LIDSTONE, LEAH

Born in Roddickton, March 31st 1940 Leah was the youngest of six children. Leah loved her hometown and all the people in it. While working at the local medicine clinic, Leah met a charming young man by the name of Ronald Lidstone, who was being treated for an injury he received while working for his Father’s logging company in camp 4. At the moment their eyes met Leah knew it was love with no time they were married and next came five beautiful children, who she loved with every ounce of her being. Leah and Ronald raised their children in Roddickton and together they owned a gas station and automobile repair garage. Leah was a very devoted member of the Pentecostal Church serving as a member of the women’s missionary council and teaching Sunday school. Leah was a kind and gentle soul, she was loved by everyone who met her, she was the type of person that fond the good in everyone. Leah passed away on June 5th, 2017 and will truly be missed by many. Although she is gone her legacy lives on through the positive impact she has had on so many lives. Mrs. Leah Lidstone of Roddickton was in her 77th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons and daughters Terry Lidstone(Judy Lidstone), Rick Lidstone(Johann Lidstone), Lisa Blagdon(Barry Blagdon), Dean Lidstone (Michelle Lidstone), Sandra Randell (Dean Randell), Grandchildren Kariss Lidstone-Short(Charles Short), Ricky Lidstone(Joanne Lidstone- Rose), Sharmaine Tilley (Bob Tilley), Benjamin White (Angel Turpin), Michael Lidstone, Hope Randell (Jordan Barton), Great Grandchildren Karlee- Rae, Kenzie – Mae, Heather, Desiree, Alex, Julianna as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her Husband Ronald Lidstone, Parents Loretta Simms and William Simms, Siblings Francis Simms and Melvin Simms. Visitation was  held at the Calvary Pentecostal Temple in Roddickton from which the funeral service took place on Friday June 9th, 2017 at 2:00pm with Pastors Benjamin Brown and George Coles Officiating. FILLIER - HOPKINS, MELVINA GLADYS JUILA

Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, June 6th 2017 at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, NL at 73 years of age.

She is predeceased by Husbands Stanley Fillier and Roy Hopkins, Parents Chesley and Flossie Cassell, Brother’s Harrison and David Cassell.

Left to mourn her passing with fond and loving memories are her Children; Marlene (Wayne), Derrick (Bonnie), Jackie (Dennis), Debbie (Dean), Pauline (Joshua), and Connie (Jason), eleven Grand Children, four Great Grand Children, two Sisters, two Brother’s, Nieces, Nephews, and a large circle of Family and Friends.

Public visitation will take place on Friday and Saturday, June 9th and 10th from 2-5PM and 7-9PM at Salvation Army Citadel in Englee, NL.

Funeral service will take place on Sunday, June 11th 2PM at the Salvation Army Church in Englee and the internment will take place at the Salvation Army cemetery in Englee. funeral arangments are entrusted to Kerry M. SIMMS, PHOEBE GENEVA

On March 20, 1940, Flossie and George Macey of Red Bay, Labrador became the proud parents of a baby girl they named Phoebe Geneva. At the age of 16 she moved to St. Anthony to work with the Grenfell Mission and later on she went to work with Fishery Products until she retired in 1991. In 1957 Phoebe married Wilson Simms of St. Anthony and together they raised one son and two daughters. Phoebe leaves to mourn with fond memories her son Jerry (Triffie); Daughters Judy and Mandy; Grandchildren Brandi, Lorne, Melissa, Jeremy; Great-grandchildren Tyler, Kyle, Damien, Megan, Zoe, Layla, Anna; Special nieces Eleanor McLean, Beryl Pilgrim; Brothers Hayward (Margaret), Hubert (Annie); Sisters Jane (Nelson), Ivy (Theodore), Hilda (Ian), and her best friend Blanche Strickland as well as a large circle of extended relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her Father George, father Walter Ryan, Mother Flossie, Husband Wilson and her brother Albert. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre’s Funeral Home until the funeral on Monday, June 5th, 2017 at 2:00 PM from the Salvation Army Church in St. Anthony with Captain Brown officiating. Interment followed. CARNELL, CHARLES

Charles was born to Sidney and Imelda Carnell of Flower’s Cove on August 31, 1957.  He was raised in Flower’s Cove and on June 18, 1977 he married Leatrice Jones.  They had two children.  Charles was a hardworking man who was a business man for many years in Flowers Cove.  In 1997 he and his family moved to Alberta where he worked as a salesman.  He retired and returned home to Flowers Cove in 2012 after suffering a stroke. In December of 2016 he was diagnosed with cancer.  He died at home on May 28th.   He was a well loved and respected man.  He is survived by his wife Leatrice, his son Roy (Vania), his daughter Roxanne (Dwayne), two granddaughters Jasmine and Selina.  He is also survived by his mother Imelda, Sister Maggie (Harold), Brother Jim (Ena), His Dog Marly, as well as nieces, nephews and friends.  He was predeceased by his father Sidney.  He will be sadly missed. After cremation, visitation took place from the United Church in Flowers Cove, from where the funeral service was held on June 1st, 2017 with Rev. John McGonigle officiating. Interment followed. GOULD, MELINA MARY

