It is with great sadness that the family of the late Levi Tucker announce his passing on October 14, 2020 at Curtis Memorial Hospital. Levi leaves to mourn children Christine and Perry, sister Pearl, brothers Rol, Les, Carl, Wilbert, Alwin and Gary and a wide circle of family and friends. Levi is predeceased by wife Nina, brother Roy, and parents Archibald and Aurelia. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Private visitation will take place from Kerry M. REARDON, EDWARD FRANCIS
February 7, 1939 – October 11, 2020.
Edward Francis Reardon was born Feb. 7, 1939 in Goose Cove to Ambrose and Myrtle Reardon. He was raised by his grandparents Daniel and Dinah Reardon from a young age due to the passing of his mother. On January 29, 1963 he married Theresa Hancock and together they raised six children. Ed was a man of great wit and humor. He was never one to step back from a prank. He thoroughly enjoyed meeting others and had an incredible gift of being able to strike up a conversation and tell a story with whomever was in his presence. His old shed in Goose Cove was a gathering place, every morning for himself and several of his buddies where they would catch up on the news and events of the day. Many a worldly problem was discussed by himself, Gerald and Melv and anyone else who happen to stop by. He wasn’t shy in expressing his opinion on any subject whether he was knowledgeable of it or not. He was known to tell it how it was. Although he wasn’t much for hunting he did enjoy trips trouting in Ireland Bight and berry picking with his life-long buddy, John Murrin. He was not one you would recognize as spiritual however, he was faithful to his church. He attended Mass on a regular basis and was involved with the parish council and the cemetery until his health prevented him from doing so. He was a great neighbour and friend to all and would never hesitate to “do a turn” for anyone. One of his life’s greatest pleasures was his Grandchildren. They were his pride and joy and no task would ever be too large or frivolous when it came to pleasing them. He is predeceased by his parents Ambrose and Myrtle, Sister Madeline and Grandson Stephen. He will be fondly remembered and loved by his wife, Theresa of 57 years, Children John (Pat), Jacinta (Steve) and Luke, Michelle (Jim) and Jamie, Dale (Tracy) and Terryn, Jennifer, Lynette (Seymour) and Joel as well as a large circle of family and friends. Let perpetual light shine upon him and may he rest in Peace. Visitation will be from 7-9pm on Tuesday, Oct 13th from Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home in St. Anthony with funeral mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Goose Cove at 11 am Wednesday, October 14th. Albert Hughes was born on April 15th, 1945 in Green Island Brook to James and Edith Hughes, where he lived for the first 2 and a half years of his life. He then lived with his aunt Sarah and Uncle Albert Bailey in Big Brook. Albert spent most of his life in St. Johns. Left to mourn his passing are Cyril (Maxine), Douglas (Jeannie), Rhoda (Lloyd), Wallace (Joanne), nieces and nephews and a large circle of family and friends. Albert Was Pre Deceased by his Mother and father Edith and James, Sisters Lillian Hughes, Marion Hughes and brother Lambert. The funeral service was held at the St. Andrews Anglican Church in Lower Cove at 11am on The 13th of October with Rev. SIMMS, AMELIA
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our precious wife, mom and grandmother, Amelia Simms (May 20, 1939 – October 11, 2020). Surrounded by her loving family, Millie left us for God’s welcoming embrace on October 11th, 2020 at the John M Gray Seniors home. Meeting her with loving arms is her Mom and Dad (Caroline and Aubrey Way). Amelia met the love of her life, Willie P Simms, at the age of 16 and together they spent a lifetime of love devoted to one another. Their greatest accomplishment in life were their four children who are left to mourn with everlasting loving memories; Nadine (Glen), Deanne (Dave), Gord (Colleen) and Lisa (Curtis). In later years, Millie’s love extended to her six grandchildren who she worshipped with all her heart; Natasha, Jordan, Nathan, Heather, Shane and her baby Emily. Leaving also to mourn is her loving brother Clifton Way (Betty) and large extended Simms and Way family and cherished circle of friends. Second only to her family, Millie was very proud of her career as a Registered Nurse. She was known to her patients and colleagues for her gentle demeanor and endless compassion. She was the town walker, volunteer, and chocolate chip cookie baker extraordinaire. She loved nature and her many rides on Ski-doo with Willie P and her girlfriends. The extended Simms family would like to take this time to profess a heartfelt thank you to all Millies nurses/caregivers at the John M Gray who took care of her in her final years and provided the same tender hearted care Millie was so well known for. With Millie’s love of flowers in mind, the family will graciously accept flowers on her behalf or donations can be made to the John M Gray Seniors home. Flowers can be sent to 1A Old Peat Road, St. Anthony. A celebration of life will take place at the United Church on Wednesday October 14th at 2pm, Covid-19 regulations will be followed.

It is with great sadness, that the family of the late Kenneth (Ken) Harold Fillier announce his passing at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, at the age of 94 years, with family at his side. Ken was born in Hampden, NL and moved to Englee at an early age. It was there that he met and married the love of his life, Melina Cassell of Great Harbour Deep on Aug. 9, 1945. Ken worked in many areas through his life, from working in the woods, deckhand on freighters, and cooking on the Grenfell Mission boat, Marvel. In the last 18 years before retirement, he worked in the fish plant in Englee. Ken and Melina raised 6 children and 2 grandchildren in a loving home. Leaving to mourn their loss while treasuring their memories, children: Golda Ropson - St. Anthony; Woodrow (Linda) Fillier – Cold Lake, AB; Miriam (Seymour) Compton– Englee, NL; Barry (Jenny) Fillier – Lacombe, AB; Drucella (Rick) Pollard – Burlington, ON; Kim (Charles) Fillier - Kitchener, ON and Hayley (Daniel) Fillier-Klepp - Cambridge, ON. Ken will also be sadly missed by brother, Jerry Fillier (Dryden, ON); sisters: Alma Pilgrim (Main Brook), Violet Wilcox (Roddickton) and Ella Andrews (La Scie), 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, many relatives and friends. Cyril passed away on September 29, 2020 at the age of 73 years. It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Todd Shelby McLean announce his tragedy at sea on July 29, 2020 at the age of 49. Todd spent most of his life as an inshore fisherman To provide for his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ski-dooing, and in the woods. Left with fond memories his wife Joan, on March 4, 1995 he was overjoyed with the birth of his first daughter Brittany, and on January 12, 2001 he welcomed his other little girl Emily, they meant the world to him, his mother and father Cicely and Shelby Mclean, brother Samuel (Nikita) and a large circle of nephews,nieces,aunts, uncles and family and friends. Maxwell was a loving husband, devoted father, proud pop and Cherished brother, who spent his life as a hard working inshore fisherman to provide the best life he could for his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and in the woods.
