill, Goose Bay; Cyril(Maxine) Canning, Fort McMurray, AB; Pearl(Paul) Williams, Brigus, NL;   Eighteen Grandchildren, Twenty-three Great- Grandchildren, Eight Great Great Grandchildren, Brother Fred Randell, Sister’s-in-Law Laura Compton and Ettie Randell, as well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Eli and Triffena Randell, Husband Harvey Canning, Sons Maxwell and Joshua Canning, Sisters Bessie Brenton and Dulcie Newman, and Brother Roland Randell. Visitation was held at the Calvary Pentecostal Temple in Roddickton from which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on Monday the 17th day August 2015 with Pastor Benjamin Brown officiating. ADAMS, GEORGE ABSALOM

Passed away peacefully at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on the 9th of August, 2015 Mr. George A. Adams in his 69th year. Left to mourn are his daughters Laura (Gary), Amanda (Kirby); Grandchildren Chandler, Alexis, Jaxon; brothers Fred (Viva), Raymond (Blanche), Harvey, Leslie (Juna), Armenious, Thomas (Jeanette), Keith; and sister Annie May.
George was predeceased by his parents Walter and Nina Adams.
Visitation was held at Calvary Pentecostal Temple, Roddickton from where the funeral was held Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Benjamin Brown officiating. Funeral services have been entrusted to K.M. Fillatre, Lee Nippard, Funeral Director.

LEWIS, ELSIE

Conche, NL

Passed away peacefully on August 5, 2015 at her private residence surrounded by her family in Conche, NL at the age of 92, Mrs. Elsie Lewis. Left to mourn Elsie’s passing are her children Veronica (Don) and Ted (Linda); brother Elias (Margaret); Granddaughters Sonya (Jamie) and Holly (Brian); Great-Grandchildren Emma and James. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Leo; parents Terrance and Nellie Foley; brothers James (Mary) and Ron. She will be missed by a large circle of family and friends. Visitation took place at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Conche from where the funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on August 8, 2015 with Fr.  officiating. . DECKER, CHRISTOPHER ROBERT

                Christopher Robert Decker was born in St. Anthony, N.L on November 17, 1941 to Alan and Leah (Simms) Decker.

                He was raised in Roddickton, N.L, along with his brothers, Eli and Melvin, surrounded by numerous family and friends.

                After finishing Grade 11 in Roddickton, Chris left home at 17 to complete his Grade 12 at Prince Of Whales College in St. John’s, N.L. After Grade 12 he went on to Memorial University to complete an Arts degree before heading to Pine Hill University in Nova Scotia. At Pine Hill he graduated with A Masters of Divinity.

                He met Patricia Roberts in 1965 and married June 27, 1967. They went on to have two children, Lynn and John.

                Chris wore many career hats over the years. United Church Minister to Boat Building. Owned Logging companies to clothing stores. However, his passion was politics. After being involved in Municipal politics for many years, he made the move to Provincial politics. In 1984 he was elected as a Liberal member to serve what was then, The Straits, White Bay North. After a lengthy career serving his great district and province as MHA, and Minister in several portfolios, he retired from the Public Sector in 1999 to lead a more private life.

After a very brief retirement he began working again as a consultant and Author in which he wrote and published three novels.

Of all the careers and titles he has held, his favorite was Grandfather. He lived to spent time with his four grandchildren, Alexandra, Bradley, Christopher and Eddie, and his favorite quote was; “If I knew grandchildren were so much fun, I would have had them first.”

                Chris, along with his wife Pat spent their retirement years between Roddickton, Little Bay Islands and Florida, where he was always surrounded by family and friends, and enjoyed life to the fullest.

                After battling Cancer for over three years he passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, August 8th, 2015. He was predeceased by his parents, Alan and Leah, his brother Eli, and his parents in law, Joe and Daisy Roberts.

The family will be holding a “Celebration of Life” Service at 2 pm, Wednesday, August 12th, 2015 at John Wesley United Church with a burial of his ashes at a later date.