Passed away at the John M. Gray Center on May 26th, 2017 at the age of 88 years. She leaves to mourn with a lifetime of memories children Pius (Jessie), Maxine (Don), Jim (Imelda), Patsy, Maxwell (Pauline), Yvonne (Jim), Wayne (Janet), Dean (Nadine); Grandchildren Sheldon, Dale, Sean, Tyson, Jamie, Rendell,
Ryan, Alex, Megan, Dylan, Janaya, Matt; Great-Grandchildren Zachary, Alaina, Danielle, Cody, Gabriel, Tristan, Caleb, Preston, and Rylan as well as brother Primus Pittman Sr. and a large group of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her Husband Pius Gould; Parents James and Theresa Pittman; Brothers James, Christopher, Michael John, and Joseph; Sisters Mary Alice Caines, Catherine Kennedy, Nellie Pittman, Florence Gould, Theresa Gould; and Brother-in-law Jesse Gibbons. Visitation took place from the Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church in Bird Cove from where the funeral took place at 2:00 on Monday, May 29, 2017 with Fr. Bosco officiating. Interment followed. RANDELL, CHATFIELD

Chatfield Alemenda Randell (Chattie) February 13th, 1918- May 19th, 2017
Chattie took her heavenly flight at the age of 99 on May 19, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband Rudolph and son Clifford and is survived by children Marie(Spurgeon), Alfreda, Hazel(Ron), Clement(Doris), Meletta(Clyde), Mark(Loretta), Richard(Jean), Jean(Eugene), sisters Hetty Hempshall(Sheffield England), Nellie Humby-Roddickton along with 34 grandchildren and more than 160 great and great-great grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to being a loving, dedicated wife and mother to a large family, Chattie spent over 70 years in faithful service with the United Church of Canada as a lay reader and Sunday school teacher.
Her legacy of love and faith is a blessed gift to her family and to the lives of those she impacted throughout her long life. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday May 25th at 2pm ,with visitation on Tuesday May 23rd from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and Wednesday May 24th from 2-4 pm.

Passed peacefully away at his home in Goose Cove, May 19, 2017 at the age of 77. John is survived by his wife, Evangeline and his daughters Anastasia (Kier) Knudsen and Natasha (Ryan) Flynn; Brothers Patrick and William Drudge, Clifford (Mary Theresa) Kearney; Sisters Bridgett (John) Murrin, Anne (Wayne) Sedore; Brothers-in-law Raymond, Maurice (Eileen), Brendan (Kim), Desmond (Martha), Kevin (Ann), Donald (Kirsten) McDonald; Sisters-in-law Sheila Strangemore, Gertrude (Patrick) Troy, Mary (Harry Urschitz) McDonald, Ellen (Anthony) Sexton, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. WHITE, SELINA

It is with heavy hearts the family of the late Mrs. Selina White of Sandy Cove announce her passing on the 17th day of May 2017, Mrs. Selina White was in her 89th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her Sons Isaac, George(Lucy), Daughters Madeline, Nancy(Grenfell), Wavey(Calvin), Thirteen Grandchildren, Twenty-Three Great Grandchildren, and Four Great Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by her Sister Alma Diamond. Visitation was held at the St. Thomas Anglican Church in Sandy Cove from which the funeral service was held on Saturday May 20th, 2017 with Rev. Passed away May 13th, 2017 at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital at the age of 56 years. passed away peacefully at Curtis Memorial hospital in St. Anthony on May 11, 2017, a few weeks shy of her 78th birthday. She was born on May 30th, 1939 and lived in Bird Cove, NL. She leaves to mourn her beloved husband Primus Pittman, of 61 years, her children Tom (Ciara), Lily (Angus), Nellie (Wally), Theresa (Prim), Prim (Annette), Dennis (Janet), Sharon (David), & Desmond (Tammy), sister Mary (Victor), grandchildren Murray, Kimberley (Shannon), Jeremy (Shelley), Danan, Wesley, Felicia (Dylan), Ashley (Josh), Brandon, Lytora, Colten, Brayden, Garfield, Brock, & Brianna, great grandchildren Cody, Jada, Jorja, Taylor, & Jackson.
