GENGE, JUANITA

Juanita Genge

Anchor Point

December 27, 1952 - April 15, 2018

Juanita (Wynnie) passed safely into the awaiting arms of her devoted parents, Kathleen and William Genge, on April 15th, 2018, in her 66th year at St. Anthony Hospital.  She was a loving sister to Levenia, Wilfred, Vivian, Hazel (Isaac), Winston (Bernice), Gloria (Robin), Stella (Clayton), Rowena (Ken), James (Betty), Helena (Melvin), and an aunt to numerous nephews and nieces.  Juanita leaves to mourn many cousins, aunts, and her foster parents, Stella and George Woodward, who cared for her for 24 years.  She was predeceased by her parents, Kathleen and William Genge; sister, Stacie; special niece, Petrina; brothers-in-law, Simeon Gaulton and Norman Genge; and sister-in-law, Olive Genge. It’s often said that it takes a village to raise a child.  In Juanita’s case this was surely true.  She grew up in the fifties in Anchor Point where all neighbours’ doors were open to her; she was fed at many tables, played with all children and looked after by everyone in the community.  She was so lucky to have grown up in such a caring, accepting place where people did not shun others with different abilities but embraced and loved them.  Aunt Mary and Uncle Cal were two of many such people who were a great help to our parents and loved her dearly.  The neighbours were always on the alert watching out for her.  She was a very special member of our family, loved by us all but especially our parents. They felt very blessed to be her parents. Visitation will take place at St. Matthews Anglican Church in Anchor Point on Tuesday, April 17th and Wednesday, April 18th from where the funeral service will take place on Thursday, April 19th with Rev. Jennifer Renouf officiating.  Any donations in Juanita’s memory will be given to various charities chosen by the family.