 In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate a donation made to John Wesley United Church in Roddickton, N.L

It is with great sadness that the family of Catherine (Cack) Green announce her passing on August 5, 2015 at Charles Curtis Memorial Hospital at the age of 69 years. Left to mourn are her sons Mike (Rhonda) Green, David Green; daughter Janet (Wayne) Green; brothers Bruce (Fran) Patey, John (Carmel) Patey, Paul (Janet) Patey, Wade (Corinne) Patey; sisters-in-law Joyce Johnson, Judy Wall, Phyllis (Don) Otterbeck, Rosemary Green, Carol (Fred) Pilgrim; brothers in law Bill Green, Gerald Green, Bob (Madge) Green, Terry (Mary) Green; granddaughters Kimberly Green, Ashley Green and Morgan Green. She was predeceased by her husband Keith Green; parents John and Berdina Patey; parents-in-law Hayward and Jemima Green; brother Mark Johnson; brothers-in-law Alton Green, Joe Green; and sister-in-law Blanche Green. Visitation took place at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in St. Anthony from where the funeral was held on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. with Father Paul Findlay officiating. Passed away on July 31, 2015, Noah White, in his 63rd year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife Gladys; son Michael (Ashley); Grandchildren Breah, Kylen; mother Dulcie; brothers Curling (Wanda), Jim (Marlene); sisters Olga (Wayne), Marion Ann (Lyman); nephews Dwayne, Ramsey, Ricky, Andrew, Andy; uncle Jimmy (Belinda); aunts Ann and Velma as well as a circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his father Curling and brother Ramsey. Visitation took place at St. Thomas Anglican Church in Sandy Cove from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday August 4, 2015 with Rev. Marlene Harvey officiating. HEDDERSON, LOUISE D.

Passed away on August 1, 2015 in her 54th year. Louise Hedderson was born in St. Anthony, NL on October 12, 1960 to Stewart and Levinia Hedderson of Noddy Bay. A number of years ago she moved to St. Anthony where she resided until her passing.  Louise was predeceased by her parents and her sister Ivy. Left to mourn are her partner Tony Short, daughter Amanda (Darryl), son Steve (Courtney) and grandson Matayo. Also left to mourn are sisters Selma (Alfred) Matchim, Jane (Ben) Rumbolt, Marion (Vincent) Tatchell, and Hazel Hedderson; brothers Henry (Marie), Thomas (Glenda), Cecil & Stewart. Visitation took place at the Salvation Army Citadel, St. Anthony from where the funeral service was held at 2pm on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 with Major Dinzel Baggs officiating. ROSE, ELIZABETH (BETTY) JANE BURRY

She passed peacefully away surrounded by her family at the John M. Gray Centre on the 13th day of July 2015. Mrs. Elizabeth (Betty) Rose of Flower’s Cove was in her 92nd year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her nine children Pierce Rose, Rosiland (the late William Carey), Agnes(Sam) Genge, Norman(Brenda) Rose, Barbara(George) Coles, Wayne(Olga) Rose, Daphne(Claude) Genge, Henry Rose, and Dean(Belinda) Rose, her twenty-one Grandchildren, Thirty-Four Great Grandchildren, and Two Great- Great- Grandchildren and many nieces, nephews , two brothers-in-law, and one sister-in-law as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Norman Rose, her twin Brother Pierce Burry, Sisters Mabel Bishop, Olive English, Agnes Burry, her Grandchildren Elizabeth Rose, Baby Boy Rose, Perry Rose, her parents Pierce and Martha Burry, and her Parents-in-law Archibald and Agnes Rose. Cremation had taken place followed by visitation at the United Church in Flower’s Cove followed by the memorial service which was held at 2:00pm on the 19th day of July 2015 with Rev. STEVENS, VERONICA

Veronica Stevens passed away peacefully at the Northern Lights Regional Health Center in Fort McMurray, Alberta on July 13th 2015 surrounded by her immediate family. She leaves to mourn with loving memories her Husband Jock Stevens, Daughters Kelly Rodgers & Kendall Young and Son Jock Stevens Jr , Grandchildren Cody Rogers & Kaylee Young and her Brothers and Sisters ( Augustine Anscome,Thersea Rumbolt,Ruby Rumbolt ,Ismay Gould ,Wanda Gaulton, Bernard Rumbolt ,Glenn Rumbolt ,Nish Rumbolt,Ambrose Rumbolt, Simon Rumbolt. She was predeceased by her Mother Charlotte Mary Rumbolt, Father Ambrose Rumbolt. Visitation was  held at Our Lady of Grace Parish in Bird Cove, Newfoundland from which the funeral services took place at 12:00 Noon Sunday July 19th 2015 with Father John Bosco officiating.
